ProjectLibre is a versatile project management software that has found various applications across different industries and educational settings. Users have reported using ProjectLibre to efficiently manage projects and teach students about project management concepts in IT management courses. With its compatibility with Windows 10 and Linux operating systems, the software is used by IT departments to effectively manage infrastructure and development projects. It provides a user-friendly alternative to MS Project, allowing users to open MS Project files and create diagrams and graphics to enhance project management and control.

Businesses have also benefited from using ProjectLibre to streamline project management processes. The software helps companies manage projects, timelines, and requirements, providing clear and functional organization of activities. For those who are number-resistant or find time management complicated, ProjectLibre offers an intuitive interface and tools that simplify the process. In addition, it can be used as a low-cost replacement for Microsoft Project, providing functionality to track projects and milestones without requiring a Microsoft Project license.

In educational settings, including teaching environments and product development settings, ProjectLibre has proven to be a valuable tool. Instructors use it to educate students on project management concepts and allow them to develop project plans and Gantt charts. Meanwhile, in product development, the software ensures efficient planning and coordination by allowing simultaneous work on different aspects of a project. Through its open-source nature, ProjectLibre offers workflow design, project tracking, and expense tracking capabilities.

Furthermore, ProjectLibre supports cross-platform usage of project management tools within organizations. It enables tracking and managing various projects seamlessly while eliminating the need for costly licenses associated with competitors like Microsoft or WPS Office. As an alternative option that provides similar functionality without payment requirements, ProjectLibre continues to gain popularity among users seeking cost-effective solutions for their project management needs.

Overall, users have found ProjectLibre to be a valuable tool in managing projects efficiently, teaching project management concepts, creating Gantt charts, simplifying time management, and delivering cost-effective project management solutions.

Users of ProjectLibre commonly recommend the following:

  1. Spend time learning the software: Users suggest investing time in familiarizing oneself with ProjectLibre before embarking on a project. By taking the time to understand its features and capabilities, users can make the most out of the software and effectively manage their projects.

  2. Provide a help/manual document: Many users recommend having a comprehensive help or manual document available for new users. This resource would assist them in understanding the various functionalities and navigating through the software more easily, facilitating a smoother onboarding process.

  3. Alternative to Microsoft Office: Users who are frustrated with Microsoft Office and its constant updates find ProjectLibre to be a suitable alternative. They appreciate that it is open source and continuously developed, offering a refreshing change from traditional project management software options.

I have to start this with a caveat because, if we had been able to get past a personal hurdle, I would have pushed for its use in the company I consulted with everyone. We approached it in the hopes of managing several employees, as well as the timeline of their work. Previously, the company used Excel and Sheets (Google Drive) (more on this in a bit). It addresses the complications of time management for those who are number-resistant; ie - more visually friendly.
  • Visual management of time!
  • Realistic management (multiple projects at once because not all projects operate independently of others where time is concerned).
  • Data handling - reports, etc...
  • I will get into this more, but comparisons. Comparison is the evil twin of this program.
You have to come in without bias and looking forward to embracing a new program. That sounds a bit biased myself, yes, but this program would have been perfect for the organization I consulted with. Absolutely perfect. But out of twelve individuals, only one had an open mind and wanted to explore the program. The remainder saw the program and said "Oh, it's like Excel, I'll just use that instead..." because they knew Excel. ProjectLibre is FUNCTION-centric, not pretty for the sake of being pretty. Once you get into it, you will fall in and love it. If you know marketing automation software, you will know how to use this program. I highly recommend it for anyone who wants to manage their time visually, in a program that is built to be what they need and not just something that looks good on a second monitor when the boss walks in.

  • While the company didn't go with it because of what I'd witnessed, I have recommended it to many people I felt fell within their scope. For them, I can see it streamlining their workflow and giving them more time to focus on other things, rather than dwelling on how to run a workflow program.
ProjectLibre is open-sourced, so constantly on the verge of getting better. I think this one is more suited against other workflow programs because it is built for function and (like referenced in another section) not meant to be something you can distract your boss with to prove you're working. It is uniquely functional.
There are a lot of discussions online about it, and a customer addition based manual. While that can lead to some confusion, I am not the kind of person who likes talking on the phone. So it is easier to go online with ProjectLibre!

ProjectLibre is an Opensource alternative to Microsoft Project. it allows users to design workflows, track projects, and related expenses. It does most of everything most project management tools do. In my business, we use Project Libre when we are designing new products, and this helps a lot, so we don't put the cart before the horse or spend too much time waiting on something to complete when we could also be preparing something else. As we're going along the product development cycle, we develop a new product, and we can also start looking at packaging criteria and design even before we have the actual product in hand and also have everything ready as we need it.
  • It opens Microsoft Project files, therefore making it somewhat unrestricted in use or sharing files from MS Project.
  • It has a simple and familiar user interface.
  • Can they please create some kind of collaboration tool among groups?
  • The interface can do with some modernization.
ProjectLibre is a great project management tool, especially for small businesses that don't have the budget to purchase commercial project management apps. Furthermore, while a bit challenging to learn, it's still easier than most of the others, and you can still read or open files from MS Project. These are just a few features that would make it affordable and attractive to most small businesses or startups.

  • It's free. The only investment required is your time.
  • Product development efficiency has increased significantly, therefore saving this company a lot of time and money. It also allows us to get products to market in the shortest time possible.
The significant reason for choosing Project Libre is that it's free and my business is very small. In fact, we have less than 10 employees. It's easy to learn, especially since its interface is very similar to the leading project management software. It wasn't a hard choice at all, and I would recommend ProjectLibre to any small business or start-up organization
It's simple to use once you know what your objectives are and the steps to get there. There is a lot of support online via the online manual, the ProjectLibre community, and of course Youtube

This software is used by the IT department, specifically the project area. It is an open-source program specializing in project management of the company. Its operation is very similar to Microsoft Project that we used once. The main objective of the team using this software is to maintain an organization and management of development and infrastructure projects.
  • Open-source.
  • Compatible with Linux, Mac OS and Windows.
  • Friendly interface.
  • Translation of some words.
  • Interface is not fast and fluid.
  • Problems saving the file sometimes. The program closes.
It's great for managing small and medium projects. ProjectLibre is free and we can do the following things:

  • Create calendars for projects, tasks, and resources.
  • Allocate material and human resources to tasks. Sequence tasks and use the main forms of dependencies between them.
  • Evaluate the critical path of the project.

  • See the Analytical Structure of the registered project.
  • Evaluate the critical path of the project.
  • Sequence tasks and use the main forms of dependencies between them.
ProjectLibre is a free tool with no limit for users using the tool and mainly works on all Windows, Linux and MAC OS operating systems. It is a very interesting alternative for those who are starting in the project management area. And you don't want to spend on paid software licenses and you want to try using a feature-rich project management tool.
We had to use ProjectLibre technical support a few times and whenever we used this service we were well taken care of and our cases were resolved quickly and cordially. You must understand English. Our most common problem was program errors closing while trying to save a file. And also doubts about the unfriendly interface of the software.
