Namely is a refreshing take in the staid sector of HRIS

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Namely is the HRIS for our company, from when we were under 50 employees to now over 150 employees. We use it for all Onboarding and document e-signature, all Managed Payroll Services, Benefits Administration & Brokerage, Training & Compliance, PTO tracking, other employee records, and Performance Management. We only are light users of it social components.

Pros

  • comprehensive
  • user-friendly (for both administrators and users), with an intuitive UI
  • ease of setup and detailed customization options
  • ease and detail of reporting and analytics
  • constantly evolving and adding new functionalities

Cons

  • Managed Payroll UI could be improved
  • Employee record keeping functionalities could be more robust
  • Performance Management customization could be more robust

Return on Investment

  • Significant ROI for leanly resourced HR team (robust employee self-service, automation of a lot of onboarding, compliance, etc
  • Significant ROI for HR team - HR support resources and training for more junior members of HR to utilize and self-teach
  • Less robust ROI from a goal setting & performance management perspective

It gets the job done but could be more

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

For our organization, Namely is our HRIS system since 2017 and we also use the performance review module.

Pros

  • User friendly
  • Intuitive
  • Social media feature for employee engagement
  • Cloud access

Cons

  • Performance management function is very basic
  • More templates for employee sharing
  • I think there is room for improvement in Namely with Reports for employee engagement
  • Add peer recognition feature

Return on Investment

  • Perform mostly as expected
  • ROI in line
  • Employees are used to using it.

Happy Namely User

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Namely HRIS, Payroll, Benefits & Time across our whole organization. Namely has helped us tremendously keeping track of our COVID sick pay and have helped put our mind at ease with their knowledge of the CARES Act and their implementation to the program.

Pros

  • Signed documents are stored directly in the app.
  • Employees love how easy it is to submit PTO.
  • We have just finished setting up all our EDI benefits files and I love that it takes a lot of extra work off me.
  • Processing payroll is a breeze.

Cons

  • The biggest con I hear from employees is that their payroll check does not show pending the day before.
  • When a Workflow has been declined by any chain, the target's manager (the person who created the workflow) is not notified. This is a big problem for us.
  • Their ACA support is not the best. You call in and talk to someone about your issue and then they talk to Namely's ACA specialist and then they relay the answer to you. You do not get to talk directly to the ACA specialist so if you go back and forth with questions (like I did), it takes forever to get a problem solved.

Return on Investment

  • The ability for employees and managers to get information on themselves and those who report to them without waiting on a response from someone.
  • Streamlined workflows that eliminate numerous emails and forgotten steps.

Usability

Outstanding.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use Namely for HR, payroll, benefits administration, compliance, and time tracking. We used to be at ADP, a done-for-you PEO. I prefer the DIY platform of Namely, both for the direct control and broad array of services and benefits choices I can offer to our employees and for the direct control by employees to log hours and get any information they need without needing to bother anyone in the HR department.

Pros

  • Benefits offerings to employees.
  • Integration of payroll and time tracking.
  • Website layout.
  • Ease of registering employees in more than one state.

Cons

  • At the conclusion of onboarding sessions, they always ask, "do you have any questions" but the sessions are scheduled with a 'hard out" so it can sometimes feel like questions would take too long.
  • Every communication needs to be written on their platform. I would prefer just picking up the phone to ask a question. It would take less time to get the issue resolved.

Return on Investment

  • Saved cost of benefits while increasing coverage.
  • Spend less time administering payroll.

Usability

Is the name in HR software still Namely?

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Namely is the HR system for managing employees from hours, to performance reviews, tax paperwork, team assignments and vacation time for our full time employees.

Pros

  • ease of access to critical data
  • consolidates all HR functions into one platform
  • provides top level insight into corporate structure for inter-departmental communication
  • tracks hourly employees

Cons

  • job code and time tracking
  • the time clock app
  • general ease of setup and use - many users struggle to set up some of the time tracking features

Return on Investment

  • while many companies are seeing turnover, Namely is a great way to keep up to date on all things related to labor capital.
  • nobody likes performance reviews, and Namely has a somewhat labor intensive process.
  • the hourly time tracking is not quite there
