We are currently using Red Hat JBoss EAP for the application server layer. It is mainly used by the Java developers in the company.
  • It is easy to install.
  • Easy scalability.
  • Makes Java applications run fast.
  • Usability is not that great.
  • User interface could be improved.
  • Price.
Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application is a top choice for JEE applications. Usability is not great (documentation avalilable, though), but installation and deployment are straightforward.

We currently use it as our application server for our Web application across the whole organization. It is our current web container to deploy our application.
  • Easy configuration and setup to deploy multiple web applications.
  • Easy automated deployments.
  • Supports the latest standards for Web Development.
  • It's a bit slow to deploy once started.
  • It's not as lightweight as say Tomcat.
We currently use JBoss because of the compatibility to J2EE and because currently we use EJB's.

  • We have multiple instances of the App Server which is a bit costly because we use multiple servers to run.
We selected JBoss because of compatibility with EJB's. We currently are trying to reduce our footprint and will highly consider using Tomcat.
I have not found a need to use their support since most issues are found online.
