Miva Merchant has been around longer than the majority of carts out there by far, and it continues to grow and add more functionality and features with every release. Clients not only need a secure ecommerce cart to handle their business, but they also need customer support. Miva continues to expand as a company and offers 24/7 support through a number of channels (including phone support!). If there's a problem, clients always have someone they can talk to to help get it resolved.

Miva Merchant is definitely going in the right direction – keeping the end-user in mind as well as not adding feature load just for the sake of adding it. Again – can’t stress the flexibility of the platform enough from a developer standpoint.

For most clients, the MIVA Merchant platform, in combination with 3rd party plugins from ADS, Emporium Plus, eMediaSales and Sebenza, has all of the bells and whistles they need. While MIVA is lacking in a mobile friendly option and the ability to easily sell soft goods like mp3's or eBooks, these additions are coming to MIVA soon. The lack of connectivity to popular POS systems is also a negative for us. We will certainly continue to offer MIVA Merchant to clients.

Miva Merchant works! It is a stable platform, it uses many standards and when it does break, typically due to database corruption, if you know a little about SQL or have a Miva support package, repairs are typically minutes away Vs. hours or days.

Frankly, we periodically review what is available, and while there are many companies popping up all the time, there are just as many winking out of existence. With how easy it is to 'create' a basic platform and a company these days, I would recommend anyone give serious weight to 1. how long a company has been selling 2. overall and especially CURRENT customer satisfaction and 3. growth potential.

I think it's quite good at what it does. For clients who don't necessarily need to take advantage of a full-blown content management system (CMS), MIVA is still a good option. MIVA takes security quite seriously and that is another important factor for myself and my clients.

Over the past 12 years I have been extremely pleased with my overall experience using Miva Merchant. I have not found a shopping cart as powerful as Miva Merchant for $50/mo. on a dedicated server or $440/mo. on a dedicated server. The added modules, superb support, and constant evolving tools will keep me a customer for years to come!

We repeatedly voiced our concerns to our Miva rep and their management, but ultimately found no compelling reason why we should remain. There are some vocal fans out there who may attack this review. To those merchants and developers happy with how the platform fits their needs, I genuinely wish them the best and hope they have continued success. However, for our particular circumstances, where keeping up to date with new store features is of paramount importance, Miva Merchant is way behind the pack and continues to putter along at a snail's pace. I really hate to be so negative, but there's really no way to sugarcoat how disappointing their platform's become and how next to nothing has been done to improve matters.

Miva Merchant serves its purpose-a great shopping cart that can handle the task of customization and great customer support. We like the look and feel, functionality and versatility. Miva Merchant’s third-party software vendors are also friendly and supportive of their products as well as knowledgeable of Miva Merchant.
