We use PitchBook to look for information for a specific startup or about a particular industry (i.e. multiples, other deals in the space, financial performance of competitors).

We also use PitchBook to validate the assumptions we use when creating financial models for our portfolio companies in the accelerator program. This information is extremely helpful since it is the most updated information (way better than reports that usually cover information from 2-3 years ago).

PitchBook is being used primarily, although not exclusively, by the research division within my organization. When conducting diligence on fund managers or specific companies, PitchBook serves as a source of quality information. Because of the wide breadth and unique data points PitchBook offers, the software is a crucial provider of data that my organization is not able to find elsewhere.

We are always watching for companies to acquire. I’ve used PitchBook at another company for the same primary reason. The secondary benefits are tremendous, as there is much to be learned about bankable market trends based on what decisions PE, VC, and fund managers are making (putting real makers behind new deals) For us, we value PitchBook for the quality of the data, and seek to approach the right acquisitions based on data that would be far too time consuming to capture on our own.

The group I was in specialized in private capital markets and private placements, and needed a specialized source for accessing the latest available data on transactions in the market. PitchBook was used by my group as well as by other groups firmwide. PitchBook helped us address the following problems: -Limited sources of reliable information for private capital markets data -Easily exportable datasets for use in custom analysis related to private capital markets activity -Research on prospective investors based on investment history for purposes of investor targeting and transaction marketing
