NVIDIA Mellanox Spectrum switches acting as Top of Rack (TOR) switches in the data center.
  • Supports Cumulus Linux as well as SONic
  • Wide variety of modern network operating system choices

Works well if you use core networking functionality

Does not work well in a multi-vendor setup.
  • Open Ethernet based protocols and platform
  • Support Cumulus Operating System
  • Lower cost than Cisco or Juniper switches
  • Overall seamless integration into the datacenter
  • Better cost per port so higher ROI
Broadcom is quicker is rolling out newer chipset and hardware. But NVIDIA Mellanox has better system integration due to its purchase of Cumulus OS.
