What is ProModel?

ProModel is a discrete-event simulation technology that is used to plan, design, and improve new or existing manufacturing, logistics, and other operational systems. It aims to empower the user to accurately represent real-world processes, including their inherent variability and interdependencies, in order to conduct predictive analysis on potential changes. Optimize a system around key performance indicators.

Its AutoCAD edition aims to enable users to quickly build a spatially accurate layout and process simulation model simultaneously all within AutoCAD, using Factory Design Assets and the ProModel AutoCAD Add-in. Users can simulate the scaled model directly in AutoCAD with the click of a button. View results in the Output Viewer and make, test and validate layout and process changes in AutoCAD. Finalize the model, then view it in 3D with Inventor® and ProModel 3D Animator.

ProModel's Process Simulator has proven to be a versatile tool for businesses in the manufacturing sector, allowing users to create digital models of their unique processes and produce real results. By using the software, users can perform analysis on staffing, bottlenecks, resource use, location analysis, information flow analysis, project portfolio management, business rule analysis and scheduling impacts.

Users have found that even simple models can uncover surprising insights which can be used to make process changes or prevent ineffective proposals. For example, using Process Simulator enabled a reviewer to create a digital twin of their manufacturing facility and analyze line balancing and flow pattern issues. The flexibility of the tool allows users to input their own terminology as well as their own data, which engages customers and reflects their unique processes. Even though the tool requires a different approach to thinking about processes than traditional methods may require, it fits the process paradigm well. Companies have reported that using Process Simulator to support key decision-making processes has resulted in multi-million-dollar annual savings. Additionally, the software can be presented easily at various organizational levels due to its simplicity while still being powerful enough to handle complicated flows with logic.
