Tool to help present and organize information in a mind map.
  • Templates.
  • Present information in multiples format.
  • Import data to create a map.
  • Create a mind map based on a data source.
My recommendation will be based on the purpose. For general use, some free, open source or simple mindmap many tools are already available. For the export format in office documents, I think it was good.
  • None.
  • Brainstorming
  • Education & Training
I’m not sure
I did not know it was able to do that. I’ll take a look again.
For my day-to-day need, I use Xmind. Simpler, cheaper.
Yes
At first, I used MindManager to replace Visio which was pretty expensive and less easy to use.
  • Integration with Other Systems
  • Ease of Use
Export and import possibilities. I realized what I was really looking for was a too to manage knowledge and graphically present it and its links.
  • Creating a mind map and its structure.
  • Transforming one style to another.
No
I don’t think it is complicated… except if you use the other format available, like the process mapping. I find it more intuitive to use Visio.

We have used MindManager within our department to produce process flowcharts, process planning, project management, and notetaking. We found that it boosts productivity by allowing everyone involved in a project to collaborate as it has tight integration with MS Office and other business tools such as Microsoft Teams. It takes less effort to use compared to other tools and it was a great tool that we used to collectively gain visualization of our projects and processes.

  • Knowledge Management
  • Meeting Management
  • Problem Solving
  • Project Planning
  • Great to segment things out (projects, organizational charts, processes, workloads, etc) and gives you a full picture of the job.
  • It is user friendly, simple to use, and powerful.
  • MS Office and Teams integration is great. Allows for easy collaboration.
  • Great GUI and visuals
  • Excellent method for project planning and brainstorming
  • It can be difficult to print your mind map in a font that is large enough to easily read.
  • Certain features for first-time users are a bit daunting and there is a slight learning curve.
  • The help options can be enhanced.

I like how user-friendly MindManager is for someone who has learned how to use the program. I've tried many mind mapping tools, both online and offline and I find MindManager does it right the first time without any issues. It is also visually perfect, very intuitive, and offers all features you might need. MindManager produces really sharp and professional maps that can be used on screen shares and presentations without any hesitation. It is suited well for organizing personal projects and tasks. I use it to manage most of my personal information when not doing departmental projects and tasks.
  • Improved collaboration
  • Saved time and efforts
  • Improved productivity of project managers
MindManager has a good number of templates that one can use to easily create flowcharts, organization charts, and workflow processes. There are also a good number of built-in icons and images in the repository that can be added to flowcharts. We used to use a Microsoft product to conduct the same work and it took a significant amount of time to produce. While exploring MindManager, we were quite impressed with how much time was saved using the program and also adding added features such as collaboration.
We are still evaluating MindManager but we felt that it easily integrated with Microsoft Office and Teams than Lucid and that was really important for our team. We love the single sign-on feature and all the integration features that come with the program. We will continue to evaluate MindManager and hope to incorporate it in the near future.
We did not purchase the premium support as we are still trialing the software program. We will consider purchasing it when we make a purchasing decision.
No
Sometimes, it’s not just about an individual advisor going the extra mile for the customer, but a customer service team coming together in the best interests of the customer. When I came across an issue with understanding a function of MindManager, the customer service representative gave me assistance and also provided me with documentation and explained the entire support process. After a few days the representative contacted me to follow up and see if I needed any further assistance. I appreciated this exceptional support efforts.
  • Linking individual Outlook e-mails to your mind maps
  • Map the contents of your files and folders
  • Manage information quickly and logically
  • Drag and drop within the map sometimes is tricky, making placement, or rearrangement of items frustrating
  • Microsoft Project integration does not exist
Yes, but I don't use it
A team can collaborate on the same project but cannot create a shared project file. It would be helpful for that feature to be added.
We have had no issues with the application's availability
The application is quick and responsive. We are able to produce mindmaps and reports with ease. The program is not complicated at all and integrates well with software and programs like Microsoft Outlook and Teams, which we truly appreciate.

I took the BABOK guide and completely transferred all the content, text, chapters and illustrations into a mind map. I can see relationships between various chapters much more easily.
Not applicable, I only use MindManager.

It is used to capture ideas during brainstorming activities and to organize topics for presentations. It is also used as a high level planning tool in conjunction with MS Project.
  • Using keyboard shortcuts it is easy to construct a map
  • Easy to share with others, even those who do not have MindManager on their computer
  • Access to large number of map templates
  • Offer easier to use or insert graphics
  • More free-form lines and topics. Make it easier to stray from the templates on topic placement
Does it integrate with existing office products? It is appropriate for brainstorming and quick idea maps.
  • Leads to quicker creation of reports when organizing information with MindManager
  • Effectively share information with others in a clear graphic style
MM integrates better with Office vs Novamind. MM is the recommended mapping software for our company. We have colleagues already using MM so it is easier to share maps across the organization.
Our company supports its use. We are already familiar with how to use it. Lower learning curve vs switching to another application is also a factor in renewing.

Does most things well. Would be nice to make features like adding information to topics easier from the keyboard.
