PhotoPrism is a self-hosted photo management solution that offers an intuitive and privacy-friendly way to organize and access your photo collection. It caters to individuals, families, and small to medium-sized businesses across various industries.
Key Features
Runs Everywhere: Access and use PhotoPrism on your phone, tablet, or desktop computer through its Progressive Web App. It provides a native app-like experience and can be conveniently installed on major operating systems and mobile devices.
Powerful Search: Easily find specific photos and videos using advanced search filters. PhotoPrism automatically classifies pictures based on content and location, and offers additional search criteria like image properties and quality.
Facial Recognition: Identify and group family and friends in your photo library with the facial recognition feature. PhotoPrism detects new faces, allowing users to rediscover forgotten shots and match them to people.
Maps & Places: Enhance your travel memories with high-resolution world maps in PhotoPrism. It enriches pictures by providing location information such as state, city, and category. Future releases will automatically create albums based on public event data.
Album Sharing: Share albums easily using secret links with no additional apps or registration required. Multiple links can be created for each album, and an expiration date can be set.
Broad File Format Support: PhotoPrism supports indexing, viewing, and converting popular image, video, and RAW formats. It aims to provide comprehensive RAW image support regardless of camera make and model. Video codecs and containers can be transcoded for maximum browser compatibility.
Advanced Metadata Extraction: PhotoPrism scans original media and sidecar files for metadata like Exif and XMP data. It normalizes and merges the information, providing access to fields such as Title, Description, Date, Location, Camera, Lens, ISO, F Number, Exposure, Focal Length, Subject, Artist, Keywords, and Copyright.
Duplicate Detection: Skip exact duplicates during library scanning and automatically stack images with shared identifiers, filenames, or time and location. Sidecar files are always stacked with associated media files.
Backup & Sync: PhotoSync enables secure background backup of iOS and Android phones. Connect directly to PhotoPrism using WebDAV clients like Microsoft's Windows Explorer and Apple's Finder for convenient file management.
