Propel is a versatile Quality Management System software tool that serves as a core solution for various purposes. Users rely on it for engineering and document changes, audits, corrective and preventive actions, supplier management, nonconformances, equipment maintenance and calibration, and regulatory license management. One of its standout features is the project management functionality which allows users to monitor the impact of product changes on customers, partners, and channels. This enables them to understand the effects of these modifications and make informed decisions.

In addition to project management, Propel facilitates the gathering of ideas from customers, partners, and employees during the product development process. This helps in capturing specific customer requirements, ensuring that the end-product perfectly aligns with user needs. The software also acts as a source of insightful product dashboards for internal teams, providing data analytics that keep the executive team updated and aid in making strategic decisions.

Built on Salesforce, Propel stands out due to its high level of customization. Users can tailor the software to their specific needs, ensuring a seamless integration into existing workflows. Alongside its adaptability, Propel is also praised for its exceptional customer support feature which provides assistance when needed.

One prominent use case where Propel has proven effective is in the management of an Electronic OMS system. The software efficiently resolves challenges related to this domain, making operations smoother and more streamlined.

Overall, Propel proves its worth as a reliable tool for managing projects, tracking data split between product lines, modeling cost for marketing purposes, simulating ad costs, evaluating product ideas' feasibility, managing product lifecycles across various products, identifying alternate or substitute components within the supply chain process, and fulfilling training needs to ensure employees are properly equipped with knowledge on products and any changes made to them.

Flexible Reporting and Dashboards: Several users have praised the system's customizable reporting and dashboard features, allowing for greater management of customer-facing processes. The flexibility of these tools has been appreciated by multiple reviewers.

Clean User Interface and Easy Accessibility: Many users have found the system to have a clean user interface that is easy to navigate, making it highly user-friendly. This accessibility has been highlighted as a positive aspect of the product by several customers.

Useful OMS Electronic System: The OMS electronic system has proven to be particularly valuable in solving product layout problems and use cases. Its usefulness in managing product information and revenue channels has been mentioned positively by multiple reviewers.

Cumbersome Back-End Management: Some users have found the back-end management of training requirements to be cumbersome, leading to difficulties in organizing and tracking their training programs effectively. They have expressed frustration with the complex navigation and lack of intuitive features, making it time-consuming and challenging to manage their training needs efficiently.

Limited Flexibility with Exports and Reports: Several reviewers have mentioned a lack of flexibility with exports and reports, which hampers their ability to customize and analyze data according to their specific needs. Users feel restricted by the limited options for exporting data formats and report customization, limiting their ability to extract meaningful insights from the system.

Desire for More Customization Options: A number of users expressed a strong desire for more customization options for development, as they feel that the current level of customization is inadequate for tailoring the platform to their unique business requirements. They believe that additional customization capabilities would allow them greater control over the system's functionality and better alignment with their organization's specific workflows.

Propel is our core Quality Management System software tool. We use it for engineering and document changes, audits, corrective and preventive actions, supplier management, nonconformances, equipment maintenance and calibration, and regulatory license management.
  • Reporting and dashboards
  • Customizable workflows
  • Training management
  • Back-end management of training requirements can be cumbersome
  • Calibration and maintenance could use more automation of recurring requirements
Propel is a solid choice for any company currently using Salesforce and with the ability to manage a configurable system. It would not work well in cases where a company needs a lot of guidance to set up processes the way that they want. It has a fairly intuitive user interface, and adoption for less-tech-savvy employees is straightforward. Economically, it works better for companies with minimal "non-email" users, such as production floor personnel, since all users in the training system will have to have licenses.

Our company uses Propel to manage projects, record their revenue through each project's and campaign's life cycle, and to be able to see other affiliated data such as data split between product lines and modeling cost for marketing. Propel allows us to simulate the cost for running ads and fulfilling on a product idea and then determining if it is a viable path forward.

Propel is well suited for our newsletter and publishing business and there were not any improvements that I can think of as our use case is fairly simple. We use Propel to model marketing campaigns we desire to launch, to determine their market fit and marketing cost vs. their revenue potential for different versions of the campaign. This is a very valuable use case for us as it allows several of our teams to see the same data and be informed.

Our company needed to understand the impact of product changes on our customers, partners, and channels. Through Propel's project management, we can now monitor how changes to our products affect our customers. Moreover, Propel PLM lets us gather ideas from our customers, partners, and employees to capture specific customer requirements when bringing our products to the market.
  • Offers full PLM capabilities on my mobile phone.
  • Greater flexibility to manage other customer facing processes.
  • Customer service is very fast.
  • Lack of flexibility with exports and reports.
  • Salesforce has limitations on the page layouts which is not a major issue.
Propel PLM has helped us to determine our product requirements for different markets, regions, or product lines. In addition, it works with our customers to review, update and approve their requirements for our products, hence we can be able to see how changes to our commitments and products impact our milestones.

We use it as a source of product dashboards for our internal team. Helps our executive team keep up to date with our data analytics and make sure we are on track to hitting our quarterly goals. The nice thing is that it removes some of the technical challenges of our senior leadership and gives them understandable data to help make strategic decisions.
  • Clean UI
  • Easy to Access
  • User friendly
  • Customization for development
  • Pricing
  • Some features can be found in other products for cheaper.
The best scenario has been easy implementation that has given our leadership team access to our reports. It does have some lack of customization that my development team could build out a bit better. At the end of the day, it comes down to cost and we're willing to have our devs work on more interesting projects than being purely customizable.

Propel is used to manage the product lifecycles in our organization. We set categories for each item so that we can properly autonumber it and then track where it is used in various products across our product offerings. We can also easily identify specific items that can be used as alternates or substitutes so that if we run into any supply chain issues, we can locate additional substitute components to use if we have them available. We can also use Propel for our training needs to ensure that our employees are properly trained on all of the products we offer, any changes that are made to the makeup of those products, annual safety training, etc.
  • BOM Management
  • Usability
  • Integrations to ERP
  • Training offerings
  • Easier overall management/configuration
  • More automation between Propel and Salesforce
If you're already using another solution like Arena, Agile, or another smaller-named tool, Propel is just as capable. The big benefit is that Propel sits inside of Salesforce, which is a huge benefit in that users only need to go to one place for multiple different activities. If you're already using Salesforce this is a great opportunity to bring your PLM or QMS workflows into the fold. If you haven't used Salseforce before Propel will get everything configured for you and train you on how to use the system.
