Before migration, New Relic provides us with deep visibility into our clients' on-premises applications. This level of instrumentation allowed us to identify potential bottlenecks, performance issues, and dependencies, significantly mitigating the risks associated with the migration process. By addressing these issues proactively, we ensured a smoother transition to the cloud.

Because we're only using a few key features from New Relic, I don't think this has really applied to us. I will say that their focus on real-time data monitoring has been more annoying, since we want to store historical data but can't - it automatically archives data more than ~30 days old. We have to manually store that elsewhere.

After identifying the bottleneck while doing performance analysis of our services, we improved the response time of APIs, and were able to provide better SLAs to the partners and better customer experience. Earlier we used to increase number of instances of our services while facing performance issues, now that we have a plan, our overall cost has reduced.

Implementation is very simple and visibility is very high, even in very complicated migrations or architectures. New Relic simplifies everything with little effort.I couldn't do my job without New Relic or I would have a hard time implementing its visibility.

Our devs were used to the old school methods of SSHing into a server and looking at log files, or using shell programs to monitor performance and troubleshoot issues. The abstraction of serverless solutions makes this difficult, and New Relic was able to provide a much better replacement for these practices that translated seamlessly to cloud serverless architecture.

Actually, in a wider growing cloudscape these days, a monitoring tool is as good as its integration capabilities. Some of these New Relic does well, some are more of a challenge. Browser synthetics are as good as the browser version it uses, and New Relic isn't always up to speed with the current browser versions used on client computers of frameworks. It's very strong in the back-end, but complex website front-ends can make zooming in to some specific parts of a site a challenge while not losing sight on the whole. That said, this being a cloud solution absolutely helps availability, even outside working hours.

New Relic's way of keeping an eye on things has made a recent app move to the cloud smoother. We used it before, during, and after – covering all bases. It helped us spot issues early on, which was a relief. Plus, once we were in the cloud, it showed us what's what, so we adjusted things quicker. Its also useful to kept tabs on our spending, so we can cut some costs. It's another helpful tool which we used through the move and helped us avoid the usual fuss. NR helped to make the cloud shift a little less of a hassle.

New Relic helps us to enable a continuous monitoring process during the time to cloud migration then helps us in keeping track of any issues and make sure that the migration process does not affect the end-user with a bad experience. It helps in reducing the migration risk and accelerating cloud adoption. With the help of usage metrics, it helps us in understanding the requirements and thus also affects the cost.

New Relic has helped reduce risk during migration of apps from on-prem to the cloud by providing excellent before and after performance monitoring data. That has allowed us to rapidly deploy updates to correct any issues caused by the migration.

Our development was in the cloud and we used New Relic from the inception stages. Because it is tightly integrated into the Acquia Drupal platform, we were able to carry our monitoring account and key from Dev through Test to Live. We like the ability to monitor and retain the logs for up to 90 days on the Pro subscription.

Monitoring with APM helped us to determine that cloud infrastructure was the future of our business operations. We started migrating our client sites in batches to cloud. At the beginning, and in order to start with a multi-tenant infrastructure, we over-provisioned our cloud resources to support the initial load, but as we monitored the sites performance and as we migrated more batches, we took decisions and adjusting the capacity (having the benefits of the cloud like flexible, elastic and scalable), to reach the desired breakeven. So, we can say NewRelic helped us a lot to make the transition from on-premise to cloud, to reduce the migration risk, and at the same time to reduce costs.

Our use-cases are primarily cloud based. However, we rely on them heavily during migration to and from regions, and across the cloud providers. Their tool is cloud agnostic, and allows us to track the health and the performance of our applications in a predictable manner. The costs are controlled as all the performance bottlenecks can be tracked and fixed at the source instead of adding more infrastructure.

With devices being monitored under New Relic, we have the ability to monitor all aspects which are needed to make sure a workflow functions without any problem. With the ability of new Relic to store and compare the historic data, it helped in making sure that the devices which were over-provisioned, can be lowered in terms of space, memory, network ports, etc, which eventually made the devices to be optimal and sufficient to be able to support a workflow without any hiccups.

New Relic provides finer metrics of usage of Infrastructure and applications. It has integration with most AWS services as well. Given these, it assists in right-size the Infrastructure and applications and thereby avoiding the risk of downtime/outages and also reducing cost in case of over-provisioned or underutilized infrastructure.
