Proliant Review
Use Cases and Deployment Scope
Pros
- Payroll is very user friendly and streamlined
- Employee use is very straightforward and user friendly
- Managing employee data
Cons
- The time administration feature feels dated and could use improvements in terms of being able to view specific pay periods, download timesheets, have a more modern view.
- Proliant Time Off does not notify admins when an employee cancels already approved PTO, but does send delayed notifications when an employee cancels a pending request which is less helpful. We're also having issues receiving notification emails when PTO requests are approved. If we do get the email, frequently it's days later.
- We have run into a lot of hiccups with reports we thought we could either custom create or edit existing and have found that to be lacking at times.
- Running reports for changes. There is not one centralized space to view all changes / history to employee fields. It's also been a challenge to keep track of where all we should check to see changes + it's not always accurate.
- The customer service portion has had some challenges. While we do really appreciate having a main point of contact, it has been a challenge to not have a general number to call into with quick questions and instead, we typically have to email our designated rep which could take days to hear back from if the topic is not urgent. We were told we'd have a backup team always available in addition to our main support rep and that has not happened. It has also been a struggle that there seems to be so many specialized teams behind the scenes, that when we do have a more complex question, our rep generally has to engage multiple departments to determine a cause.
- Some things have not been nearly as simple as they were shown during the sales / implementation phase. Things like an accurate org chart have proved to be highly difficult to put into effect and we have spent hours looking into something that should seemingly be very easy to have automatically made and updated based on our cost centers.
Return on Investment
- Switching to Proliant from our previous HR system has been a significant in terms of keeping accurate data and being able to rely on the system.
- Overall the system has helped our team be more streamlined, efficient, and organized.
