2 - Administrating Moodle requires a bit of a learning curve. There are specific technical requirements to setting Moodle up, and we have done some custom modifications to the system to expand the reporting capabilities. For example, we show videos in each of our courses and have integrated additional code which lets us track plays, pauses, and video finishes.

I support Moodle every day for the faculty and occasionally for the student who has an out of the ordinary something that happens to them. The other person runs our server all of the time, and keeps up with all of our upgrades. He and I talk every day. He occasionally helps me out with the faculty as well. Most of our faculty ask very few questions at this point.

Of the other two people, one guy will help out occasionally if we need a code written in to help us out with something needed in Moodle. We also have the other person who puts in our courses into Moodle at the beginning of each semester.

2 - Previous experience with Moodle is good. Our system admin has some PHP and server knowledge that makes him my resource. A general knowledge of what an LMS does is good, with the ability to troubleshoot issues as well as IT security measures to assist with the enrollment key and user credential policies is recommended.

5 - We have one full-time LMS administrator. Moodle is also supported by a team of 2-4 Instructional Designers, one learning resource designer, and our regular IT staff as part of their responsibilities (up to 8 employees, including part time). Technical administration of Moodle requires knowledge of web servers and protocols, especially PHP, SQL, and some familiarity with XML. Our linux server administration is handled by a hosting service.
