We use Mimecast Enterprise Information Archiving company wide. It was an asset during our migration to Office 365 where we were able to easily recover all our old emails from the Mimecast Portal quickly and seamlessly. Mimecast's archive is designed in such a way that you can recover important emails only in case you don't find the emails on Exchange after the migration.
  • Quick email search capabilities.
  • Ability to view an old email within the archive without having to download it.
  • Great E-discovery capabilities as users do not have the ability to delete emails perpetually
  • Easy to use and manage
  • On the archive, all emails are highlighted hence you will not know when you have an unread email that you might have accidentally deleted on outlook but was automatically archived in Mimecast
Given that Mimecast offers a bottomless archive, their archiving solution is best suited for organizations struggling with storage space for their ever growing mailbox. With the new sync and recover capabilities, you can use Mimecast's EIA as a DR for your mail service in case you loose data on the mail server and you want to recover it quickly to any point in time. Another great scenario is when moving to a cloud service such as Office 365. There is always fear of loosing data during this migration hence having Mimecast EIA would offer your company peace of mind that your data is safe.
  • User undeletable archive
  • E-discovery capabilities
  • Access to a mobile and web app
  • We save on time required to search through hundreds of emails
  • Saves us on employee productivity by offering us business continuity when our mail service is unavailable
  • Exchange Online Archive
Users are not able to delete emails hence Mimecast EIA becomes a very useful tool during e-discovery. For EOA, they offer an inplace archive which means that emails can be deleted if the service is not turned on.
Yes
Mimecast replaced Exchange Server archive. We opted for Mimecast as it is a fully cloud services hence we no longer needed to invest in on premise equipment. We were also migrating our emails from Exchange to Office 365. This meant that we need a solution that would support emails in the cloud allowing all users to have access on the go and on any device.

Mimecast offers one of the best in market email archiving services. This was therefore a no brainer. We need to ensure that user emails were always available and for IT the auditing trail capabilities are unmatched. Coupled by the fact that users cannot delete emails already in the archive which would make e-discovery very easy.
To be honest, if we were to do it again, we would still make the same choice. Mimecast provides a solution that works and rarely 'breaks down'. The guarantees and SLAs on uptime and availability and in the top percentile hence we would still lean towards this solution even today.
