Pure Storage FlashBlade is being used primarily for our research department for certain data sets. It will also be used for digital imaging storage for certain clinical department. We were looking for something to provide reliable and fast access with attached storage to some applications.
  • High performance storage
  • Highly scalable solution
  • Simple management
  • SMB file sharing should be more user friendly and have more Windows file system-like features.
  • When turning on Window mode, it should impose limitations for future volume expansion to the next units.
  • Configuration screen for Directory service is confusing and difficult to setup.
It's well suited for high-performance storage requirements used to support NFS. Windows SMB share is less flexible than other NAS storage.
  • FlashBlade is well suited for our research and can provide storage to handle our genome research project.
FlashBlade is high capacity and much higher performance than other disk based NAZ servers.
  • We may look into using it as a backup media for our enterprise data protection system. We'll wait and see.

Currently no active user using the flashblade. Myself is the only test user
The engineer we worked with had been helpful in providing extra help in implementation which made us more comfortable to proceed.

The initial use case for our 1st FlashArray was for high performance VM storage. We were rolling our our initial Kubernetes cluster and needed a good storage solution. The Pure Storage Orchestrator plugged right into our initial deployment and worked so well we used it for all the storage for our new 150+ node Kubernetes deployment at our new datacenter with almost all our production systems utilizing it.
  • Kubernetes support
  • Replication
  • Great support
  • Price
  • BYO keys to S3 storage
Pure Storage FlashBlade is a great all-purpose storage solution for our datacenter and over time a big win over AWS S3 in both price and performance. Due to the price, many companies looking to have an on-prem data lake will need to look at other HDD bases systems for a tier2 data lake that doesn't require the performance of Pure.
  • Has been very reliable
  • Has given us a fast enough storage for us to attempt things that would;t be possible otherwise
Whenever we have had an issue, support has been quick to reply and find a solution.
Good API, multi-protocol support is great.
Pure Storage FlashBlade provides higher performance than the competition.
All of our research and production tasks running on-prem use prep storage

We have 3 people in our sysops dept that keep our pure healthy
