The best software for managing large projects
- I can't imagine project management in my company without Microsoft Project. I believe that we have dependence on many activities developed over the years.
- Positive impact: always improves the management of our projects. The tool always evolves.
- Negative impact: needs to improve the functionalities for the management of agile projects. (makes our agile projects less agile)
- For our project teams, MS Project is a basic need for project planning. Since we've always had MS Project, we didn't calculate the ROI for this tool. It would be a negative ROI if we didn't have the tool for planning.
- The Gantt chart display of MS Project is used in project status meetings and presentations. All levels of management are well-versed on how to use & read MS Project files and visual outputs.
Project lifecycle managed with Microsoft project.
- helped in effective resource utilization
- reporting dashboard
- task management
The best project management solution hands down.
- The positive impact it has had on ROI is that it has helped increase productivity of users of the software. This is due to the fact that most everyone in our environment is already using other Microsoft software packages in their daily use, so using Project alongside of that has been beneficial, from the standpoint of being able to easily import Microsoft-based files into Project.
- Another positive impact related to the above point about running Project alongside other Microsoft based programs, has been in helping to avoid compatibility issues, as is seen in environments that use non-Microsoft Project software.
A Workhorse for Scheduling
- Overall we haven’t seen a large ROI.
- It has made us rethink our strategies for resource management.
- It has made us aware of things we never considered to be making us inefficient.

- We have significantly improved project planning, this has allowed us to be more successful and in less time. We can plan our projects to measure and work together to complete it in less time.
- We have been able to control the capital and funds we spend in planning and completing our projects. MS Project allows us to establish costs and control the agreed budget for the project to be carried out.
- Better fulfillment of the assignments of our projects. Previously, it was more difficult to know exactly which person has not fulfilled the assigned task.
- ASSET CONTROL. There are project assets that are required at the same time on different parts of the organization and MS Project can provide a detailed asset utilization view on those so that you can schedule properly.
- CONFLICT RESOLUTION. When the same person is expected to deliver 40hours per week on two different parts of your project you need a system that is able to highlight those utilization issues and help you manage them an reschedule tasks accordingly, if you keep your projects up to date this is a standard capability that works very well.
- IMPROVE COST MANAGEMENT. Having the capability to go into high level of detail of all your project tasks including labor costs, asset utilization but also vendor invoices licensing costs and the myriad other components of the financial aspects of a project.
- Decrease in project execution duration
- Concurrent view on costs to better manage them
