My job is to handle data from the Site, validate and integrate the data correctly, and then update the same into a database like Oracle or SAP for further activities.
With the built-in functions and access to VBA, the task is automated, which eases our daily activity, and anyone can do analysis error-free.
  • Analysis
  • Automation
  • Data Handling
  • Pivot Charts Should be improved
  • Conditional formatting should be optimized (should not use large space)
  • VBA should have a proper code editor inbuilt
  • Should have options to work for large datasets
Microsoft Excel is well suited for analyzing smaller data sets, once we move on to large data sets it is less appropriate to use. It should not be used as a means to store or analyze large data sets. It is good if there are requirements of repetitive data analysis where we can use macros or VBA to automate the task.
  • Microsoft Excel should have around 50% of ROI
Microsoft Excel stacks up against them with better User Interface, this plays a more crucial role than any of the functionality that other software offers.
Its ability to have a lot of functions for handling day to day task and analyzing data and automating the task.
Microsoft Access can handle large amount of data sets, but it doesn't have that ease of interface.

Mostly the people in the IT Team will help issues related to Microsoft Excel.
Skills required by them would be good communication to understand what the problem of the end user.
Also, an active listener would be a good add on.
Should have the admin access along with that they will require a basic IT and networking skills.
  • Data Collection
  • Data Integrity Validation
  • Reporting
  • To integrate it with Oracle JDE or SAP for Bulk data Upload
  • For Automating Day to day task
Microsoft excel is a base for every organization.
Each organization works on data and that would be handled by Microsoft excel.
Be it analyzing, reporting, storing and collection of data, due to the easy interface and much more functionalities it stands up as a single software that each company can rely on.

We will evaluate based on the size of the team and functionality that the software will bring to the employee that can be helpful for the organization.
As it comes with Office 365 package, so it becomes easier to rely on this software as compared to others which are providing same functionality
Microsoft excel stands out in its User Interface as compared to any other software which offers same functionality.
It can be used by a beginner as well as the expert in the same field. It is having many features as we dig deep in it like advance functions, dynamic arrays, pivot, VBA and Macros.

We use Microsoft Excel for data analysis, financial analysis, and to generate graphs for Board reports. We use pivot tables a lot to produce needed results for data reporting and also for payroll and benefits tracking for our various funding sources.
  • Formulas
  • Pivot Tables
  • Subtotals
  • Sorting and Filtering
  • Sort feature does not work if there are blank rows; very frustrating
  • Sometimes pivot tables don't update with refresh; have to delete the entire table and redo.
Microsoft Excel is great for data analysis, grouping, summarizing, and reporting and also good for basic graphs and charts. I wouldn't use it for complex financial reporting or complex graphs and charts.
  • Our pivot tables for payroll and benefits have allowed me to identify exact costs by employee from multiple funding sources. This allows me to budget accurately and monitor expenses more exactly.
  • I use the charts and graphs as part of the financial report for our Board, which displays the financial data in an easy to understand format for Board members who do not have a strong financial background.
  • We export a lot of reports from other software programs into Microsoft Excel so we can perform data analysis to find answers to help make informed decisions.

Our IT consultant is Microsoft certified. A lot of questions are able to be resolved by other coworkers or looking up answers on the internet.
  • data analysis
  • sorting and filtering data
  • subtotaling data
  • pivot tables
  • Analysis of payroll and benefits
  • Visual representation of financial data for Board members
  • Account reconciliations (general ledger, PTO, etc.)
  • multi-year analysis of data
Excel is very easy to use and user friendly. It has a lot of functions that assist with manipulating data into a format that is usable and allows advanced sort and filter options in addition to pivot tables.

Speed - The program helps me with the time factor like Making salaries for employees, attendance and departure, registration of the visit to the company's customers Account. The program helps to make account sheets for employees or customers and their accounts and company expenses because there are many mathematical equations and easy to use in the program
  • Calculations
  • Entering and classifying data
  • The work of employees' sheets and data
  • the formula of functions and equations should be facilitated more
  • Add articles from Word to Excel
  • Make a presentation on the program
I am the director of human resources at Unicode. It helps me in the program in daily and monthly work in my field like Calculating the turnover of the labor, make employees' specifications and calculations, make it easier for job applicants to filter, facilitate monitoring of monthly increases in the company and the progress of employees
  • Increase the profitability of the company

Excel is used in every aspect of the business. In the R&D group, we use Excel daily to analyze data and look for trends to drive experimental design & decision making. Graphical elements of Excel are used to communicate the same data to more senior managers. In the PMO, Excel and Pivot tables are used for resource management, to determine when resources are available or insufficient. Excel is used in the budget generation process, where more advanced functions are used to collate expense projections across cost accounts.
  • Pivot Tables/Charts & Slicer
  • Sparklines
  • Charts - new types are added occasionally
  • Easy to open, navigate and start building spreadsheet
  • Familiarity as part of Microsoft Office - everyone knows it
  • Reviews. Other than adding Notes or Comments, you cannot see what someone changed (like Word) unless you manually "redline" the cells
  • Training - there are many features to Excel that most people are not aware of
As part of the Microsoft Office suite, using Excel is a given. Try to use it beyond a basic list, and the true power of Excel shines through, from the graphical elements to the statistical analysis. Unlike other Office tools, Excel is weak for reviews and [shows] redlines from reviewers. There are many functions to Excel, likely more than one can imagine, which you can glimpse at via any of the many training videos available online.
  • As an Office tool, Excel removes any inefficiencies from tool indoctrination. It is simple and fast to share Excel files between team members and update simultaneously if incorporated within Teams or SharePoint
  • Because of the familiarity of Excel, users are likely using only 20% of its functionality, which means a high potential (or lost opportunity) for increased productivity and efficiency.
  • The weak implementation of reviews has resulted in significant time loss while users manually generate 'redlines' to Excel files for reviews using font formatting.
Excel will always be selected because it's part of the Office Suite. We started to use Smartsheet, but the onboarding and training process took too long when compounded with licensing setup & costs. Apple Numbers works well, but without the maturity of Excel. Since Apple products are not prevalently used in business applications, Excel wins.

All aspects of company: Research and Development; Marketing & Product Management; Finance; IT; Operations; Quality; Sales; Field Service & Customer Support
  • IT department (4 people) supports all office tools, including Excel. There isn't someone dedicated to supporting Excel.
  • To support installation and upgrades, etc., general IT skills for installing programs is needed. To support Excel tool use, person needs to be an advanced user of Excel. Many in IT do not have this skillset.
  • Common tool - everyone has it installed
  • Familiar tool - Everyone has used it before
  • It's part of MS Office suite
  • We've used Excel for resource management - using simple color coding to compare resource needs vs capacity.
  • Use Excel to create simple Gantt charts for simple projects
  • Scenario analysis
  • Connect Excel to dynamic dashboards to skip static cut/paste
It comes with MS Office. Unless we stop using PCs or Microsoft Office, it's highly unlikely, even imperceivable to not continue to use Excel. It would be nice to see more Excel functions used, though, beside basic tables and calculations.

Excel is an integral part of our business. Most file sharing, and data reports are all communicated through Excel. It is something I use every day. Other employees use the tool as well for various functions. We work with significant amounts of data and Excel makes our work so much simpler and streamlined.
  • De-Dupe
  • Filters
  • Text to columns
  • More tutorials on various functions
  • Simpler work around to "text stored as number"
  • Like to see some auto-reports available in future
It is ideal for data cleansing, file sharing, and reporting of data. The interface has gotten so much more advanced over the years it is a great tool we use daily. It is less appropriate for formal reports, or presentations. For imagery, graphics and key takeaway points you are better served using PowerPoint.
  • It cuts our Data Administration time by over 50%.
  • We use Excel exports from our CRM to generate quick reporting and results to review.
  • It is simple to show new employees how to use.
We occasionally use access, but it really is not all the functional for our business process. Excel seems to be much more effective and simpler to use for our day to day operations. Excel allows us quick data sharing and reporting which is a key part of what we need for our clients.

We all use Excel, from upper management to entry level employees.
