Red Hat Decision Manager Review: "JBoss BRMS, you'll need time to master it"

We used JBoss BRMS as a rule engine to keep centralized the business rules that can be applied for one of our clients and to have the ability to change them in real-time without needing to recompile or release new source code.
  • Supports continuous delivery
  • It can be used by business analysts
  • Smooth integration with jBPM and the ability to integrate within a custom app if that's needed
  • The UI could be better
  • It takes time to understand how it works and how to create rules
  • Better documentation would be appreciated
If the rules are going to be managed by IT people JBoss BRMS is good enough, if you're looking for a tool that will be used only by business analysts, you'll probably like to find for another BRMS

As an SOA consultant, I have worked on projects where the client was not very technical and wanted to write their business rules quickly and in a language that was understandable and easy. He also wanted to be autonomous in the creation of his business rules and in the automation of their deployment.
  • Real-time decision making
  • business experts and developers can collaborate using the same solution
  • The ability to use Git as repository
  • I do not know of any.
It allows you to create business rules in simple language, which enables real-time decision-making and complex treatment of events. Users minimize the need to write business rules directly into code, avoiding update and maintainability issues.
