We use Paylocity for the total HR experience - talent acquisition, onboarding, payroll, benefits enrollment, COBRA administration, FSA administration, and HCM
  • processes payroll easily and accurately
  • accurate data maintenance
  • outstanding customer service
  • state tax registration
  • It is difficult to customize reports
  • time & labor balances require manual intervention
Paylocity is very user-friendly on both the administrative and employee side. Payroll batches are easy to edit, if necessary. The customer service is outstanding; there is always someone knowledgeable available to assist - immediately. (unlike ADP where you could be on hold for hours.) I am happy to hear that as our organization grows, Paylocity can service more than 1,000 employees. As I mentioned previously, the cumbersome tasks are the ability to create custom reports with the data and in the format needed and the accuracy of time off balances.

  • More consistent processes
  • Less time spent on payroll due to ease of function
  • Less time spent when questions arise due to readily available customer service
ConnectOne Bank separated HR functions from Benefits and Payroll. HR utilizes talent acquisition and onboarding which has streamlined the new hire process from background checks and offer letters to the data entry process. On the benefits and payroll side, automation has streamlined new hire benefit enrollments and the entire open enrollment process.
ConnectOne Bank utilizes an outside vendor for these tasks. They were in place prior to Paylocity. Sorry.
Those are the companies I've used in the past. I wasn't working at CNOB when Paylocity was chosen. But Paylocity is 1000 times superior to the two programs I used in the past! There are no secret codes for deductions or earnings; payroll registers are easy to read, and it's very, very user-friendly. And again, when you're stuck, customer service is always available right away with the solution.

the training material was easy to follow. The screenshots matched the actual portal. You could proceed at your own pace and go back if needed, or advance if you were already familiar with the process.
We required a number of custom calculations and custom fields. Paylcocity is able to accommodate these requests easily and in a short amount of time.

Some - we have done small customizations to the interface
We have customized some of the EDI file feeds required for our benefit vendors. Again, this was done easily and quickly.
Yes - we have added extensive custom code
Very easy
Customizing reports is available, but sometimes we need assistance setting them up. But Paylocity customizes reports a lot faster that I can.
Paylocity's customer service is outstanding. They are all knowledgeable, always available, and you are never put on hold.
I wasn't aware this is available, so I don't know.

Yes, but I don't use it
We started with approximately 100 employees and have grown to over 500. Paylocity is able to handle an organization's growth in terms of headcount as well as level of benefits offered.
Paylocity support is always available and I never have to wait endlessly on hold. If our dedicated account manage is not available, there is an entire team assigned to our account. Every one of them is knowledgeable about our organization and Paylocity's process.
Reports are available instantly. Some updates do take overnight to complete but otherwise the benefit integration is also done quickly.

We use Paylocity's suite of features including time & labor, payroll, performance, surveys, expenses, and more. This allows us to work more efficiently by providing us an all-in-one HRIS.
  • Improves efficiencies
  • User-friendly interface
  • Helps us remain compliant
  • More information on how system updates change things
  • Improve the performance feature - make it easier to set up
  • Ability to schedule a start and end date for job postings
Works wonderfully for time & labor and payroll processing. There is room to improve the intuitiveness of the system and to make some things easier to do than they are currently, or at least more customizable. For instance, we do not provide our managers with a department budget for employee wages. Currently, the compensation system does not provide an option to bypass managers setting the wages for their staff.

  • Reduced costs
  • Improved time management
  • Reduced paper waste
We have improved many efficiencies in various areas. Not only have we saved time - which means we saved money - but we also have reduced our dependency on paper. We have been able to streamline multiple processes and have converted numerous things we did previously with paper to electronic format.
We love the survey feature! We use this for so many things - including schedule requests, quarterly NPS scoring, annual engagement surveys, and much more. We also loved this feature during the start of covid as it allowed us to electronically remain in compliance in our region. Currently, we are not using the community feature, but that is only because we have an intranet that we utilize for many of the same functions.
We had Paychex for many years. While we weren't completely unhappy with them, we made the switch to Paylocity for many reasons. Paylocity was able to offer us one platform for time & labor and payroll. In addition, we saved over $10k per year after making the switch. With Paychex, we had experienced a lack in quality of customer service and response times. Paylocity was wonderful in this area initially, but we have noticed some decline recently.
41
All of our employees use Paylocity, just in varying ways. Everyone uses it for time off requests, most use time & labor and performance reviews, and everyone completes surveys. We try to keep everything in one system as much as we can.
2
HR staff use the system daily.
  • Time and labor
  • Payroll
  • Performance Reviews
  • Policy signoff/acknowledgement
  • Surveys for a variety of topics
  • New features like employee voice
We will absolutely continue to renew year after year. The only thing that would change our minds would be a drastic prices increase.
Yes
We had payroll, 401k, and FSA with Paychex and time & labor with Cincinnati Time Systems. Moved all of them to Paylocity.
  • Integration with Other Systems

I wouldn't change a thing.
  • Implemented in-house
Yes
This was 5 years ago so I don't recall much. We were given an overview with a timeline and then scheduled things out from there. Our two main uses of the system were setup first though - payroll & time and labor.
  • Don't recall
The implementation staff were fantastic and super easy to work with!
  • Online Training
Easy to follow but sometimes goes too quickly
I think there is a lot of configurability, but there are some areas that have too much while others don't have enough.
Wish performance reviews and compensation had a bit more configurability. Also wish FSA was fully integrated instead of using a separate login and website for reporting and enrollment.
Some - we have done small customizations to the interface
We have customized things from a branding perspective.
No - we have not done any custom code
Not at this time
We switched to Paylocity in part because of the poor support on our old system. During implementation, Paylocity support was phenomenal and the first couple of year, so was service support. That has declined in the last year or two as it seems more of a team approach to addressing issues rather than a dedicated account rep. FSA support has always been bad for us though. We've tried to get other people involved in hopes of fixing the problem, but still have run into issues each year that it comes time for open enrollment. The FSA program other than that is fantastic!
No - not sure what that even is?
During implementation. The support team was very thorough, easy to talk to and understand and was super responsive when we had questions.
Most everything is super easy to use and understand. I love that products & features are constantly being updated or improved.

Paylocity Review

I use Paylocity for onboarding and to process payroll. Paylocity has replaced our onboarding paperwork making our onboarding so much easier. Paylocity has also replaced our PTO form and has made requesting time off an easy process for all the employees. I have been told by the employees that they like punching in and out through Paylocity instead of doing manual timecards.
  • Keeping track of PTO
  • Provides learning through the app or on the website
  • Helps keep employees informed on the Community page
  • Easy clock in and clock out
  • provide a manual to help with learning the software
  • Have the app and the website link when using one or the other
  • Explain when employees select paperless that they will not receive a W2 through the mail
Paylocity has made everything so much easier and quicker from onboarding to payroll. It has helped us eliminate the paperwork involved with the onboarding process. My account manager and customer service have been very helpful when I needed assistance. I do wish they had a manual to refer to instead of having to email, call or chat all the time while still trying to learn the system.

With using Paylocity for time tracking, PTO, payroll and onboarding, I am able to focus on my other job responsibilities and have less paperwork to deal with. Any one of these tasks could've taken half a days work to complete but now I can complete with in 20 minutes or less.
Our employees enjoy using the Community page for birthdays and anniversaries well wishes. Plus management can keep all employees informed of new policies, calendar changes, or weather related events through the community page. I haven't heard from the employees regarding the surveys or premium videos so I can't really comment on those.
There really is no comparison. QuickBooks was used for payroll processing only. Paylocity has replaced QuickBooks and more. I prefer Paylocity and very happy that the decision was made to switch.
28
All employees use Paylocity to submit PTO time. Hourly employees use it for clocking in and out. Supervisors used it to approve timecards and post announcements on the Community tab. HR adds the new hires and does the onboarding through Paylocity while the payroll department uses it to submit payroll.
We don't have a specific person in-house. There are a few of use that help each other or reach out to customer support when we are working in Paylocity and hit a wall. HR mainly using the system but all the supervisors along with management work within the Paylocity for different reasons.
  • Timekeeping
  • Payroll
  • Community Announcements
  • Tracking PTO
  • Onboarding
  • Safety Training
  • online safety training
  • Having the Community replace memos
  • replaced paper timecards
  • Add certification to employees profile
  • Use it for annual trainings
  • Use workflow to assign employees tasks
Paylocity has been everything we've wanted in more. We are very pleased with the system and customer support we receive when we run into a snag. The price we pay for Paylocity is more in our price range than other software. We like that we can integrate with our other systems too.
Yes
Paylocity replaced QuickBooks. We used QuickBooks for payroll and PTO but needed a product that offered timekeeping so we decided to upgraded to Paylocity. Paylocity's payroll feature is so much nicer and easier to use than QuickBooks. Plus keeping track of PTO time in Paylocity is a breeze compared to QuickBooks.
  • Integration with Other Systems
  • Ease of Use
I wouldn't say there is a single most important factor in our decision but one of the most important factor was the timekeeping. We had employees keep track of their time by writing it on timecards. It was nice to have them clock in and out through an app or by computer. Another factor that was important is the onboarding. We were able to do away with a lot of paper copies and have new hire do the onboarding through Paylocity.
Not sure I would change anything. Paylocity seems to be everything we were looking for and more. The only thing I wish Paylocity would offer is a user guide. The help button does offer suggestions and solutions but a user guide would be nice. Overall, Paylocity has saved us time with the features it offers and that's what we were looking for.
  • Implemented in-house
Change management was a big part of the implementation and was well-handled
That we needed this change. Employees were a little hesitant at first but once they were trained on the changes we were able to win their support.
  • Payroll
  • PTO time
  • hours worked for hourly employees
The individual who worked with us made sure the implementation went smoothly. I thought she did an excellent job walking us through what needed to be done.
  • No Training
The in-person training I got was via phone call. I took notes and had to refer back to them for a while. I would also call customer support for help until I got comfortable enough to search through help.
I would search help or use the learning link to learn more about Paylocity.
No, I would not recommend learning the product without training.
Paylocity's configurability is just right for the product.
Reach out to customer support when you need to configure Paylocity.
Some - we have done small customizations to the interface
I explained how we needed to set up PTO time. Paylocity was able to customizations 3 different PTO categories that work perfectly.
Some - we have added small pieces of custom code
Wasn't hard at all. Customer support helped me every step of the way on customizing codes in Paylocity.
I have nothing further to add.
The support team is very knowledgeable and helpful every time I contact them. They either fix the problem or make sure I understand how to fix it for next time. I have had no problems with the support team and I contact them by phone and/or through email when needed.
I do not know if we purchased premium support. All I know is when I call or email someone on the customer support team responds to whatever situation or problem I'm having at that time.
No
I get exceptional support all the time but the one thing I can think of is customer support providing 3 different PTO accrual categories that we use for the employees. There was a lot of going back and forth but they were patience and completed them all correctly.
Paylocity is very easy to use. I was able to learn Paylocity a lot quicker than QuickBooks. Webinars and the learning videos are helpful too but if you like to speak to a human customer support is the best route to go.

The mobile interface works fine for clocking in and out but I mostly prefer to logging into the website.
Multiple departments are using Paylocity and so far there hasn't been any complaints. The software helps each departments get what needs to be done.
We have had no problems with availability issues. I haven't heard any complaints that a department was not able to use Paylocity when they needed to.
Paylocity's performance has been fine so far. We've integrated it with other software systems and it doesn't slow down. Everything seems to function in a reasonable time frame.
  • Employee Navigator
Paylocity and Employee Navigator did the integration for us and it wasn't difficult to achieve.
  • No at this time
We don't plan to integrate another system.
  • File import/export
The integration with Employee Navigator seems to go well with no problems.
If the system you want to integrate can do it for you, let them handle the integration.
I wasn't involved during the sales process but I believe it well very well.
Paylocity made sure we provided them with everything need to move forward the the implementation.
I don't believe we negotiated any principle terms.
I did not help purchase this product.
Paylocity was easy to work with through implementation.

Since we transitioned to Paylocity starting January 1st, 2023, our HR Department can act smoothly. We have everything in one place, and we can even save money on Recruiting.

The only situation that we would love to improve from them is the Customer Service experience through email, or in general, they take a little longer to help you with your matter. It would be perfect if they implement a system where we can open a ticket and get a response immediately without calling them.

The recruiting, onboarding, and hiring process is incredible, you can play with the system around to move your candidates from status, or from Recruiting to Onboarding if you extend a job offer. This makes you save time and money since your new hire will be able to fill out all the information electronically, and that account will be created for them during the onboarding process. Once they start, they will be in your system.
  • Recruiting, the connection we have between Indeed, and ZipRecruiter with extra charges.
  • Payroll processing is easy and reliable.
  • Employee administration is easy to use as well, as organized.
  • Customer Service - Create an option to submit tickets for help.
  • Reporting, it would be better with a better reporting system.
  • Chat under community will be helpful for employee communication.
Easy to use
You can educate yourself or even your employees with the training/library/learning system they have integrated

Just during customer service responses is when Paylocity affects our business. They take a lot of time to response, and we need to wait until they get resolved an issue.
A lot of engagement. We can inform our employees by posting some announcements, and they can post their comments.

We use Paylocity to track employees time, process payroll, assist in recruiting and onboarding and are in process to roll out new functionalities with open enrollment and benefits coordination.
  • Ease of use
  • Availability of reports
  • Good customer service and support
  • Does not interface with our 403 (b) provider, an API would be useful
  • Does not interface with our current Financial software, again an API would be useful
We have given out a bonus to employees for the last 3 years; this year I used Paylocity's net to gross feature to calculate the amounts and used the firm to print the employee checks. Something that used to take half a day was completed in about an hour.

  • Reduced overall time to process and monitor payroll
  • Eliminated manual steps in the payroll and HR processes
  • Improved management visibility into metrics related to staffing and retention
Tracking of open jobs, including candidates, has improved. The real time org chart preparation is very helpful. Being about to house related documents in the employee's profile is also very helpful.
We are able to broadcast policy updates and changes to employees in real time, requesting that they review and sign off. This used to be done manually through email and pen and paper, so this change has been very helpful!
Paylocity's responsiveness and ease of use far outpaces both other solutions!

  • Ease of Use
Ease of use for admins AND employees was the biggest key for us.
Likely would not have changed the process - it yielded good results!
  • Implemented in-house
No
Change management was minimal
It's best to have policies and procedures well documented before implementing; that way you only need to adjust your documentation to what the system can or can't do. It's also key to be flexible and try to use the system as it's designed for as much as possible.
  • Some of our time off policies were not native to Paylocity but were able to be navigated pretty simply
The scripted process was executed very well by the staff members and made adoption very easily.
  • Online Training
The rigor of the process and the multiple touch points made adoption very easy to adopt and use. We had good trainers who had knowledge within their scope as well as "upstream" and "downstream".
It seems to be just about right, the challenge is making sure that you're maximizing what you can do with configuration versus out of the box functionalities.
Nothing specific, however touch points with an account manager to discuss what's been working/not working with the system 3-6 months after implementation would be helpful. The AM is available on call, but having that set up, similar to implementation, would be helpful.
No - we have not done any customization to the interface
Some - we have added small pieces of custom code
We had to add codes for unique PTO policies that we have; configuration was relatively easy, but it led to manual steps on the back end of the process.
None currently
I like that I don't have to get "my" account manager to get solid information in a timely fashion. It definitely makes a difference!
No, I don't believe that we did. We wanted to see how the basic function / set up would work with the option to add the premium support later if necessary.
No
Needed to run a bonus payroll at year end with employees expected to receive a flat amount ($100, $500, $1,000). Paylocity's net to gross spreadsheet made this EXTREMELY easy. Something that previously took hours was done in minutes. And this was all discovered by a support call to Paylocity!
Logical set up, simple menus and a good rollout training made the difference.

Yes
Most staff only use the mobile interface, and it appears to work very well for them.
We are a smaller agency that only uses limited amounts of the functionality, but there are tools that I would have used at previous and larger entities where I was employed. The only limit to scale is how much time the business is willing invest.
Only one time in over 2 years of use where the system became unavailable during a key time. The issue was also resolved quickly, limiting any downstream complications.
It is one of the quickest loading cloud based programs that I use and there are limited drops in coverage/availability.
  • Previously, attempted to integrate with GL; have upgraded GL but have not yet integrated
No deep yet - we have updated other systems and will be looking to tie Paylocity in to them, yet it has not been done at present.
  • General Ledger
  • EHR
  • 403 (b) system (Pen Serv)
  • MS Power BI
Not certain of the top 2, but I know that there is not an available API for our 403 (b) program, which IS a limitation in our use of the Paylocity system.
  • File import/export
  • API (e.g. SOAP or REST)
None that I know of.
We have only done limited integration at this point.
Uncertain - our exposure at present is only limited in scope.
Knowledgeable and very candid, which is appreciated AND refreshing
The fact that our salesperson remains attached to the account is key, in my opinion. It keeps continuity and allows for better customer experience.
Limited usage of professional services.
Not much negotiation - the standard contract worked well for our needs.
The system is priced well, especially given that it is almost always "up". We have other solutions for which we pay more that have less "up" time and longer lead to resolution of "bugs" or issues.
The salesperson makes all the difference. The one with which we worked was top notch and ensured that we made it through implementation to full usage well.
