I am a project manager for a construction/development company. I am currently using Procore to manage two Projects. I use it for tendering, daily reporting, safety, drawing, and document management. In General, compared to other construction management programs I have used, I find Procore slow, not very flexible. for sending out drawings to contractors and consultants it is slow and cumbersome. For each drawing you want to send you need to download and wait for an email for each file—very time consuming, and the link you receive is not labeled. Their tech support people are friendly but not that helpful. The safety inspection tool works ok. The daily log can be used to record lots of data which I don't find helpful. I do like the photos. The RFI and Task function annoys people more than anything and I find it more time consuming than other ways of managing. Overall, Procore is like a multi-tool for Project management, none of which work very well.
  • The safety inspection tool works well and is relatively easy to use.
  • The bidding tool works reasonably well to use.
  • Photos and being able to categorize photos.
  • Slow and not very flexible.
  • Issuing drawings from Procore is slow and time consuming.
  • Creating tasks and RFIs is time consuming to set up and manage.
  • Scheduling tools are difficult to work with.
Very frustrating to use for the issuing of drawings electronically—extremely time-consuming. RFIs and tasks are slow to set up and you need to constantly update and manage them—frustrates employees, contractors, and consultants. The bidding tool works ok, same with photos. I don't like the schedule tools; I would much rather use Microsoft Projects for all of my scheduling needs. For marking up drawings or estimating I would much rather use Bluebeam.

  • Has not improved efficiency.
  • Has not saved time.
  • Has not improved our company and project objectives.
Microsoft Projects for scheduling. But I find it slower to respond if I am working on the schedule outside of Procore. Generally, everything you do in Procore takes a little bit longer with more added steps and more managing.
I don't think there has been any impact on the speed at which daily logs are entered. The main advantage is it is easier to go back to previous daily logs to review things like manpower, photos, and weather.
No impact whatsoever.

I am a consultant on several hundred construction projects. I have been signed up for Procore on several projects without my permission by contractors using this program and it is a complete waste of my valuable time. At one point I was getting 50 emails a day that had nothing to do with me. I called Procore and asked them to stop sending me emails and they refused. I had to threaten them with legal action to stop them from sending me emails.

It has made me very angry that I have to deal with this annoyance when I am so busy trying to work. Who do they think they are breaking the law sending emails to people that don't want to use their stupid program. This needs to stop. If I was a lawyer, I would be suing them right now for all my wasted time.
  • It wastes your time very well and annoys me with every useless notification I get
  • Procore should not be able to send emails to people without their permission. This needs to change and proper permissions should be obtained before sending any emails.
  • It is extremely difficult to get Procore to stop sending you emails
If only the rating could be less than zero, I would choose that. I have had nothing but a nightmare with this program. I have now changed all my contracts to state that I refuse to work on a project if I am required to use this program. I would rather NOT have any business than use this program.

  • It has cost me thousands of dollars in wasted time.
  • It has increased my blood pressure as every useless email makes me angry.
  • I have made new friends with other consultants that hate this program.
The impact this has had on my organization has been all negative. It has wasted both my time as well as my inspector's time. From a consultant point of view, it is a nightmare. I don't know any consultant that likes this program. I have over 200 construction projects on the go right now and every consultant I know feels the same way about being forced to use this awful program.
It has slowed me down considerably wasting my time with unwanted emails. I have wasted time phoning Procore trying to get them to take my email address out of their system with no luck. I have files 2 complaints to the CRTC now for violation of email privacy laws that they continue to break.
There are many good project management software options available but this is not one of them. Most other programs do not send out useless notifications to team members when it has nothing to do with them. One called "Newforma" is way better. You get a link to download what you need to look at, end of story. There are no repeat notifications over and over on items that do not concern you.

Our company no longer uses Procore. We used it for 1 year. It was used across the whole organization, and each department used different modules. It was intended to address organization and centralizing of project information. We underwent all the pieces of training and watched all the tutorials. Procore guided us in the onboarding.
  • The photos tool is very useful and was able to export by date.
  • The drawing tool helps for viewing current files.
  • The contacts tool was helpful to have info in one place.
  • The servers crashed constantly, locking us out of accessing valuable project information.
  • The app crashed constantly, rendering it an unusable tool for installers in the field who are paid by the hour.
  • The markup and editing tool in drawings was unintuitive and cumbersome.
The software suite is well suited to viewing drawings in one place for many people on a team. The photos tool was helpful for documenting conditions. It is not suited for editing drawings or communicating RFI or financial information.

PlanGrid is better, simpler, and the app and website do not crash. It's not trying to do too much all the time - just a few tasks in simple ways. Procore tried to unify so many things, that it ended up not doing any of those things really well. Also, Procore servers were constantly crashing.
It was beneficial to have access to common drawings from various consultants who were also using Procore.
  • Photo documentation was faster.
  • Unified common drawings are important.
  • Document centralizing is important.
  • Gain visibility into projects
  • Ensure information is accessible and up to date
  • Document job site conditions
We no longer use Procore - it did not help achieve goals.
With training, it was easy to get things up and running on projects. However, it could not sustain the information flow and keep up with the server crashes.

We receive bid invites and plans from Procore. We also upload submittals and close-out documents, along with change orders, RFI's and contracts, and insurance certificates.
  • I can only give you a negative opinion as a subcontractor. It might be the best thing that hit the construction industry on the Contractor's side but I really doubt it. It's just not user-friendly from my side of Procore.
  • I will give them an A+ for getting the bid invites out. They are constantly flooding my email with the same bid invite over and over and over. God help you if it's a popular job and there are 5 or 6 contractors that can afford Procore.
  • They are a really security-minded company. You have to change passwords constantly, even if it's for the same job, but from two different contractors. You have to come up with a new one and can't use one you already used.
  • Making it more user-friendly for subcontractors. I'm not sure how well it works for contractors, but a lot of the ones I talked to are not happy with Procore due to the fact that the software is complicated to work with.
  • You have to constantly change your password on the same job, not because you can't remember it, but because they feel it's time for you to change it.
  • Bid Invites or documents can't be forwarded and still work. If my estimator gets a bid invite and forwards it to me, or if I forward the one sent to me to the bid program (I use the hyperlinks to the job), it won't work. I have to call the contractor and have them send me the bid invite or I have to go to the original invite in Outlook to get the hyperlinks to work.
Procore, for all I know, may be God's gift to the contractors who buy it, but to us subcontractors who are forced to use it, it's a major pain. Procore slows down how fast we can do things in our office. I cannot think of a specific scenario where Procore is well suited.

Out of the 4 programs I could think of off the top of my head, Procore is dead last. iSqFt is one step above Procore with their slow download and upload speeds. When I am asked to look at plans on Procore, I go out of my way to find the info some other way, usually on a building exchange or from another Contractor who had sense enough to not buy Procore.
Procore does not enable easy collaboration between us (subcontractors) and General Contractors. I have not really benefited from any of my experiences with Procore in any way that I can think of. Again, it's not subcontractor friendly, and when I get an invite in Procore I find a way not to use it.
  • No positive impact.
  • By no means does it save time and efficiency for subcontractors.
  • Gain visibility into projects
The only thing I can think of is when Procore sends me an invite I have the name of a job and I can go find it elsewhere. I can't really think of any way that Procore has helped us achieve any of our goals, with the exception I just mentioned.
There's not going to be much integration if the program isn't user-friendly. Before you buy Procore, do your homework. There are so many websites telling you what I'm telling you and giving alternates to a lot of other user-friendly programs.
