Who Buys & Uses Paylocity

Pros

  • Efficient and accurate payroll processing, including automated tax filing
  • Streamlined and paperless new hire onboarding
  • Intuitive user interface and mobile accessibility for employees

Cons

  • Complex and difficult-to-customize reporting functionality
  • Inconsistent customer service responsiveness and problem resolution
  • Navigation challenges and non-intuitive user interface for some tasks

Love the product so much I convinced my new company to make the leap after leaving a company that used Paylocity.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We utilize Paylocity to meet all of our payroll, HR, onboarding and recruiting needs. We do not have a dedicated HR person, so Paylocity is filling that gap for us. Additionally, it helps me obtain critical information needed for meeting data requirements related to Joint Commission, State Licensing, and credentialing. All of the information I need is always a click away and fully customizable.

Pros

  • Customer service is absolutely top notch - there is always someone available, any day of the week and any time to help if I have any question.
  • It makes employee deductions and taxes so simple that really anyone can do it.
  • Has helped save time in regard to recruiting as I am able to control everything from one hub within the Paylocity platform.
  • It has made our onboarding seamless, with everything from I9's with eVerify to company specific paperwork that needs to be completed and provided prior to an employee starting.
  • Employees no longer have to go through me to make changes to their personal information, 401K, tax information, etc., because they can go directly through their Paylocity dashboard for all of it.

Cons

  • I still have a really hard time understanding what I am supposed to do when it comes to adding new state tax codes.
  • The time sheet is still different for everyone, and I can't figure out why - some employees aren't able to use it at all despite all of the settings appearing to be the same.
  • Sometimes there are too many places to look for information needed or settings that need to be changed - it would be helpful if similar topics were all in one place instead of my having to click through the different sections to find them.

Return on Investment

  • The time savings alone is worth the cost. I went from having to spend 3 - 4 full business days on payroll to about 1.
  • Being able to look all employee data up in one place is a lifesaver and time saver - even outside of the office if I need to access information quickly it is all just a sign in away.
  • It has saved significant time and reduced confusion related to onboarding. Everyone is able to see what stage an employee is at, I do not need to worry about employees potentially working for us illegally thanks to eVerify, and I am always assured that all required documentation for regulatory purposes has been obtained prior to employment beginning.

Great Implementation.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We just started using Paylocity for our new HRIS system company-wide. We currently use Paylocity for payroll, company documents, employee recognition, and employee communication, and we will soon be using the recruiting and scheduling portion. The main reason we left our previous provider was payment services issues. So far, payroll is a smooth and easy process. It's actually a lot easier because we were able to integrate our POS system with Paylocity.

Pros

  • Communication.
  • Ease of Use.
  • Integrations

Cons

  • Garnishment Services.

Return on Investment

  • Payroll Processing is much faster now that we've integrated with Toast.
  • Garnishments haven't been great so far, but working those out.
  • Integration makes it easier and more organized for our managers, saving time by eliminating the need to run multiple reports across multiple platforms to track down documents.

Paylocity can save you time and money.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Paylocity for our payroll, HR management, and benefits administration. Paylocity is helpful in keeping everything in one place so you do not have to use multiple platforms. A few of the features we appreciate are being able to build custom reports for tracking and having a specific calendar for when employees request and take time off. The community tab in Paylocity really helps with team bonding and office morale. The onboarding for employees is very straightforward and easy to use. The payroll process is quick once you learn each step. A minor setback for Paylocity would be getting an answer to a question in a timely manner from customer service and speaking with someone who knows how to help you the first time. Generally, we use the Help Knowledge Base and Walkthrough Guides first, which can be very helpful before calling or emailing our questions. Overall, Paylocity is very user-friendly and has great amenities.

Pros

  • The community tab in Paylocity helps to create team bonding and office morale.
  • The onboarding process for employees is simple and has a good ease of use.
  • Simplified layout that is easy to follow and read.

Cons

  • Customer service could use some work. It can be difficult to get a hold of customer service and get an answer in a timely manner.
  • Being able to build custom reports in Paylocity is a helpful feature, but making it a little more user-friendly would be great.
  • It would be helpful to see on the employee time card how many hours the employee worked per day.

Return on Investment

  • The payroll process is very smooth making it a very time efficient task.

Usability

Paylocity for the Win

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

My first time using Paylocity was at an organization that was using it to process payroll and nothing else. I implemented several HRIS modules, which greatly improved efficiency and compliance. For example, by implementing the Onboarding function, we significantly reduced the time spent emailing new hires and marking checklists to ensure they had properly completed and submitted all of the necessary forms.

Pros

  • e-Verify
  • OSHA
  • ACA
  • payroll

Cons

  • recruiting
  • forms
  • customer service

Return on Investment

  • e-Verify compliance became 100%, which saved countless hours and headache when my org was audited

Paylocity for the win

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We have 3 entities in our company and Paylocity has made our payroll process seamless. I dont have half the issues I did whenever we were using another third party company for payroll processing. I feel like half of the load is taken off and makes us focus on more HR related items now that we dont have to spend 2-3 days on payroll. Now it only takes a day. The service team is awesome and I like that you can speak to local people. I also love the reporting. At first it was a little overwhelming with the amount of reports there are but after having my own favorite reports its much easier to pull reports. I highly recommend Paylocity.

Pros

  • They pay and file all of your payroll taxes
  • Payroll processing is easy and user friendly
  • Implementation team and the whole process is above and beyond what i expected

Cons

  • Time and Labor - The ability to add per diem and any other payroll related miscellaneous additions to payroll
  • Time and Labor - letting us have the capability to change the Payroll Policies

Return on Investment

  • Paylocity has saved us time by making payroll and HR easier to manage. We spend less time entering information by hand, which helps prevent mistakes. Employees can get their pay stubs, tax forms, and PTO information on their own, so they don't have to ask HR as often. The reports also help us see labor costs and employee information more easily. It took some time to set everything up, but overall it has made our work faster, more organized, and more accurate.
