What is Octoparse?

Octoparse is a free web scraping software that turns unstructured or semi-structured data from any website into structured datasets, no coding needed. Extracted data can be exported as API, CSV, Excel, HTML, TXT, or into a database. It’s a free tool for data analysis and mining.

Scraping the web on a large scale simultaneously, based on distributed computing, is the most powerful feature of Octoparse. After you upload your configuration project to the cloud, you can choose to perform the extraction concurrently by using many cloud servers. If you need to scrape 10,000 web pages within a short time, then Octoparse cloud service fits best.

Crawlers run in Octoparse are determined by the extraction rules configured. The extraction rule would tell Octoparse: which website is to be open; where is the data you plan to crawl, etc. provides high speed data collection, performing up to 10 concurrent threads. Being a Windows application, Octoparse works well for static and dynamic websites, including those whose web pages are using Ajax. There are various export formats of your choice like CSV, EXCEL, HTML, TXT, and databases (MySQL, SQL Server, and Oracle).

Octoparse is a easy to use software for web-scrapping use cases. Application specific it is a very useful for large chunks of unorganised data of all kinds. Its a cloud-based web information extraction solution that assists clients with extricating pertinent data from different sorts of sites. It empowers clients from various enterprises to scratch unstructured information and save it in various configurations including Excel, plain text and HTML.
  • Web-scrapping
  • Importing the scrapped data in user-defined chunks
  • Extraction and organising of compliicated scrapped data
  • Different modes of extraction
  • Extraction of total crawling of data all-together aat once
  • Make it suitable for all environments use case as in MacOs, Linux versions , etc
  • The free version is restricted to low number of crawlers and simultaneous runs as well as 10.000 records in a single export.
Octoparse is utilized to scratch item information from sites and programming projects that don't give XML or API and import them in web based businessAdditionally, it has solid capabilities to extract data from various types of sites, which is truly splendid.
However it is not suitable to be used only in the free version as the features and usecases are limited. The user woould not face issues in implementation in the premium version.
Implemetion specificallly in web-crawling does not require octoparse completely, but scrapping data, yes.
  • Web-crawliing
  • Data-scrapping
  • Exporting of data
  • Thoroughly slithering every single part of the information was difficult to implement.
  • Sometimes, the framework crashes before completion of the entire crawling.
  • The scrapping was effective and effiecient enough on large chunks of organized data. It takes quite a time to complete the objective but is surely worth it.
Other similar products like webautomation.io and webscarpper.io were tried and implemented along with Octoparse. Thier trial versions have much more limited features. The complexity while using Octoparse is relatively low and much more effecient and powerful to implement as compared to other softwares. Also usecases are quick to learn and implement.

The pandemic has made the exhibition business difficult to run and we are exploring new businesses in international warehousing. This is a good tool to collect data for business research. I collected data like inventory, sales of online stores. It is mostly used by myself. In fact, we don't have a development team so I learned by following the guides and asking the support.
  • user design is easy to understand compared to other automation tools
  • the support team is helpful, they really answer
  • the software can get data into spreadsheets, and in a large number
  • there is a free plan to start
  • there is more about practical use: sometimes you need to wait for the data to show in the preview section
  • there can be more tutorials for scraping popular websites like shoppee, wayfair etc.
I used Octoparse to get mostly ecommerce data and it is working well. I think it can get data from most web pages as long as you can see it on the pages. Because it is scraping the data by getting into the source code of the page or something. And it is good for people who do research: the software can organize and clean the data, so you are able to export structured data into Excel or CSV. This is convenient for further analysis.
  • it gives profound database for my research and make the whole process a lot more easier. the power of automation!
I saw UiPath when I was seeking a data scraping tool. I don't quite understand how it works. It seems more complicated and is less understandable for people who do not code.

Octoparse. Now this is an interesting company. I was recently promoted to Director of Sales and I knew that in order to get leads, I'd have to be able to scrape the web at my discretion and look for the data that I wanted. That being said I have 0 prior experience with this process before now. And make no mistake, it's technical. With all that in mind, I have only ever had to reach out to their customer service once for help. They responded the same day and I was off and running. Octoparse also has some YouTube videos that have proven helpful. Once I become more proficient with the program we're going to buy more licenses so I can teach more people in my company to use it for other projects.
  • Web Scraping.
  • Crawling.
  • Data Export.
  • Market Comparison Analysis.
  • Haven't had any issues with the program or company. But there's certainly a learning curve. More tutorial videos wouldn't hurt.
Octoparse is good for web scraping and crawling. It has done everything I've ever asked it to with very few exceptions. With that in mind, I would think that if it wasn't able to preform a task, it's probably user error. I'm hesitant to reach out to their customer service team, as with the free plan you get what they call "community, lazy support" which makes it seem like they'll get to you when they feel like it. Not really complaining though, since I'm not paying for anything, so what can you expect? At any rate, I'd highly recommend them.
  • I have the free plan. Every time I land a cold lead generated through scraping it's 100% profit.
I have absolutely no experience with any other web scraping tools. That being said, Octoparse is so good, I've never needed to go find another one to try out. Is it the best thing out there? I have no idea, nor would I be qualified to make that statement. But I can say for someone with little to no background, it's very easy to pick up and start using.
