Moat Analytics is used primarily as the preferred viewability partner our agency uses for all digital display campaigns. It offers a number of various metrics that we are unable to measure with a third-party ad server. Some of the metrics our agency focuses on include: “In-View Measurable Impressions” and “In-View Impressions”. Capturing and reporting these metrics allows us to see if our digital placements are actually being seen by users. The implementation process for the MOAT pixels for display and video is a very easy process. One issue we do have with MOAT is if the placement isn’t served in the third-party ad server, we are unable to implement the MOAT pixel for anything site served. This may cost additional dollars for ad serving, however, we are able to implement the MOAT pixel and ensure the publishers are keeping up industry benchmarks for viewability.
  • Moat offers a number of granular metrics that you’re not be able to track with 3rd party ad servers.
  • The interface of the platform is relatively easy to navigate and drill campaigns down to the placement level.
  • Moat allows you to completely customize a report in any particular way you’d like to export.
  • I’ve experienced some issues exporting reports into an Excel doc and have to manually copy and paste data with can be very time-consuming.
  • You have to manually wrap video tags with the MOAT pixel which can be a tedious process.
  • Video and display are in separate interfaces so you have to export separately and then consolidate into one report.
Moat is well suited to implement into digital placements that are being served through third-party ad servers (Campaign Manager, Flashtalking, etc). It holds your publishers accountable from a viewability standpoint.

If you are running high dynamic or site serving placements with 1x1 or click trackers, you aren't able to measure viewability and are at the mercy of publishers providing viewability metrics.
  • It has given the media and analytics team more granular metrics to measure for campaigns that may have awareness objectives and no KPIs.
  • Measuring view ability ensures that clients media dollars are being viewed by the targeted audience.
  • Moat allows you to gain metrics that can be very insightful and how users are interacting with placements, creative, etc.
Moat and IAS seem to be front-runners to measure viewability in the digital media space. Using Moat allows you to measure a number of different metrics but is limited to viewability. IAS offers the same capabilities when it comes to viewability but in addition offers brand safety and ad fraud.

Moat Analytics is being used across the business team. We use it to see how campaigns have done/are doing for our clients. It allows us to hone in on interaction and touch rates and compare which ads performed better. Lastly, it gives us the opportunity to become smarter with our clients.
  • Breaks down how well each creative has done in a campaign.
  • Allows us to see the progress of a campaign through its time live.
  • Can easily be organized to pull the data you're looking for.
  • Can export into an excel doc to then dig deeper and format and look at data outside of Moat.
  • Pull data in real time as you can only pull data from the prior day.
  • Video metric would be helpful
Moat Analytics is great when it comes to breaking down how creatives and total ad campaigns have performed. It gives us insight on what we can suggest to the client on what they can do better next time or continue to do that seemed to have attracted the most amount of interactions and clicks. Right now we do not use Moat for breaking down video metrics.
  • Clients really appreciate the insight we give them on how their ads are performing.
  • We are able to see the gradual progress overtime with how our ads perform.
Moat gives our team more insight into how campaigns are running. They give a more detailed breakdown per creative whereas other platforms only touch upon the limited or more specific information.
