It is being used within the organization by different user groups and students. I am also one of the active users using it. It is one of the secure OS and new technology that has been introduced to the new students which address the current security issues. Earlier on open source, OS was used but due to the security issues, we had to switch to Oracle Linux.
  • Support cost.
  • Runs well on Oracle Database.
  • Kernel Security.
  • It only works with Oracle Products.
  • Documentation
  • Less community
Works well with oracle product and have minimum user documentation. Feels like just the copy of RHEl. But it works perfectly with the Oracle database and KSplice feature. It also offers a better price as compared to other Linux platforms having a great support offer of 24/7. Only thing is that it runs perfectly on Oracle hardware.
  • Oracle hardware cost.
  • Support cost.
  • Use of OVM.
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
To run the Oracle database server smoothly and to get better support from the community. The OS comes with an already pre-configured database system which is easier and more efficient for the user and IT members who are familiar with the Oracle Products. Support cost is much cheaper than the other product.
Customer support is great and available 24/7 where they address all the issues and help with all the troubleshooting steps. Likewise the user documentation and guides and well defined and easy to understand. That is the reason why I gave this score. However, the community could be improved.
Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), AWS Cloud9, Microsoft Azure
Our organization needs 24/7 support for staff and students which requires a highly available system for the offered services. Oracle Linux does the best in regards to the support and to have great troubleshooting guides and access and support in case of any issues to the OS and the services.
No
It was at the time during the installation which I could not co-figure and got different errors, then I contacted the support team to fix the issue. It was immediate access to the support portal and they resolved my issue during the same time in 30 minutes. Thank you for that.

The price and the customer support were important having the pre-build in features that made us the IT staff not go through all the preliminary steps to configure without any hassle. Having 24/7 hr support team in place to have highly available services leads towards the decision.
In that case, I will evaluate all the product features and services including the community support groups. Based on the services used in my organization includes web services databases. File servers etc. That will allow me to decide on the selection process in an easier way based on the evaluation mentioned above.
