ProjectLibre is a versatile project management software that has found various applications across different industries and educational settings. Users have reported using ProjectLibre to efficiently manage projects and teach students about project management concepts in IT management courses. With its compatibility with Windows 10 and Linux operating systems, the software is used by IT departments to effectively manage infrastructure and development projects. It provides a user-friendly alternative to MS Project, allowing users to open MS Project files and create diagrams and graphics to enhance project management and control.

Businesses have also benefited from using ProjectLibre to streamline project management processes. The software helps companies manage projects, timelines, and requirements, providing clear and functional organization of activities. For those who are number-resistant or find time management complicated, ProjectLibre offers an intuitive interface and tools that simplify the process. In addition, it can be used as a low-cost replacement for Microsoft Project, providing functionality to track projects and milestones without requiring a Microsoft Project license.

In educational settings, including teaching environments and product development settings, ProjectLibre has proven to be a valuable tool. Instructors use it to educate students on project management concepts and allow them to develop project plans and Gantt charts. Meanwhile, in product development, the software ensures efficient planning and coordination by allowing simultaneous work on different aspects of a project. Through its open-source nature, ProjectLibre offers workflow design, project tracking, and expense tracking capabilities.

Furthermore, ProjectLibre supports cross-platform usage of project management tools within organizations. It enables tracking and managing various projects seamlessly while eliminating the need for costly licenses associated with competitors like Microsoft or WPS Office. As an alternative option that provides similar functionality without payment requirements, ProjectLibre continues to gain popularity among users seeking cost-effective solutions for their project management needs.

Overall, users have found ProjectLibre to be a valuable tool in managing projects efficiently, teaching project management concepts, creating Gantt charts, simplifying time management, and delivering cost-effective project management solutions.

Users of ProjectLibre commonly recommend the following:

  1. Spend time learning the software: Users suggest investing time in familiarizing oneself with ProjectLibre before embarking on a project. By taking the time to understand its features and capabilities, users can make the most out of the software and effectively manage their projects.

  2. Provide a help/manual document: Many users recommend having a comprehensive help or manual document available for new users. This resource would assist them in understanding the various functionalities and navigating through the software more easily, facilitating a smoother onboarding process.

  3. Alternative to Microsoft Office: Users who are frustrated with Microsoft Office and its constant updates find ProjectLibre to be a suitable alternative. They appreciate that it is open source and continuously developed, offering a refreshing change from traditional project management software options.

ProjectLibre is very similar to Microsoft Project, but it is free. It has a user-friendly interface that is simple to understand and use. Best of all is its compatibility to import and export data to Project and PDF without any restriction. ProjectLibre is very important to execute medium and large scale projects that we develop. There is a possibility to create many diagrams, with Gantt and PERT being the most used by me. I feel like you don't lose anything to any paid competitor software

Great for complex spreadsheets, project roadmapping, and Gantt charts. Assigning tasks and responsibilities within a project is very easy. Spreadsheets are just as functional as Microsoft and can be copied over to other programs via csv.

Not as great for presentations or reports that require detailed visual/graphic design, doesn't have the same level of quality pre-formatted templates that other programs have.

In my opinion, ProjectLibre is recommended for all those who need a quick tool, easy to use and simple for the management of project activities, and its related dependence and priorities. It is less appropriate when looking for a software that manages project costs and other expenses data relative to an activity/project.

Project Libre is well suited for individuals who want to try cheaper alternatives to MS office since it is compatible with a wide range of file formats, including those used by popular office suites such as Microsoft Office. It offers a full suite of office tools, including a word processor, spreadsheet program, and presentation software, allowing users to complete a wide range of tasks without having to purchase additional software. And in the modern world, it has become very common for user tends to shift towards open source programs that are regularly updated and have transparency rather than tech owned by a Billion dollar company.

Great Project Planning

ProjectLibre is well suited to developing proformas and gantt charts for initial project scoping. It works well where there is a clear understanding of the main steps etc. It can br used as a way of measuring overall project progress. ProjectLibre suffers in its versatility for a live project where tasks may be made impromptu and tasks are ill-defined.

If you have multiple users on different platforms, and you need MS Project connectivity, ProjectLibre is really your only option. The cloud beta is very powerful as a single-source deployment but until that's available outside of beta, you are best to use ProjectLibre along side instances of MS Project. Depending on your user, the project files can be easily shared and stored centrally and collaborated on (not simultaneously).

When you decide to use this, we need to keep in mind that this is an open source platform. While you can put in a request feature, there is no guarantee you will get it.

If you rely on Customer service, this is something that is almost non-existent (considering it is open source, it is not fair to expect one)

As a project management tool, especially with more straightforward timelines and components, ProjectLibre is a great alternative to some of the costly PM software tools. I have managed many projects with both MS Project and ProjectLibre, and I think ProjectLibre is a great alternative, especially when I've worked in regions of the world where users cannot afford other PM tools.

You have to come in without bias and looking forward to embracing a new program. That sounds a bit biased myself, yes, but this program would have been perfect for the organization I consulted with. Absolutely perfect. But out of twelve individuals, only one had an open mind and wanted to explore the program. The remainder saw the program and said "Oh, it's like Excel, I'll just use that instead..." because they knew Excel. ProjectLibre is FUNCTION-centric, not pretty for the sake of being pretty. Once you get into it, you will fall in and love it. If you know marketing automation software, you will know how to use this program. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to manage their time visually, in a program that is built to be what they need and not just something that looks good on a second monitor when the boss walks in.

ProjectLibre is a great project management tool, especially for small businesses that don't have the budget to purchase commercial project management apps. Furthermore, while a bit challenging to learn, it's still easier than most of the others, and you can still read or open files from MS Project. These are just a few features that would make it affordable and attractive to most small businesses or startups.

It's great for managing small and medium projects. ProjectLibre is free and we can do the following things:

  • Create calendars for projects, tasks, and resources.
  • Allocate material and human resources to tasks. Sequence tasks and use the main forms of dependencies between them.
  • Evaluate the critical path of the project.
