What is Microsoft Teams?

Microsoft Teams combines video conferencing software with team collaboration tools. The communications platform allows MS Office users to conduct conference calls and share files via SharePoint, and join or initiate a group chat.

Microsoft Teams features three tiers of pricing. The first is a subscription-less, free option that offers the same features as the other two tiers but does not offer administration tools like analytics and access to on-premise servers, or support features like 24/7 phone and web support. The second and third tiers are based on the size of your business and its conferencing needs. Its “Office 365 Business Premium” option starts at $12.50 a month per user, with a required annual commitment, and its “Office 365 E3” option for enterprises starts at $20 a month per user, also with a required annual commitment.

Key Features
Meetings: Meet with teams of 10 or 10,000. Host audio, video, and web conferences with anyone inside or outside your organization or go big with live events.

Calling: Its Phone System feature enables PBX capabilities including call control in Office 365 and replaces on-premises PBX. Its calling features are customizable to fit your organization’s unique needs.

We use Microsoft Teams for all internal communications among coworkers across the organization and it has proven to be a useful tool for exchanging documents. When we're in a hurry and need to see each other's screens, the screen sharing tool has come in handy. It's especially important for team members because they work in different locations. In comparison to other products such as Jabber and Webex, this has been the best application I've used to date.
  • It has a presentation mode, video recording, and the recordings, as well as the transcripts, are stored in the cloud.
  • Microsoft Teams is simple to set up and manage. Excellent quality for video and phone calls.
  • I also like how it connects to Outlook so you can view your calendar there.
  • Switching between presentations and screens is a bit difficult.
  • It slows down the laptop. When I turn on my laptop, it takes a long time for Microsoft Teams to load and I don't have to click on it to access it.
  • There should be an easier way to send recordings outside of your organization other than downloading from Stream.
One of the best internal communication platforms on the market is Microsoft Teams. The Outlook integration allows you to keep track of everything that happens throughout your day. Using instant messaging to communicate with your team is efficient and time-saving.

Microsoft Teams has become the main communication channel in our team.<br>It offers many advantages to the old and sometimes bulky classic emails.<br>The integration with other Microsoft Apps is good (not great) and offers many possibilities to make Teams a central hub for information exchange.<br>But the new pest after 'Reply to All' mails are new Team Channels popping up with every Project or Task. This can cet very confusing and hard to search for a specific bit of information or document buried deep in some random subchannel in some subfolder.
  • removes the pain from scrolling through endless long mail threads with mail signatures taking up most of the screen space
  • quick way to reach out to colleagues via message or voice call
  • integration with landline phone
  • share documents with certain colleagues or external partners
  • sometimes choses the wrong microphone (internal instead of headset) resulting in bad audibility
  • new version 2 lacks some features from old version
  • often it doesn't ring in the mobile app
It is good, but for me the main reason to use it is the integration with M365 - which we already have.

In my organisation Microsoft Teams is used mainly to do Conference calls We also use it to Collaborate on files saved on OneDrive Moreover it allows communitations between organisations, so communication is both internal and external The calendar feature in Microsoft Teams is used to schedule a meeting and also to organise the day The integration with outlook's calendar makes it even more interesting When we have to handover control to over people during a conference call Microsoft Teams is the way to go
Likewise we can set up integrations such as notification from other softwares
Channels/Teams can be created to message and collaborate with specific people
  • Screen sharing
  • Sharing screen control
  • Conference Call
  • Collaboration on files
  • Integration with Microsoft Office softwares
  • Can create groups to collaborate and communicate
  • Real time file editing between multiple members
  • Client for Linux based OS can be improved
It is well suited in a corporate environment where you have to collaborate with your team mates and the clients which are external to your organisation. It is a great tool when to host meetings where screen sharing, video conferencing and even only voice calls. It provides the facility to do international calls also. It is less suited in an environment where there are a few people working since there wont be the need for the extensive collaboration between team members

We use Teams on a daily-basis for a wide variety of meetings: internal and external. Sometimes in group, sometimes 1-1 (with only two participants). The Teams chat and the screen sharing features are almost always used. People turn their cameras on most of the time, and mute themselves when not speaking. Some participants join from their mobile device if they are not at the office or at home at the time of the call.
  • Screen-sharing capability
  • Team chat
  • Force-call attendees who are late to the call
  • The polls functionality is hard to find
  • Presenting a document and seeing people's faces is not easy
  • Muting a participant requires multiple clicks
I find Microsoft Teams really well suited for remote work. I work with web developers that are based abroad and Teams is our primary tool for meetings, file sharing and chats. I also use the 'Channels' feature to have discussions and track progress on particular projects and topics. Teams is however less appropriate for communicating and collaborating with people outside of your organisation as sometimes it is difficult to find their contact, and it can happen that their organisation does not allow communications (e.g. file sharing) from external senders.

Microsoft team we use for communicating with all the users in the organization for file sharing, Crated groups BU-wise help a lot of time to collaborate and communicate with all the teams. We use town hall meetings for the entire organization. We use it for daily Candence calls even we schedule calls with customers to resolve there issues.
  • we use channel-wise teams like production channel, quality channel, UAT channel
  • We use video conference for team awards and celebrations
  • we schedule the calendar for the whole month for planning the activites
  • In mobile it is lagging they have to improve in mobile function working area
  • When we are using it for town hall meetings it will be hang because of huge audience
  • Delay in Notification need to improve
It is very useful in working area where we can communicate, share files, build teams, channels, schedule meetings, award functions, planning for the whole month using calendar, Integration with other apps like jira.

If we have less users it is not much effectively used so it is good for larger users to manage the work in the any organization .

Microsoft Teams is a nice collaboration tool, we use in our organization as the main collaboration tool, we use it for chatting, meetings, inbound and outbound calls. The tool helped us move away from using soft phones that constantly cause issues with phone calls and now we have integrated our own phone number and we can receive and do calls. This enabled us to low cost by removing the need of 2 different software and cost of license per agent/user.
  • Setting up meetings and record them
  • Integrates natively with Outlook and one drive/Sharepoint
  • Create teams channels for specific tasks/projects and the conversation will be backed up along with files.
  • When you download files, the application can lag and even crash, this portion needs to be improved.
  • One to one calls cant be recorder unless you set up a meeting.
  • slowness when opening a file in the app, like a excell sheet.
  • Add meeting reminders when the meeting is about to start similar to Outlook.
Microsoft teams is well suited for enterprise chatting/collaboration tool, it goes very well for almost any company, for Tech companies it definitely fill the bill, it integrates to sharepoint/Outlook and this integration provides a very efficient environment. You can be on a MicrosoftTeams channel related to a project that at the same time is integrated to Sharepoint instance and we can access live the files we require and modify them if needed. It's perfect for call and video recording, you can set up a meeting in a matter of seconds because it helps us to add the invitee into the meeting.

Microsoft Teams is used for audio calls both internally and publicly (PSTN); group meetings with audio/video/screen-sharing; chatting with contacts; and team file access.
  • Audio calls both internally and publicly (PSTN)
  • Group meetings with audio/video/screen-sharing
  • Chatting with contacts
  • Providing present status of team members so that you know if colleagues are available or busy
  • Providing call health settings to identify the round trip time and percentage of received packet loss
  • Multi-organization account access is poor because it requires logging out in order to switch accounts
  • Lacking presence status and file access to account that one is no longer logged in to
  • Add ability to import a customized avatar
It works very well for chatting amongst colleagues. It retains the chat history of chats with individuals and for meetings. This is also great when you've joined a meeting that already began because it allows you to see chats that already took place. This way, you have access to weblinks and other contact info that was already posted in the chat.

We use Teams for daily communications. Without Teams, we would be left without a means of communicating our ideas and concerns.
  • Provide a means for chatting with other members of our team
  • Schedule teams meetings without need for a 3rd party app
  • Create teams groups to disseminate information
  • Teams meetings frequently drop calls and needs to be re-dialed.
  • Searching for words in Teams is not the best.
Teams is a good Microsoft product that allows for daily communication to team members. It's well suited for use in small teams. Another app might be more appropriated for very large teams that require a more dedicated app for meetings.

We use Teams to facilitate online meetings which are either on-one-one or with teams/squads.
  • Great user experience
  • Chat functionality embedded within each meeting
  • Well sync'd with Outlook
  • Can crash every now and then
  • Camera freezes - need to fix this defect which seems quite regular
  • Mobile app video call experience is lacking
Well suited - great tool to use for meetings, if you want to have a dedicated working chat group to communicate from
Not well suited - if using outside of work and users don't have the app downloaded on their machine

We use Microsoft Teams daily in our company. We have 2 branches and several remote employees across the country. Microsoft Teams keeps everyone together and on the same page. When used in conjunction with Sharepoint, it is like we are all in one place. We are able to share files, share our screens, we can plan meetings to happen on Microsoft Teams or quickly jump into a meeting if we need to address an issue quickly.
  • Microsoft Teams Meetings are easy to set up
  • Collaborating on specific projects
  • keeping track on where we are on projects
  • I would like to have an IT version where I could actually use Microsoft Teams to remotely assist end users with IT Issues.
  • I would like to have subgroups within a larger group with out having to create another group
We do our manufacturing forecasts in Microsoft Teams, We use Microsoft Teams to gather the information from each Department head, we have meetings to discuss upcoming sales and events that will have an effect on the production line ( ie...Large order for specific product that requires a complete shut down for cleaning before running will affect the processing of our regular product runs) With Microsoft Teams we are able to all stay on the same page and adjust production accordingly.

Microsoft Teams is used for conducting online meetings regularly and helps us to connect with each other virtually. It is used across the whole organisation. Video conferencing becomes easier and with a variety of tools and options that come with Microsoft Teams, the group discussions feel just like an in-person conference.
  • It is very simple to use and setup.
  • Lot of options available for the organisers like Breakout rooms etc.
  • It has a user friendly interface.
  • The feature of notifications in the mobile application could be improved. Sometimes notifications of different teams are not visible and are only visible when the application is opened.
  • It uses lots of computational resources while running and thus, slows down the system sometimes.
  • It allows a few channels per team. The number of channels could be increased for better productivity.
Microsoft Teams is ideal for organizations where employees regularly collaborate by sharing files, working on the same documents, updating the progress, etc. This is because different file formats are supported for online editing and collaboration with the help of Microsoft Teams. Additionally, for every file which is shared among the team members, emails are not sent again and again which helps in easily managing and organizing files. It is less appropriate where the team members have to instantly reply to an urgent task as sometimes the notifications are not sent properly which may lead to a delay in the work.

We are using Microsoft Teams for Team collaboration. We are using this tool for meetings, team catch ups, remote happy hours etc. Microsoft team is most widely used collaboration software. It has different applications for project management as well. We can manage task boards to track the progress of tasks, we are also having regular training sessions on Teams. Everything is super easy to use. No special training is required to use it. It's connected to Microsoft 365 applications. It's not that costly as well. So it's suitable for all the companies or individual use cases.
  • Virtual meetings
  • Project Collaboration
  • Remote Connectivity
  • Availability - These days there are many Microsoft outages reported throughout the world. Something needs to be done as soon as possible in this case.
  • Notifications are little less user friendly and needs some improvement
  • Noise cancellation feature is excellent but not that user friendly
Microsoft Teams can be used for team Collaborations at all level, but search feature in other products (like slack) are better. If your use case needs extensive search through chat history, you should try something else.

All team members use Microsoft Teams for communication and collaboration, to set up meetings, to conduct presentations to store and share important documents, etc. We find the application meets all our requirements, as it's easy to use, convenient, it's simple to take on board new enhancements and our capabilities are increasing all the time. It's a Godsend, and we couldn't cope without it. Its seamless interaction with other Microsoft products helps too.
  • It makes it easy to collaborate in meetings.
  • Its brilliant as a presentation tool.
  • Its great for storing documents and works brilliantly with Sharepoint.
  • It could be a bit better connected with outside applications.

At my company, we use Teams primarily to instant message one another across the entire organization. If you need a quick answer it is preferable to email. We also use it however to store and share documents. It is also great at taking and organizing notes. It also has task board functionality.
  • Integrates with Outlook and SharePoint
  • Instant messaging
  • Stores documents and notes
  • Hard to tell if someone is actually "away"
  • Missing some Lync functionality
  • Hard to find in SharePoint where docs are kept
Great instant messaging tool. It does a lot more than that too. You can call, screenshare, and store documents in a linked SharePoint site. Integration with Outlook means you can see who's available and who may be out of office before sending them an email. I like having the mobile app on my phone to stay connected.

We implemented Microsoft Teams a few years ago and starting adopting it as a replacement for Microsoft Skype for Business.
In the beginning adoption was slow and it was hard to get our staff and clients to move over.
However when the Covid Pandemic started we kept on sending out client/user comms about the features of Microsoft Teams.
We suddenly saw major adoption of Microsoft Teams and I can say this is one of the best collaboration and unified communication tools out there.
We use the Teams Channels for our Team collaboration and work. Sharing documents with users that need to work on it at the same time really works well. I have seen over 400 users work on a single document at the same time and we had no issues.

The Teams meetings work really well, Virtual Backgrounds are excellent, and is a major improvement compared to Skype for Business.
Finally, the multiple integration options with other apps, or the online web access functions are really great features. You are able to do everything in the Teams web app you can do in the desktop app.
  • Great collaboration tools and experience
  • Really good online meeting and meeting collaboration experience and tools
  • The Teams web function works really well and I sometimes prefer it over the desktop app
  • The additional add-ins available makes it truly great
  • The chat functions in Teams need some refinement and should give user options to move the Chat function to a more traditional IM style window as well. I know there was movement into the direction but I still thing improvement would be needed.
The overall collaboration between team members, teams, and even when teams are located all across the Global is a really great factor for team productivity.
The online meetings are really great and works really well with live captioning, etc.
The Teams online web version works just as great as the desktop clients.

We use it to conduct inter-district training via video link. We also use it to communicate over the internet, and provide the team with data and required materials. Configure systems via remote access and help the team. Microsoft Teams is also used to conduct voice calls with the team leads as well.
  • Voice/video calling.
  • Screen sharing.
  • Instant messages.
  • Share data/files.
  • Optimization.
  • Voice quality.
  • Video recording.
It is good if you are working with a team and have multiple daily meetings with the team members, you can use it easily. If you are working in a remote environment this is also good for you, but if you are working in an environment where there are no such scenarios, and you work on local computers, then this isn't a good solution for you.

Microsoft Teams is a useful platform for company wide communication by chat, phone and conferencing. With phone licenses you can also use it as teleohony system. The video conferencing options can be used for internal and also external meeting. With screen and application sharing, its a great collaboration platform that support the business a lot
  • Collaboration is made very easy
  • Chat platform is great for short ways of communication
  • Video conferencing
  • Telephony options could be improved
  • With VDI appkication sharing is not possible
If you need a colaboration platform for internal and external use, Microsoft teams is a great tool. Also if you like to collaborate closer with other / external compabies and partners.
Instead of writing emails, you can use the chat function to communicate fast and reliable. Also adhoc meeting and voicecall are a great tool to make communication and collaboration much easier.

Microsoft Teams is being used by our organization for virtual meetings, sharing files/documents, and chat purposes. This software is used by our whole organization. As due to Covid we are all working from home, it's very necessary to get connected and all information shared should be private so it helps us maintain proper passage.
  • We have a daily huddle over Teams.
  • Teams allows us to share any file and it helps to create different channels where we can upload our file so any new joiner can easily find documents.
Where Microsoft Teams is well suited:
  1. Teams help us to create huddle for discussing our daily tasks.
  2. Teams provides a secure communication path between our team members.
  3. Teams helps to create different channels for different departments and I can upload any files.

My organization switched to Microsoft Teams a few years ago. It has some great collaboration features. My favorite is to documentation repository for Teams to access and create lists. It has made access to documents across the organization easy. I do wish Microsoft Teams allowed notification in a List. For example, I created a list to track issues for a system, Microsoft Teams did not send a notification to the recipient when a record was added. I also wish it allowed assigning multiple recipients to a record.
  • Creating a document repository such as meeting minutes, document sharing
  • Creating a list for any purpose of tracking
  • Ability to call and connect to personnel
  • Access to organization calendar
  • Ability to add multiple recipients to a list
  • Notification via email when a document is uploaded or a record is added to a list
  • Ability to clear out chat permanently
Microsoft Teams is well suited for collaboration and access to team calendars and documents. My personal favorite is recording a meeting and transcript creation. This is perfect to go back and review discussions and screens. I do wish meeting recordings were downloadable to all attendees and not just the host.

We currently use Microsoft teams as our internal communication and collaboration platform. From having team channels, to team/individual calls/meetings and notifications to integrate with other tools. It is giving us a place to easily share/store files with our team and others in the organization. It does also give us a way to have meetings internally.
  • File sharing and storage
  • Organized channels/chats
  • Small group/team video meetings
  • Larger team meetings and events (audio/video quality isnt the best and not user friendly)
  • When creating a teams channel, it should have a check to make sure another distribution list or email isn't already created with the same name
  • More levels of access so changes aren't dependent on overall admins
I think if you do not currently have a collaboration tool or phone system. Teams can do both of those things (collaboration a lot better than for their software, but, not their phone platform necessarily). It can integrate with a lot of the current contact centers out there so it gives you the option to still be flexible there.

We use Microsoft Teams as our primary collaboration and communications platform with various departments of the company. It is also used for building teams' documents and providing a centralized location for document repository and a bridge to the Microsoft SharePoint document repository.
  • Collaboration Tool for chat service
  • Collaboration tool for Virtual meeting rooms and virtual video conduct meetings
  • Use as a primary desk phone call within the organization and also outside the organization (vendors such as Microsoft).
  • Provide better call quality on cellular network
  • Facial recognition when speaking with zooming in on the person capabilities.
  • Integrate better virtual whiteboard capabilities such as sticky notes for Scrum meetings as an example.
Microsoft Teams are suited in every industry when we have a worldwide pandemic situation. It also provides companies to collaborate in real-time from anywhere and thus giving the employee and employers to be in real-time regardless of their location. Life and Harmony balance!

Microsoft Teams is used as the internal communicator for chatting and scheduling meetings. Since it’s integrated with Microsoft Outlook, it very easy to schedule a meeting from Outlook and share the Teams meeting invite automatically. It also supports group chats and group calls which helps to instantly connect with team members other than scheduled meetings.
  • Chats and calls
  • Meetings
  • Group chats or discussions
  • I can’t really think of anything
It’s well suited for large organizations as a main communicator tool where people can easily search for team members and chat or call instantly. Can schedule meetings which can be video or audio meetings. Also groups can be created for an project based or discussion based I.e creating bridges for discussions and collaboration.
