A service mesh helps protect more sensitive services by allowing the user to set up a zero trust environment via access control with end-to-end encryption. In this demo, NGINX engineer Aidan Carson uses NGINX Service Mesh to define a traffic access policy for a particular component of an app, effectively protecting it from any bad actors with fine-grained network and app-level controls over how and where services exchange data.

NGINX Service Mesh (NSM) is a lightweight service mesh built from the ground up with NGINX technology. Using NGINX Plus as the sidecar (data plane) component, NSM is the first service mesh to make traffic management a priority. NSM takes advantage of all of the NGINX Plus advanced features focused on a highly scalable and dynamic load balancing environment for containers.
