We currently use Citrix ADC primarily as a reverse proxy and a load balancer for our web servers. We also use content switching feature to send web traffic to correct back-end resources. In the future we will be setting up GSLB (Global Server Load Balancing) to better route web traffic between our 2 sites. We also use Citrix Gateway to be a front end for our Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops.
  • Load-balancing is very effective.
  • Makes a great reverse proxy to ensure back-end resources are secured.
  • Very flexible in sense that almost any rule can be configured.
  • Works very well with Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops (XenApp & XenDesktop).
  • The policy engine syntax is a bit complicated to learn.
  • The UI is good but navigation is a bit cumbersome.
  • Configurations are somewhat complex for some features.
If you have Citrix VDI deployment Citrix ADC is a must to be able to login remotely. Citrix Gateway works really well in that sense. It also works great for load-balancing and content switching. Its policy engine allows for almost any configuration and it can deal with any kind of traffic based on these policies and configurations.
  • Provides secure access to back-end resources.
  • Increased performance on web traffic due to load balancing.
Opening a support case with Citrix has always resulted in very attentive and professional service. They are knowledgeable and are able to diagnose and resolve issues rather quickly. This unfortunately is not the same for their "chat support" that they try to get you to use prior to opening a case. I did this once and it took way longer to explain the issue to them which resulted in having to open a support case anyway. From now on I do not bother with chat and open a support case for any issues.

Citrix ADCs are used by our organization as load balanced gateway for application and desktop delivery for both local and global points of presence; the ADCs allow us to ensure a consistent user experience across multiple application and desktop delivery solutions as well as helping increase the security of our WAN edge solutions.
  • Helps protect our Citrix app/desktop delivery solutions via shared code base
  • Helps protect our WAN edge solutions via consistent gateway access to edge solutions via consistent gateways
  • Helps ensure user experience via load balancing
  • WebUI could use some updating and be made more intuitive.
From our experience with Citrix ADC, the product is a well-suited solution for application-level quality of service and quality of user experience, denial of service protection, global server load balancing, and high availability multi-node load balancing solutions, web application firewall. The product can also be utilized for SSL offloading but our organization uses a different solution for that so I can not speak to ADC usability for SSL offloading.
  • Most recognizably, our ROI has been realized from Citrix ADC GSLB and HA features delivering.
Our organization replaced 5 BIG-IP appliances with Citrix ADC, both are comparable products. The largest advantage for our organization switching to Citrix ADC is the shared code base and reduction of the number of vendors in an implemented solution chain from end to end.
Overall, our organization's experience with Citrix support is that support can be hit or miss. Oftentimes it takes multiple attempts and much longer than desirable to obtain a viable solution for issues experienced with their products. It would be great to see Citrix invest time, effort, and almighty dollars into improving their support and bug fix process across the board.

We used to use Citrix in a limited fashion on an ad-hoc basis. Recently we have decided to implement this as a solution for the entire company. I'm sure there are other employees that use this for many more reasons but the primary reason is for secure remote access which simply works.
Having this implemented solves a massive parking issue at my company, with +1500 employees this has become an issue with most people parking at nearby malls which is off-premises, which is never the best idea. Due to a fair program introduced and by using Citrix to remote into our work PCs this has been a definite solution. It also assists those with special needs, or just individuals who are unable to come into the office for a prolonged period of time by allowing them to continue with work as normal.
  • Secure remote access.
  • Relatively speedy connections.
  • Older versions used to be quite laggy but this has really improved to be quite 1 to 1.
  • Remote PC use could be even faster.
  • Unable to receive audio when remoting.
  • Log-in process contains maybe 1 or 2 too many steps.
Citrix from a remote access perspective is well suited for a situation where employees need to access computers while not being physically at the vicinity of employment. There are a number of factors that can prevent someone from not being able to be at work physically and Citrix aims to solve this by enabling a secure SSL 2-step authentication process which connects to a specific PC of one's choice.
I myself am physically disabled and this application alone has enabled me to continue working on days when I'm not feeling well (which is often). It allows me to still be a part of the team without feeling disconnected from everyone.

There's not much to say on the negative side other than working remotely is still not the same as physically being there and interacting with people on a person-to-person level, but for what it does, it's perfectly acceptable.
  • Citrix has solved a massive parking issue by having 100s of people a day remote in to free up parking. This directly saves times which equates to more consistent hours of work being done without obstacles.
  • It's allowed teams to be more flexible with times of work allowing some key members to a particular project the ability to always be available if there is an emergency. There is way less delay in issues being tended to this way which moves tasks along in a project that much faster.
  • Citrix ADC (formerly NetScaler ADC)
I have only used NetScaler in the past which felt like a completely different application to what it is now. There used to be a substantial amount of lag and associated frustration when using it but now as Citrix it is superb, not perfect but for someone who knows what it once was, currently it's a delightful experience.
Citrix has a knowledge center and tools to assist with support queries as well and more importantly, a relatively active community where almost any question can be answered to the best of their collective ability.

The company is using Citrix ADC (Netscaler) to deliver applications from our cloud services throughout the whole organization, which is all over the world. We have appreciated the speed and flexibility in accessing the applications we need, particularly when out of the office. We use our Citrix environment from anywhere because of this awesome technology.
  • Secure connection while using the application
  • Citrix can be accessed from anywhere in the world from any device and any operating system.
  • Sometimes, we face occasional speed issues. No big deal.
  • Configuration is hard to do at the beggining.
The company has been using Citrix ADC (Netscaler) for a few years now. The features are user-friendly, and what I most like is to be able to log on to my work files and apps at home or when I am out of office on business travels. We use Citrix throughout all sites of the company all over the world. Depending on the connection you are logged into the software can be slow. There are also often outages and random logouts.
  • Certainly we had a positive ROI impact while being able to access files when out of office.
  • Hard to configure at the beginning with our network, maybe this cost was not expected.
Using Citrix ADC vs. a VPN can be helpful sometimes, depending on the network you are using. VPN often takes too long to access the files in the network.
Support was really helpful and showed a very good knowledge of the features. At the beginning, we used the support a lot to help us configure the features.
