The product is supposed to address accounting, but, in my experience, it is continuously problematic at that level.
- In my experience, change the labels and locations on buttons to make you click on their sales items rather than complete tasks.
- In my experience, waste huge amounts of screen space with useless information and pop-up advertising
- In my experience, change the meanings and names within their program of accounting terms that have been in use for over 100 years.
- In my experience, block users from doing certain accounting transactions because they are smarter than the accountants that use the program.
- Support - In my opinion, their support staff does not understand accounting, basic logic, and in most cases, the QBO program itself.
- Terminology - Use the terms "Debit" and "Credit" with or instead of the terms "increase" and "decrease." And stop making up new terms to describe old things.
- In my opinion, stop trying to make more money off of your customers by forcing them to make extra clicks to accomplish tasks.

- In my opinion, I have wasted many hours trying to get support from useless personnel
- In my experience, I wasted many hours trying to find a transaction that the program did not enter into the audit logs. Then wasted more hours arguing with useless support staff, telling me, "that is an accounting error."
- Some of the most basic accounting reports can only be generated by creating a "Custom Report."
- A/P
- A/R
- G/L
- Use a GL account called WIPTRANS (the name is actually irrelevant) to process owner contribution purchases because QuickBooks Online will not allow expenses to be applied to the proper contra account.
- We must continually find creative ways to enter transactions in ways that get them to the proper place on the P&L and Balance Sheet. QBO does not allow direct entry of certain transactions to certain places (like you can not pay a bill from a liability/loan account). It very annoying and wastes time.
- We are continually looking for creative ways to block advertisements that Intuit places all over this "Paid Program". The ads are annoying and users are forces to waste time clicking exit on them to make them go away.
- As a training tool on "How not to do accounting."
- Cloud Solutions
- Implemented in-house
- Had to change many account names back to the proper "Accounting Terminology."
- Many useless accounts put into the G/L by QBP can not be deleted.
- QuickBooks Online does not integrate with all banks.
- Most things have been dumbed down so much that they become a little confusing for experienced accountants. That might be something that makes it easier to use for new users, but I do not think so.
- Transactions paid with owner funds
- Moving bulk transactions on invoices
Quickbooks terminated out Payroll account with them on 8/19/19. It has recently come to our attention that they have been randomly filing fraudulent payroll tax reports with both the IRS and the state of Oregon since that time. According to their software, they have also been repeatedly (fraudulently) refiling previously filed payroll tax reports. This makes both the IRS and the claim that we owe them large sums of money.

QBOA -- It time to make the move.
I am using some apps -- Tsheets and Zen Payroll. While both of them get the job done with QBO there is still some work to be done in order for the apps to be what I would call truly integrated. For example, when I run a payroll in Zen the transaction is sent to QBO. It is a split transaction with on line showing the gross wages and the other for employer taxes which is fine for my purposes. However, when the transaction clears the bank and QBO imports the transaction, the Zen payroll transaction is actually two transactions -- one for the net wages to the employee and the other for the combination of employee and employer taxes. QBO cannot make the match between the bank transactions and the transaction sent directly by Zen to QBO. I am sure this issue will be worked out in the near future.
There other issue I am trying to overcome is the lack of a more robust document management system. While you can scan documents into QBO and attach them to some transactions, there is no folder structure and you cannot attach documents to all transactions -- a good example would be a bank statement. I would like the ability to download the bank statement into QBO (which can be done) and once the bank reconciliation is complete attach the statement to that 'transaction' and have it not show as an 'unattached' document or at least have the ability to put it into a separate bank statement folder for later reference.
- Ability for me to interact/communicate with a client regarding a specific transaction with a full audit trail.
- Ability to connect with several accounts (Square, PayPal, bank and credit card) electronically so we have the most up to date transactions and balances.
- Ability for both my client and me as the accountant to be working in the company's books at the same time.
- It needs a more robust document management system with the ability to attach documents to more types of transactions.
- Expanded ability to create more custom reports.
- It needs to add an online POS system to its mix of products so clients currently using the desktop version of QB and QB POS can make a smoother transition to the cloud.

- Employee efficiency -- we are reviewing clients books everyday versus a set periods such as weekly or end of the month. If we have questions regarding the transaction we can ask the question usually the following day when it is free in the business owners mine rather than several days later.
- We can move from being the recorder of transactions into a more consultative role of helping our clients understand their finances better and sooner.
- Write-up work for tax preparation
