Bing Ads is the 2nd most popular search engine that we sell ads on in the paid search area. It provides a slightly different audience and searches are a little bit better in some cases than with Google. We use it primarily for promoting our clients as a complete solution.
  • Lower CPC (not always but usually).
  • Better CTR (again not always but normally).
  • Reach, especially in display.
Bing works very well when targeting people that have a college degree. It works well in higher education, "green technologies" and automotive.
Bing has not worked well for us in real estate or in house flipping. Bing tracking is a little less "plug and play" in Google Tag Manager but you can make it work.
  • It has allowed us to reach people that don't use Google.
  • It helps us advertise for our clients better.
Bing Ads works similarly to Google Ads (Formerly AdWords) in the fact that it is search engine marketing. It differs in how it reaches a slightly more educated audience, has lower CPC (less competition) and often a better ROI. "Green technologies", solar, wind, etc. work extremely well in Bing Ads. Automotive advertising works very well here too!
The Support staff at Bing Ads is genuinely trying to help you. This is unlike at Google where they are just trying to get you to spend more money by turning on automation that doesn't do the client any good but does spend money. Their support over the years has been excellent for the most part and very helpful. I have played "stump the support guy" many times with Google and Bing Ads.

I am the primary contact with bing ads support but others have contacted them in the past.

  • Shopping Campaigns
  • Green Technology Promotion
  • Automotive ads
  • More Shopping if inventory gets better
We have had good success with it over all of our clients. We continually recommend bing to reach "the rest of the searchers".

We do PPC, and Bing is a part of it, albeit not a large one (about 1/7 of AdWords currently).
  • Simplicity
  • Reporting
  • Excellent ROI on some campaigns (usually in languages other than English)
  • No picture ads
How old is your target audience? It is not very useful for catering to younger people and is surprisingly effective when it comes to 45+ age group.
  • Excellent ROI for some campaigns.
Bing is losing by a huge margin, both in terms of the reach and the convenience of its interface. The good thing about Bing is that the competition tends to treat it scornfully, which opens up at least one or two opportunities for a highly profitable campaign. But then again, it is impossible to capitalize on that campaign due to the small scale.

  • Driving ROI
  • Increasing brand awareness (Bing falls particularly short of AdWords here)
  • None.
  • Remarketing would be used a lot if Bing had that.
It does drive traffic and conversions, even though the scale is small.

We were looking to expand the reach of our marketing, Bing Ads was one of the options, and we went for it. I never viewed Bing as competing against other PPC products: it was only complementing them. And yes, for some campaigns the ROI does end up extraordinary... on 3-4 conversions a month, though:).
I'd keep it the same.

Change management was minimal
  • They had nothing to do with Bing itself: we just struggled to get our developers' attention to it.
No.
  • I like Bing's geo reporting, although it gets annoying when you need to generate different reports in a row.
  • I wouldn't call it cumbersome, but the overall design of the interface is not even nearly as visually appealing as that of AdWords. Put simply, it doesn't encourage you to stay on it for a long time. It's discouragingly dated.
Usability itself is all right, I just wish it looked better.
