We use MessageBird to send SMS notifications to our users when they interact with our SaaS. We built a service that interacts with MessageBird for SMS and with SendGrid for e-mails, so every time we need to send a notification, we can send it for both channels at the same time.
  • SMS delivery
  • Webhooks for delivery reports
  • SMS pricing
  • SMS authentication is pricey (like other players)
  • Lack dedicated SMS phone numbers for Brazil
If you need to send SMS and don't need fancy APIs (robots and automation), it's great. High delivery rates, simple APIs, good pricing.
  • SMS API
  • Webhook reports
  • Lower cost per message
  • High SMS delivery rate
  • Fast development
Twilio prices were much higher for our initial volume (30k SMS/month). But they have more APIs and more services if you need to integrate email, SMS, and other channels.
We didn't need those features, only basic SMS and email, so we kept each feature from one provider. Email from Sendgrid and SMS from MessageBird

MessageBird is a tool that helps us to contact and respond to WhatsApp messages from both sales and collection clients. It helps us serve a large number of clients who want to contact us through a written means other than email. In addition, with automation tools, we can assign known clients to our executives who are already serving those clients.
  • Users can transfer a client to another user without a particular permission
  • It allows you to control the communication of our agents and their activity.
  • It gives us a feeling of closeness to our clients who, due to their work activity, cannot answer the phone
  • It does not accept all the functions of whatsapp
  • It has no integration with the Pipedrive CRM
  • Sometimes it doesn't work in real time, leaving clients waiting in an invisible "queue"
MessageBird seems to me a very useful tool for the times we are living [in] and the paradigm shift in corporate communications in all industries. It is very good at exchanging information and plain text. It works with some difficulty for sending images and other functionalities that the real WhatsApp application has, but the client on the other side does not know about this and sometimes sends information such as location that it is not possible to obtain.
  • Quick contact with collection clients
  • Delivers the feeling of instantaneous
  • It is good to start the relationship, but continue it through the call center.
Regarding WhatsApp Business, it is a very useful tool because templates can be programmed for the entire organization and clients can also be referred to other users in order to decongest an agent who can become quite busy. Otherwise there would be no way to serve you through two agents and you could have a bad end user or customer experience.
