Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I used Munis for Accounting and Human Resources/Payroll. It was used across our whole organization with the exception of the Tax Collector and the Building Department. The business problems it solved is we were able to go entirely paperless using Munis. It also kept impeccable records and you were able to set very specific permissions.

Pros and Cons

Excellent for the municipal Financial program. Completely paperless.
Workflow is easy and easy to adjust.
Very Very user friendly even for the non computer savvy employees.
Windows based so easy to navigate.
Excellent help desk.

Room for improvement for the Building Dept. software. Could not get it to work so we ended up getting rid of it and going back to our old system.
The payroll side could use more fine tuning. You have to manipulate some things to get them to work properly.

Munis is very well suited for the financial software that it offers. We were able to go completely paperless on the financial side. The Accounts Payable module is excellent if you use the workflow properly otherwise, it can get out of hand. The HR module for Munis is great. It was very easy to use and I like the fact that it has a "Train and Test" module so you can try things out before you did it live. It was especially helpful in the budget process. The budget module was very easy to use and gave a more accurate proposed budget to the Town Council.
I would not recommend for the Building Dept as the permit module needs a lot of work.
