Navisworks, a widely accepted standard in the AEC industry, offers a range of use cases based on user experiences. Users have found Navisworks Manage particularly useful for grouping and creating clash detection against other trades models, allowing them to identify and resolve issues with other trades. Construction teams have utilized Navisworks Freedom to navigate through 3D models and review currently modeled elements. Additionally, operations teams have found value in using Navisworks to design, coordinate, and execute work in the field, minimizing rework.

Navisworks has proven crucial in various departments within organizations. In the building information modeling department, it has been instrumental in coordinating mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and fire trades prior to construction, streamlining the construction schedule and reducing costs from rework. Self-perform concrete departments have relied on Navisworks for planning concrete lift drawings, estimates, and embed layouts, resulting in easier execution and reduced mistakes. Pre-construction activities have also benefited from Navisworks as it helps with service coordination and model verification.

Beyond coordination and clash detection, Navisworks has been used for model visualization, timeline management, and integration of multiple stakeholders into one platform for conflict identification. The software's ability to read various file types and its effectiveness as a collaboration tool have been widely praised by users in the AEC industry. Furthermore, some organizations have even experimented with 4D modeling and logistics planning using Navisworks. Overall, users appreciate Navisworks for its versatility in handling different use cases across design and construction phases.

Convenient Cross-Platform Compatibility: Users have praised Navisworks for its ability to open, view, and navigate through different file types from various modeling programs. This feature has been mentioned by multiple reviewers and is considered a major advantage of the software.

Efficient Clash Detection: Several users have highlighted the usefulness of Navisworks Manage in creating clash reports. This feature not only saves time but also improves accuracy during the coordination process. The ability to identify issues in the model that need attention has been appreciated by a number of reviewers.

Enhanced Visualization and Communication Tools: Reviewers have expressed satisfaction with Navisworks' visualization capabilities, including pulling dimensions and creating viewpoints in the model. These features allow users to create markup drawings and easily share them with team members working on the project. The appearance profiler, sectioning tools, and measuring tools are also highly regarded for aiding in understanding designs and identifying potential clashes within virtual representations of buildings.

Difficulties accessing data: Several users have encountered challenges in consistently accessing data within Navisworks, particularly in models with a large amount of information.

Lack of mobile app: The absence of a mobile app is seen as a drawback by some users, as it makes it inconvenient to access and work with models on the go.

Performance issues with larger files: Some users have experienced lag while navigating larger files and models, which can impact productivity and efficiency.

Users commonly recommend using Navisworks for clash detection and coordination, 3D model visualization, and coordination in BIM implementation. They find Navisworks to be a valuable tool for detecting clashes and coordinating various elements in large-scale BIM projects. The software allows users to identify clashes, view clash viewpoints, and generate reports, helping to ensure clash-free models and streamline the clash resolution process. Navisworks also enables users to review and visualize 3D models effectively, which is highly appreciated by those who need to assess the accuracy and integrity of the models before construction or implementation begins. Additionally, users find that Navisworks offers robust coordination capabilities, including coordinating Revit files, utilizing selection sets and the selection tree functionality. This greatly facilitates collaboration among team members involved in the project.

It's been more than 3 years since I've been using Navisworks for my BIM project coordination. It's really very fast and easy to use. Mainly I'm using this software for clash coordination. It also has options like distance measurements, appearance profile, elements Move, and section views which really helps to review the models. Also, the NWC file extraction and append process is very fast.

As a BIM Engineer, we did the modeling of metro stations, substations. Navisworks helps us to combine all the models i.e architecture, structure, electrical together for collaboration and do thorough clash detection at the early stage of our design so that we can remove the clashes by combining all the models and design a clash-free model.

I have used Navisworks to look at electrical drawings and to further clarify the location of specific lights during a project. Our company is a lighting vendor so I have used Navisworks to communicate with our contractors to clarify where our product is to be placed within the building. I find it incredibly useful especially when there has been confusion in the past about lighting placement and what is required.

Navisworks is being used across the whole organization. It helps our numerous teams for clash detection purposes in BIM services. We can easily navigate through the 3D model and look out for any problem in the building model. Also, we can run clash detection in almost any category of elements and resolve the issues that might affect while actually constructing a building. It has whole lot of options to play with 3D models and finalize a building design and its MEPF services.

Naviswork is usually used throughout all design offices within all departments. It helps engineers bring all Revit models together and figure the LOD and the intensity of clashes at the final stages. It is mainly used to determine the interdepartmental clashes that occur throughout the design stage and aims to mitigate these clashes, it also helps to navigate the compiled Revit models.

We use Navisworks in our VDC department for all visual 3d coordination needs. We also use Navisworks to create supplemental visuals to accompany RFI's and other submissions as needed to support other divisions within the company making their jobs easier. A Visual goes a long way to help explain the issue at hand.

Navisworks is used for MEP/BIM coordination on commercial construction processes. It is used to pull in the different 3D computer-generated models from the design team, consultants, and subcontractors to coordinate the MEP routing through the building. We have been experimenting as a company with some 4D modeling and logistics planning with Navisworks as well.

We use Navisworks in our building information modeling department, largely it is used for coordinating our mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and fire trades prior to the building being built. This allows us to prefabricate a lot of the things we do that otherwise would have to be measured and built after the structure is up. This streamlines our construction schedule and reduces costs from re-work since we have routes figured out prior to install so we don't have to worry about redoing something when things don't fit. It also is used by our self perform concrete department to plan concrete lift drawings, concrete estimates and embed layouts. This has made things significantly easier for our self perform crews and has greatly reduced the amount of mistakes that are made.

We use it for coordination in both design and construction phase. We are using it in our department and manage the coordination process on multiple projects with large project teams. The business case is that it is accepted as standard by the industry so it is easy to get people on board.

For Clash Detection and model visualization, it solves for integrating multiple different stakeholders into one platform where conflicts can be identified. The Virtual Construction Department are heavy users of the software. However, many non-VDC people are using Navis to get a grasp on what a project really looks like.

Arden Building Companies is Design/Build MEP/FP Firm. We use Navisworks to coordinate Designs, communicate with clients and perform Clash Detection for our Construction Projects. We use this software across all four of our companies. There is no better way to explore a building virtually than with Navisworks. It is such a powerful program that reads so many different file types. It is the ultimate collaboration tool in the AEC Industry.

I work for a large mechanical contracting firm and we are awarded lots of extensive jobs that require heavy amounts of coordination. Our primary tool is Revit and we use Navisworks as a viewer for portrayal to the field and owners what the building will look like in future phases. We can easily call out all clashes through detection tests and manage screen captures through the viewpoint functionality which saves the field time and money.

I would recommend this tool for all firms that work in the BIM industry but would like to see Autodesk make some changes to the product. Unlike Revit and AutoCAD, every time Navisworks is updated it seems to remain the same with no improvements.

We use Navisworks Manage in our BIM department at Ludvik Electric. We also use Navisworks Freedom with our construction teams in the company. Navisworks Manage allows us to group all the other trades models and create clash detection against them. It shows us exactly where our issues are and with what other trades. Navisworks Freedom gives the rest of our team the ability to fly through the 3D model and look at everything that has been currently modeled.
