PowerDirector has been widely praised for its budget-friendly nature and its ability to quickly adapt from other editing software. Users have successfully utilized PowerDirector for a variety of purposes, including creating YouTube videos, capturing and editing video from VHS to DVD, and producing high-quality videos in 1080p even on older hardware. The software's ease of use makes it suitable for both professional and personal video editing needs. Its speed, design quality, and export quality have garnered appreciation from users, who have used PowerDirector to create professional-looking slideshow book trailers, cooking channel videos, and high-quality promotional videos. Additionally, PowerDirector has been helpful in improving communication and engagement with customers by reaching more people through video format and answering frequently asked questions through video tutorials. The software has also found utility in various business settings such as creating training videos, marketing materials for small businesses, and videos for websites and social media platforms. Moreover, PowerDirector is valued for its efficiency in DVD creation, video exporting, ISO creation, as well as its ability to merge product videos with attractive audio. While some users have mentioned that the software may not be the best choice for those who require more sophisticated features or have limited time to complete editing tasks, overall, PowerDirector is regarded as a comprehensive and affordable video editing solution that constantly improves within a reasonable budget.

Mobile Support: Many users have expressed frustration with the mobile support of PowerDirector, stating that it lacks functionality and requires extra steps to perform tasks. They find it lacking in features compared to the PC version.

Slow Performance with Large Files: Several reviewers have found the software to be slow and resource-intensive when working with large files, causing delays in the editing process. This can be a hindrance for users who frequently work with high-resolution videos or complex projects.

Steep Learning Curve and Stability Issues: Some users have mentioned a steep learning curve for beginners and stability issues with the software. We use PD for all our video editing, news reporting, advertising and presentations.
  • Video Editing
  • Audio Editing
  • Presentations
  • Cropping, Splitting, Effects & Transitions
  • More transition effects
  • More animated text features
Value for money if you want to use PD for basic video editing for presentations. Not suitable if you are making long videos (like a movie) that requires more visual effects.
  • Cropping, splitting videos
  • Adding transition effects
  • Making video editing a lot quicker
  • Easy to upload directly online (Youtube, Facebook)
I choose PD because it is user-friendly and easy to learn.

I've helped make tutorial videos for another company and, after a brief learning curve, I found it pretty easy to use. (It's mostly being used by the marketing department, not the whole organization.) I also love all the features it offers. It helps us be able to fill the void for needing quick and quality video content for users.
  • Quick and easy video and audio editing.
  • Great transition options.
  • The blurring feature can be tricky to figure out and remember how to do. It can also be inconsistent in how implementation works.
  • The feature for putting title cards into the video is a little tricky too.
I found the ability to make quality-looking videos using in-office generated screen captures to be a great benefit. It allowed me to help the company's team to go from having zero tutorial videos for over a decade of having a product to having about 20 in a reasonably short amount of time.
  • I think it helps assure the customers that there is support for the product.
  • It offers more peace of mind.
I think I may have tried one or two others over the years (even if just mobile apps), but PD is probably the best I've tried. (I don't remember the names of others). I did try iMovie a very long time ago, though.
Again, I haven't tried a whole lot of different video editing software over the years, but of the ones I tried, PowerDirector seemed to be the right fit for me and the team I worked with. It helped solve the need for tutorial videos and it allowed us to create a bunch of videos in a very small time frame. I recommend it especially for people without a lot of video editing experience.

Currently, I use PowerDirector to created short videos for our company for promo spots on our website. I also have used it to edit previous videos to add or remove content as needed. Currently, only our IT and Marketing Department uses this product but with how easy it is to use, anyone in our company could use it.
  • Almost everything you need is on one screen and very little configuration is needed.
  • Support for many different file types and the ability to upload to social media from the program is great.
  • Editing video is super easy!
  • The advertisements to upgrade need to go. I understand you guys gotta make money but I already paid for the product I have and I don't need a popup every time I open the program telling me there is an upgrade available for $xx.99.
  • Better documentation on how to use certain plugins.
  • DirectorZone is pointless.
If they needed something easy and affordable this would be it. Hands down. It really does not matter what your experience is with editing, with PowerDirector you can figure it out very easily. It also really does not matter what you need it for, it can be used for small home movie projects all the way up to large scale production projects. I have used PowerDirector for both and everything in between.
  • Positive. Makes my life easier as the "go to guy" for editing videos that need to be done "yesterday"
  • Positive. The price point is fantastic for a full feature video editor.
  • Positive. Saves on us having to have an Adobe license just for Premiere Pro.
Although I do have Premiere Pro and PowerDirector AND use them BOTH. I find that I do go back to PowerDirector when I need to get something done in a hurry or for a smaller project. That's not to say that PowerDirector is insignificant or small, but more along the lines of efficient and affordable. Premiere Pro is great too but can be daunting for some.

We use PowerDirector to edit videos and combine videos and add some effects as well. I find it to be useful and easy to use. Also, the learning curve to get started on this was easy which was one of the main reasons we upgrade to the paid plan.
  • Easy to use.
  • Relatively easy to learn.
  • Simple UI/UX.
  • Could have more features available.
It's great for editing videos that need to be shortened, videos that you need to add music to, or to produce videos for Facebook Ads.
  • Fast turn around on editing.

I use PowerDirector for all of my editing needs. I have two different YouTube channels and I've found that this program is just as good as their competition that charges much more. It looks, smells, and acts just like any high-quality editing program but without the hefty price tag. I've been using this program for years and although the platform still looks the same the continual improvements make it a great value for anyone wanting to make professional looking videos on their own.
  • It does everything the more expensive versions provide. Plus they send updates to give you the best version of their program.
  • I like that the program comes with many transitions, etc. to give you the most options available for video editing.
  • I really like that they started a yearly service that gives you all of their programs and updates as they come available. I've upgraded for years and now I don't have to. I have all the upgrades as they come.
  • Some areas of the program can be hard to find when you get the most recent updates.
  • It would be nice to have more tutorials to find out where the different upgraded options for editing are located in the program.
  • Some of the plugin features can be hard to find once installed. It would nice to have a "Plugin" button that could take you to all of the options available.
Definitely suited for a business that has a presence on the internet. It is a relatively easy program to use and will make your video quality look professional. It doesn't matter what business you are into, if video is something that will take your company to another level than this is a good program to get the job done.
  • I've had plenty of compliments on the professional editing of my videos.
  • The ROI is so minimal it's worth every penny spent. Professional videos that you can do yourself is always a winner.
  • The only negative is the potential learning curve. It takes some time to learn the program and find where all of the features are located.
