The software provided by this company has been widely implemented by users to manage their time and calls more efficiently, particularly in phone-heavy environments. Users have found value in using it as their preferred VoIP product for delivering client solutions, offering voice and collaboration capabilities along with excellent mobility features. By utilizing this software, organizations are able to streamline communication across the entire company, eliminating the need for multiple media platforms and enabling direct messaging with peers. This implementation aims to address communication issues within the organization as a whole. However, some users have encountered challenges in configuring the software and find it not very user-friendly for non-phone system administrators. Additionally, while the Mitel phone system is well-liked for its features, other conferencing platforms like Zoom and GoTo are often considered better options for hosting conferences. Nevertheless, the Micollab app has proven to be crucial for various departments within organizations such as school teachers, tech helpdesk, HR, and service representatives who interact with patients, schools, teachers, and doctors on a daily basis. It allows them to contact families without showing personal phone numbers, especially during the pandemic closures. Users also appreciate the flexibility of using the software both at work and when working from home since it is preferred over traditional desk phones. It supports a flexible work environment by coupling a user's phone with their laptop, allowing access to company phones from anywhere. The convenience offered by this software increases productivity and efficiency as it provides a single application for voice, messaging, presence, audio conferencing, mobility, and team collaboration regardless of location. It is also utilized for internal meetings and online collaboration, particularly benefiting remote employees and international offices. While the product works effectively overall, users have noted that it has not kept up with competitors in terms of capabilities and innovation, prompting some to consider evaluating other solutions. Nonetheless, MiCollab serves as a valuable real-time phone directory that enables staff to use the chat function, check voicemails, and route phone calls within the app, ultimately saving time and effort when using Mitel devices.

Easy and Helpful Deployment: Many users have found the deployment of the phone system to end users easy and helpful, with client deployment being particularly smooth. They appreciate the email feature that provides access to download the software through multiple methods, making it beneficial on the consulting side.

Convenient Messaging Platform: Users consistently praise the simplicity of the messaging platform as it fulfills its purpose without unnecessary and clunky features commonly found in other instant messaging platforms. They also highlight the convenience of being able to view messaging and call history with just a click of a button.

Flexible Call Management: Reviewers frequently mention their appreciation for the flexibility provided by the system, allowing them to choose which device they want to receive calls on - desk phone, PC, cell phone - even when working from within the office premises.

Difficult SIP registration process: Some users have found the SIP registration process during initial setup to be difficult and tricky. They recommend taking a MiCollab class and having experience with SIP and Wireshark in order to navigate it successfully.

Lack of integration for SMS and Faxing: Some users have mentioned that there is a lack of integration for SMS and Faxing into the platform. However, they acknowledge that they may not have taken advantage of it if it exists.

Limited customization options: Some users desire more customization options within MiCollab, specifically suggesting inverted or high-contrast color schemes for better usability. These customization options would allow users to personalize their experience and enhance the overall usability of the platform.

Based on user reviews, the most common recommendations for MiCollab are as follows: Use MiCollab for companies with remote and work-from-home employees, as it is valuable for facilitating phone calls, chat communication, conference calls, and video calls. Seek third-party support for assistance and better support, especially in cases of issues with user customization and connection loss during client calls. Improve user customization options to allow for more flexibility and address connection loss during important client calls.

We set this product up approximately 5 years ago. The product works, BUT the product has not kept up with its competitors who have far surpassed this product's capabilities. My recommendation for anyone seriously considering this product for the collaboration tools is to evaluate competitors - who typically have more robust solutions. My recommendation to Mitel is to figure out who you want to be - a telecom provider or a collaboration customer. If you're trying to be the latter, you really need to be much more innovative and agile.
  • The phone system works well.
  • Collaboration tools have not kept pace with other competitors.
  • Speakerphone is sub-par with vast room for improvement.
With on-premise infrastructure, this product tends to run smoothly. We have yet to evaluate Mitel's cloud offerings, which appear to be good, but quite expensive.

As a phone system, the product does what it's supposed to do. As a collaboration tool, it has very basic functionality but that's about it.

  • This product was competitively priced when originally purchased. We will need to evaluate whether to replace it when it approaches the end of life or simply upgrade it.
  • Users typically only use the phone system because the collaboration tools have been superseded in functionality by other tools.
Support is typically handled by a reseller. Buyers should evaluate the reseller as much as they evaluate Mitel for the product suite.

The few times when the reseller was not able to handle the issue directly, Mitel did step up and quickly answer/address the question/issue.

MiCollab is used as the real-time phone directory for our organization. It also allows staff to use the chat function, check their voicemails from within the app and toggle where their phone calls are routed to within the app. Using this tool saves staff time and effort when using their Mitel devices.
  • The directory search function.
  • Controlling of Mitel equipment (desk phone, softphone, mobile).
  • Not good integration with the ACD (call center agents). It cannot be used as a softphone only with ACD.
  • The chat function can be improved.
  • Setting up provisioning can only be pushed from server-side, especially on re-deployment or changes.
Mitel MiCollab is well suited to phone directory searches.

  • Has helped with some type of collaboration within the organization.
  • It has not really been adopted by all staff.
Not as good as its competitors but does the job. It needs to have more features and integrate with other applications.
Mitel support is good but I have not really dealt with them directly. We go through our phone provider for support who requests from Mitel.

We have implemented this company-wide and have been using it for about a year now. We are a very phone-heavy company and this helps the users to manage their time/calls more efficiently. It also helps with conference calling and mobile use - making our salespeople more efficient as they can be reached at almost any time and location
  • See who is using the phone at a given time
  • Easy to use pop-up window alerts you to incoming calls, lets you transfer to VM or other users, helpful for conference calling
  • Has chat feature to tag someone when they are on the phone, or you just don't want to call
  • App for smartphone allows for desk phone to cell phone collaboration
Excellent for the receptionist - allows easy transfer and viewing of incoming calls. The chat feature is helpful as well. Transfer and conference options are easy to use click option. Good for sales as well - easy to sync phone and smartphone so they are never out of reach. Also good for checking message and calls that may have been missed

  • Simplify phone use, making it easy to make and receive calls
  • Decent app for phones as well - helps with twinning on Mitel
  • App allows you to view missed calls when your synced with your desk phone
This is good for syncing with your Mitel desk phone (we use cloud-based Mitel service). It is definitely a help with that system. As for a stand-alone product, I don't see that it would be useful (like Skype). Does not have video conferencing. It does have a chat feature, but its only within your system - not external. This is really an add-on to the Mitel system - its makes using their phone system easier and better but does not work outside that sphere.
Initially, support from Mitel was fantastic, but recently it has started to lag significantly. Response takes 8 hours, at a minimum, usually requiring a second call to spur a response. Email support is even worse (email in a ticket) - I have had to call in to get things running the 3 times I've tried to email support.
Yes
Most recently, I had an issue were two users were swapped, i.e. when user A's phone would ring, user B's MiCollab would pop up and vice versa. This was not really resolved until a larger issue occurred with MiCollab about a week later. Once the larger issue was resolved, the original 'swapped' issue was resolved
Original setup with Mitel was fantastic - solid support, constant contact, updates, et al. My issues were covered and resolved quickly and accurately, I was updated throughout the process (for install and issues), and after the closure was followed up with by my account rep. I never had any worries that I was forgotten or ignored.
