Namely does not compare to Workday because the size and scale of the company is very different. There are a lot of automated features and ATS integrations that Workday offers and I hope Namely will be able to offer someday as well.
We have benefited from the payroll and timekeeping side of things, but we are struggling with the manual nature of the performance management piece.
We have been able to automate most onboarding forms. This allows me to find all new hire forms needed for their employee file create in one place. Since we are required to keep physical files onsite it is very easy for me to go into Namely and print all the information I need.

They represent HR, Operations, Warehouse, Finance, Leave Management, Payroll, and Administration. Some employees only use it for time keeping and for keeping their personal information up to date. For the admin users, we use it for reporting for our respective units and other everyday employee life cycle items. Payroll items are varied but super helpful for a lot of the state reporting.

Our internal HR team supports Namely and we reach out to customer service for any issues that we can handle. We all posses an understanding of systems, how to build processes, and detail oriented. Namely is easy to understand and learn and most of our team picked up how to use it properly after a month.

Again I was not involved in making the decision as I was not an employee at that time. But the biggest thing that I have heard is that Namely was chosen for it's cost effectiveness and ease of use. Namely also offers great customer service and is able to connect us with a third party if they are unable to help with something (which is rare).
Again I was not involved in this process but had I been I would have focused more on it's scalability, integration capabilities, and a list of the manual data transfer points within the system. I think if we had more awareness in these areas the company could have asked better questions and generated work arounds quickly.
We recently had some issues surrounding taxes in a state that we have a physical location in. The Namely support team was able to provide me with a clear and concise list of what was needed from our organization. Once they had everything they were able to help us quickly pay the past due amounts and ensure that we had the correct tax rate going forward.
I have not had the opportunity to provide feedback on enhancements, this is done by our primary administrator. But she is aware of my request for better integration between the HCM and Payroll and I believe they are in the process of fixing that issue for us. I believe they take our requests seriously and do their best to delivery or provide an alternate solution when they cannot.
The biggest impact from the onboarding enhancements is that I no longer have to duplicate my templates in order to update them. I also love that I can see where my new hires are in their onboarding process so that I can reach out to help them along. On the reporting side I love that I can build customer reports and that I can save them and allow my team access if they need them.

- We grew our company from 70 to 112 people and we needed a human resource mgmt. sys'.
- We were able to hire and distribute hiring documents efficiently.
- We have been able to use the timecard system for helping with payroll.
This tool is uniquely different than work productivity tools. When running a growing company it is necessary to have a virtual HR Resource service and Namely has facilitated the need. When I came to work for our company this was my first experience with this type of software service and it was delightfully easy to use.
Yes, it allowed me to easily have access to company forms, instructions, and a library of resources all from my remote home location.
Getting tax information, requesting time-off, changing health insurance coverage information, promotional compensation information.

- Prior Experience with the Product
The HR dept. was use to a different platform and felt the team and culture could get acclimated and greater benefit quicker using this platform.
It was evaluated at the C-level, however, they did request feedback and short surveys reflection on experience using it as well as any unsatisfactory feedback.

We use Namely for both our for-profit and non-profit organizations. From the beginning, Namely erased most of our organizational "pain points". After just two years, we use Namely as our go-to people forum. We share news, goals, events. We pay our people. We have a window into our company strategy and operating plan because Namely makes it easy for us to share our vision, mission, values and strategies with our employees. Namely has become our single version of truth for employees.
- Company, team and individual goals with measurable details can be shared, tracked, measured and celebrated - with ease.
- Performance reviews, recognition, celebrating wins, remembering key employee events - Namely makes it so easy.
- The news feed, photo org charts, customizable fields for things like allergies, commuting preferences, food preferences, etc., makes it easy for us to personalize events, treats and gifts.
- CUSTOMER. SERVICE. Well-kept secret.
- CEO is deeply committed to the small to mid-sized company experience. And he's an innovator.
- Constantly improving and evolving the product features based on what we users suggest. Serious commitment to fixing what's wrong with tired providers like ADP.
- Weird as it seems, their invoices are confusing. Head scratcher.
- Wish we could get all of the product features we know are coming today.

Namely is being used across the entire organization for PTO management, performance reviews, "shout outs", light organizational development, viewing paystubs and W-2s (we use Namely payroll as well), headcount and salary reporting, the onboarding add-on, benefits portal, and API integrations to internal reporting categorized by billable/non-billable and salaried/nonexempt folks on our teams.
- The onboarding piece is probably the strongest. Our new hires are able to enter their HRIS framework profile data, as well as read and sign electronically for our handbook, COBRA statement, NDA, and security/privacy policies.
- Easy to look at...we've used some products in the past that didn't have a good user experience, which leads to non-usage for my technically proficient team.
- The shout-outs on the main page are great, as folks can clearly see anniversaries and birthdays and comment accordingly.
- The integration from Namely HR to Namely Payroll is lacking. There is no PTO nor salary update feeds between the products.
- The reviews aren't intuitive for usage for peers and managers. It would be easier if there were clear links for these employees to click as opposed to looking for the appropriate screen to provide feedback.
- The API isn't the easiest to use, and there are some components lacking that require development.

- Compared to our last HRIS, Namely gains far more users internally because of the user interface.
- We continue to review external review software that provide micro feedback, employee-generated reviews, and compilation of review data in a readable and presentable format while we use Namely's. Namely's performance review is useful, it just doesn't meet all our needs today.
- The reimbursement portion of Namely's payroll is valuable to us, so we don't have to cut separate expense checks. We pay bi-weekly and the payroll requires about 30 minutes of work every two weeks for our 75 employees to verify PTO and salary updates, as those don't feed from Namely HR. Not bad, but it seems like it should be higher on the priority list of future releases.
- The initial implementation of Namely was really easy, compared to the four other implementations I've been through. The support team was available whenever we needed to ensure accuracy.
Simply put, Namely met the most needs from our list for the right price. The team was great (we miss Regina) during presentation and implementation. TribeHR didn't have the review process according to anniversary dates, which we need. Proliant didn't have the right API availability, Namely has a far better UI than Paychex. Bamboo was the closest, but at the time didn't have all the product integrations we need for our ATS, benefits portal, and internal reporting software.
Yes
It replaced Paychex, which we used for both HRIS and payroll. The user interface is far friendlier with Namely, the reporting is more usable, and while there is room for improvement on intuitive uses of the performance review process, we use it because it is far easier than what we were using.
- Price
- Product Usability
- Positive Sales Experience with the Vendor
The price was less than what we were paying, we received more and better features, and the support during implementation was outstanding.
The best way to discover what your actually company needs are is to use a product. I don't know that we would change anything if we were to go to the market for a new HRIS search.
No
I don't know if it is available, and I certainly don't need it with the support I get from Namely.
Regina Villegas is the reason we have Namely in the first place. She worked night and day to ensure we were the happiest with implementation, and jumped at the chance to meet us when we were in NYC.
