PeopleSoft allows organizations to build complex process in HRMS system through customizations. Cloud products like Workday or Fusion HCM are behind PeopleSoft on their customization capability. Nowadays, the organization is continuously improving their processes to automate the work as much as possible, so product should be capable of considering continuous customization.

Oracle PeopleSoft HCM is a well known product, with a history of being a successful tool for large organizations. It has a wide variety of features and tools available to assist human resources needs. As mentioned before though, for smaller organizations, it probably offers much more than is necessary compared to something like BambooHR or WebHR which offer most features one would want without the need to integrate with other softwares.

While I was not responsible for selecting Oracle PeopleSoft HCM, I have found its user interface to be more intuitive, workflow is easier to follow and page performance is fast. For my organization, Oracle PeopleSoft HCM would have made more sense since they use other Oracle products so integration with them would be more seamless.

Workday is a good system as well, but where Oracle PeopleSoft HMC out did it for us is that we have used their payroll services and felt that because of that, integrating this new system would be easier, and it was, and it made things much easier for us. It saved us time, which for our organization is gold.

PeopleSoft HCM had more integration with a wider variety of functionality that we wanted to use to support our business processes. The ability to add 'custom' processes or 'bolt-on' applications was a big plus for PeopleSoft HCM. Other products had the UI appeal during an initial evaluation but since the introduction of fluid pages in PeopleSoft HCM the UI aspect is no longer a disadvantage.

We're beginning to look at SaaS offerings that will eventually replace PS HCM. Oracle's Cloud and WorkDay are the products we're most likely to consider, though others may join the market by the time we start in-depth research. When we selected the PS HCM product in 1999, the primary competition was Banner HR.

I’ve used similar products such as Lawson HCM, Dayforce HCM, and Kronos Workforce Management. All products function similarly, but I have not utilized nearly as many out of the box services they offer as I have with PeopleSoft. Lawson and Dayforce have proven to be much more mobile compatible and have a “newer” user interface that feels like you’re in the 21st century – as opposed to PeopleSoft. I would argue that both Dayforce and Kronos are better off as ready to use, out of the box, systems. However, this will prevent the means to customize and upgrade to fit business needs as PeopleSoft does living under Oracle.

The other systems seem more user friendly and engaging- they look fresh and not boring. They seem to have better mobile capabilities and ability to have better reporting. We selected Peoplesoft because we have had it a long time, but we definitely want to get to the cloud

I have only encountered the old Oracle HCM and a Financials systems that added on HCM functionality as an after-thought. PeopleSoft HCM is NOT an after-thought. It is designed well and has very deep and powerful functionality across the HR modules.

They are different applications as the FSCM application is for the Finance side of things. I haven't reviewed FSCM but it is a great application and interfaces with PeopleSoft FSCM. Journal lines are generated in HCM to go into the general ledger in FSCM and this interface works beautifully. I fully recommend both applications.

We reviewed a number of comparable software solutions and ended up choosing Peoplesoft HCM due to its features, solid platform, and the backing of Oracle. The product outshined others with its integrated portal, flexibility with user group access, and the ability to use the product for different purposes. The product also offered better scalability to meet the increased demands of large employee pools down the road.

For organizations that are mostly based out of EMEA, SAP SuccessFactors is better at covering all the details about labor laws and employment management. But for organizations - mid to large - that span both NA and EMEA, Oracle PeopleSoft HCM is much better both in support provided post purchase and overall functionality. Workday Human Capital Management has better UI and feels more modern compared to Oracle HCM but it lacks some of the functionality that is needed for large enterprises.

Oracle PeopleSoft HCM is very user-friendly and one thing we like about PeopleSoft is that we have the flexibility to customize. Also, the overall support and engagement from Oracle was very good during the evaluation.

PeopleSoft customization has created an issue for customers to move to cloud while trying to keep the functions Oracle HCM cloud might be lacking. However, due to Oracle sunsetting the Taleo performance, we have started the cloud journey with the Oracle Talent Management cloud after comparing different cloud providers such as Workday.

Oracle PeopleSoft HCM does have a lot of configuration options and works really well with complex organizations. Compared to Workday, PeopleSoft does have challenges with maintaining servers, patch updates, scalability, software support, and maintenance.
