It simplifies the process of drafting, and 3D modeling in a way that's amazing, plus the features it has are endless. For example, you can work in different views at the time. Also, you can have a live section, in such any update you do in the layout, will be automatically reflected on the section. You can enter information about any material/object you use in a project and then get cost analysis/other data by doing so. In some places, it is mandatory for the public sector projects to use BIM software, and working with a team is definitely easier, as many people can work on the same file and then update it without interfering with someone else's work. When you're starting to learn and adapt to the software it is useful that you can customize its platform. You can save templates so any time you start a project you'll have the same text font, arrow style, layouts, etc.
  • HVAC Design.
  • Infrastructure Work.
  • 3D Pipework.
  • Calculating heating and cooling loads easily.
  • For new users, it will be quite complex hence recommending a more friendly user interface.
  • It opens slowly when you are working on a heavy file.
If you are planning to do a small-mid-sized project with great presentation tools for your client, then Revit is the best and optimum tool to guarantee satisfying results. As such the client can imagine how the final work on-site will be in order to reduce time spent commodification and by default increasing the profit and reducing the effort. Also, if there is a big team working on a certain project, then they can easily and efficiently use this program in such any update would be reflected and they can notice any change which allows collaboration.

Revit is being used as a firm wide standard for every project. In general it acts as the primary location for storing empirical information about each project. We have been using Revit for many years and we see a lot of repeat business so in many cases we end up upgrading and re-using Revit models from over a decade ago. As we get into documentation, Revit also acts as our collaborative platform where architects, MEP engineers, and structural engineers are able to see each others up to date work and coordinate accordingly. Also to state the obvious, everything is BIM and makes it really great to be able to document three dimensional buildings from two dimensional points of view.
  • associates parameters with elements in the model that can be shared, scheduled, measured, and referred to.
  • leverages BIM elements for smart tagging (material tags, keynotes, glass types, etc.)
  • construction documents. it is the king of documentation in my opinion.
  • Revit has room for improvement in the modeling area. everything you model is "workplane based" meaning it needs to have some origin on a workplane. while workplanes can be at obscure angles and such it makes it difficult to sometimes quickly model things that other, more geometric based software can hammer out in 5 minutes. One example i can think of is a simple handrail that is curved in both elevation and plan simultaneously. this would be very easy to do in Rhino via sweeping, but in Revit not so much because the curving geometry passes through and transcends multiple "workplanes"
  • i think the site components could use an overhaul. it would be great to be able to add sidewalks and stuff to toposurfaces easier.
Revit is king of documentation. it allows collaboration via cloud or server and holds a high level of efficiency for those who master it. While it may lack in modeling, other software can help out and easily be imported into the Revit model space to be documented in Revit. Over the past few years I have seen a dramatic interoperability jump for Revit, meaning it reads imported geometry quite well. It also is really nice for the CA phase of design because it has a built in smart revision system.

I and my team have used Revit on a trial and hit basis to explore the tool's functionality. The sole reason was gaining a deep knowledge of Building Information Modelling (BIM) in a more collaborative environment and Revit fits perfectly. This digital design software has helped our students to gain insights into structural designing in a collaborative manner.
  • Differentiating 2D and 3D designing.
  • Realistic visualizations that relate to real-world applications.
  • Repository of design elements to plug and play.
  • The application is not intuitive and while editing it can be a tedious task as most of the perspectives are isometric.
  • Integration with 3 party elements can be an added feature.
  • Rendering process is slow and can be made little quick.
  • For every section there can be a tutorial link on how to use this feature.
The best suited environment for Revit is where the design has to be turned around within a few days or weeks. As the application has collaborative features other users can also use it. For me, it is best suited for shop drawings or simple building designs.

Revit is used by all of our organizations. Everybody uses Revit. We are creating and designing the 3D Model of multiple buildings in our organization. I'm using Revit to create the 3D model for mayo groups hospital in ARIZONA. I'm working with a team of 25 people and Revit gives us the real-time syncing function to help us to divide the work.
  • Real time syncing function help us to work multiple people on single file.
  • The Revit link option helps us to link the other Revit file in the background and help create the model.
  • The family creation in Revit with the setting of various parameters. The parametric family is a good thing
  • The Worksets method which help us in the differentiate in various services.
  • Phase fitters this feature provides us to create models in their phase ex exiting phase, new construction.
  • Inference check option can be better this doesn't allow us to coordination.
  • The rendering process take to much of the time.
  • Revit lacked in accuracy This give the result which some time are not accurate.
To create a 3D model of building and coordinating their services and making clash-free model. Clash-free model helps on-site so Revit is well suited for Modeling and coordinating. Creating the assembly in Revit and spooling process of Revit without the plug-in is very difficult and Revit is not suitable for Revit.

  • Revit is used by our architectural design team to create an optimum model that all departments and trades can use to complete their work like structural team uses for load and stability of the structure, MEP department uses for pressure and electrical appliances fitting, estimation department and management department uses these architectural drawings for the purpose of evaluating cost and managing schedule.
  • we generally used revit for various purposes but some of them are very useful for cut down our precious time
  • (a) templates which can I used from its predefined library so that my time gets reduced so much in arranging doors, windows and others furniture in no time and you can also render it at any time
  • (b)revit is it works on different layout level like you can create a series of sub layout in it and can see their effect combinedly after creating individually for example: if you creates some structure in first layout section then you can see it in 3D and in any elevation also without creating in other levels so it will make my job faster
  • (c) we generally solve problems which I faced using the same file by different architects on the same worksheet making it best fit to customer
  • Determining the cost of the material you are using in your structural project after selecting your wall and paint you are using in your structure, AutoCAD - Quantity take-offs are now byproducts of the building model so that you can find the optimum cost of your project
  • Rendring is the second best thing that REVIT can provide in such a convenient way without lagging the system so that we can show a realistic view to our clients of what we want to serve them.
  • For the fresher it will provide complete guidance if you are a student you can make your free account and learn from their video tutorial so that you can learn their all features customization in lesser time
  • You cant save a file to lower versions of the software i.e A Revit 2017 file can only be opened in Revit version 2017 or higher. That file cannot be opened in Revit 2015 software. Backwards compatibility would be great to have, just like some other Autodesk products example AutoCAD.
  • Rendering is also good but missing DYNAMIC RENDERING as it posses in some others software of its domain like in LUMION pro
  • In my view it has also some price high so it gets not as much popularity it should be
  • It must possess some troubleshooter option if someone failed to load its library of items then it will reinstall automatically without showing any error as I think most of the users suffers this problem which primarily not having a Revit experience
  • It does also allow for some means of previewing a building during design. Effectively a virtual prototype. To show appearance and functionality. Things like 3d views help people who can’t imagine a physical shape from just orthogonal views to see problems and solutions. Things like rendering and walkthroughs (like with the enscape addon) also help to show an impression of the final building to more easily explain to a client what they’re going to get.
  • It’s able to handle multiple people drawing on the same model at any one time. Its method of allowing this is to “check out” elements through its borrowing functionality in the worksets. This has its own issues though, e.g. if you’re drawing a wall that wants to attach to another which someone else has “checked out” there’s a fail message and both parties need to synchronize their models (effectively saving and reloading).
  • In REVIT you should have a backup copy of your model because that very same person who deleted it didn’t even notice the stuff they also deleted - it wasn’t displayed in their drawing. They’ve saved the file and there’s now no longer an “undo” function.
  • Its method of reusing fully complete model portions (groups) is a complete waste of time. They keep breaking, they never work as expected, and can cause such frustration as to induce screen abuse.

Revit is used as a service tool by my organization which provides mechanical engineering services to clients. Revit is a tool to create 3d model of HVAC model, plumbing model, architecture model and structural steel frame model. The above can be simulated in a real-time environment such as sunlight, construction site consideration etc
  • 3d space creativity
  • Economical
  • Issues are targeted before construction of any building
  • Some options of revit are stubborn which can be used for some limited application
  • Revit uses a lot of computer memory
  • To automatically backup your file with certain time interval
Revit is more user-friendly compared to other software it helped on projects where I need to switch between 2d space to 3d space, sections of elements or building can be viewed easily.
It is difficult to create 3d family or any equipment. Sometimes Revit decides whether the two entities will be connected or not as if in practical purpose the entities are connected.

Revit is used on an as-needed, per client request, basis in our studio. Other studios within our company use it more regularly, and every studio uses or has used it to my knowledge. Revit is our BIM software of choice, as it is the most robust and the most similar to AutoCAD.
  • 3d modeling for simple to mid-complexity geometries is fairly easily achieved where AutoCAD they are not.
  • Initial drawing set development is much easier when working in one file rather than CAD software.
  • Design revisions throughout the design process are done live in the model and universally have to affect on the drawings.
  • Drawing set graphics may be too simple for some users used to full control.
  • Initial file setup is better but still could be more straight forward.
  • Customization with many of the design tools is not very intuitive.
  • Schematic design development is not what the software is designed for.
Revit is well suited for straight forward buildings of decent scope and not much time or complication in their initial design phases. It is not meant to be a design tool so much as a design documentation tool that allows your building to live in 3d and be developed and revised as such.

Revit is currently used by our Virtual Design & Construction, Operations, and Estimating Departments at a mid-size to large general contracting company. Our Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) uses Revit for BIM coordination, 3D/4D Logistics Planning, Pointcloud scanning and Analysis, rendering, and more. Our Estimating department uses it for takeoffs, value engineering, and budgeting. Operations bridge the gap between departments and use it for odds and ends throughout the construction administration process.

  • Drawing History/Updates
  • BIM Coordination
  • Logistics Planning
  • User Interface
  • Creative Design Abilities
  • Cost/Access
Revit is a must-have in the Architecture, Engineering and Construction industry these days on any type of commercial project. Revit has taken the throne from AutoCAD as the leading design software and is universally used by designers, engineers, builders, and subcontractors. Revit is a potent tool when it is in the right hands.

The entire organization is using Revit under various departments for production and CAD support. Various disciplines such as Mechanical, Plumbing, Electrical, Fire Protection, Fire Alarm, and Technology use it for creating drawings for construction solving the problem of multiple discipline coordination and 3-D viewer for various disciplines organization-wide.
  • Multiple discipline coordination
  • Multiple people opening and working in the same model at the same time
  • 3-D viewing
  • Slower operation
  • Importing CAD
  • Slower synchronization
Revit is well suited for applications that require multiple disciplines under one single model. Different sheets can be created for various disciplines, and all the families can be viewed by anyone having access to the model. It is less suited for applications that have fewer components and simple design and single discipline.

We now use Revit for almost every project from schematic design through construction administration. The firm previously used MicroStation for 2D CAD and some 3D BIM. Revit simplifies project document organization and keeps multiple drawings up-to-date simultaneously. Our consultants also use Revit, which allows for easy updates and complex visibility controls. We do not yet use BIM360, which I understand would make coordination even simpler.
We typically have a separate SketchUp model for design studies and renderings because 3D modeling in Revit is still cumbersome and inflexible. In some cases, the parametric features of Revit make simple changes into complicated headaches. Proper education for all users is critical because there are many pitfalls in Revit that are then synced back to the shared model.
  • Documentation and organization.
  • Central model syncing, multiple simultaneous users.
  • Updates all drawings at once, cross-referencing.
  • 3D modeling flexibility, speed, and view options.
  • Duplicate sheets without plugin, and views on multiple sheets (especially design options).
  • More view organization options, by custom folder instead of view type.
Revit is the best tool I have used to document a project, especially synchronizing design changes between drawings, organizing sheets, coordinating with consultants, and complex phasing. It is less suited to design studies (prefer a more flexible 3d modeling tool like SketchUp) and graphic presentations (still need to export to Indesign for most presentations).

  • We use it to analyze how buildings will perform before construction begins, develop better quality designs, and improve project delivery.
  • It helps us understand the complex design and construction process. With the help of Revit we are able to understand the complexity of our construction design.
  • This software is only used by our engineering design group. With the help of Revit we are able to do our planning process faster, and we can design and understand different future aspects which will appear during the construction period.
  • Help us develop better quality designs
  • Improve project delivery
  • Help us understand the odds of construction
  • Very costly
  • It requires trained people to use this software.
  • For example, before this software, we could only imagine the building design on paper. Now, with the help of this beautiful software we are able to visualize building design before it's built.
  • I remember when me and my team were working on our first project before this software. Our faulty design cost us extra money. After that, we adopted the use of Revit, and we can now analyze our design before we even start our construction.
  • It allow complex building structures to be accurately designed and documented in a short amount of time which helps us save so much money.

Revit is used by our design department to create construction documents and it is also used by our construction department for coordination and spool drawings. We have been using it for about 10 years. It has really streamlined our coordination. It is a huge advantage to have the entire architectural and structural model reside (Linked) in your design model.
  • The ability to have the architectural and structural models linked to your own design model is a big advantage.
  • Modeling risers and shafts is much easier now compared to the old AutoCAD days.
  • A combination of design and construction tools gives Revit the edge in Design software.
  • The text editor is not as robust as AutoCAD.
Revit is the perfect design and construction software. The intuitive nature of the software makes it a great design tool. In the construction world, we use it with Trimble SysQue and it is powerful. Our designers have all of the information at their fingertips. Modeling shafts is much easier than it was compared to AutoCAD. It is the same with sleeves and cores.

We are a mechanical contractor located in the midwest that uses Revit in our BIM department for coordination of new and/or existing structures. Revit allows us to model our piping systems and to coordinate with other trades in order to mitigate problems in the office and avoid finding them out in the field.
  • Revit is the basis of our design software workflow.
  • Revit does not crash nearly as often as softwares that were used in the past.
  • Revit is GREAT for collaboration.
  • Revit continues to get better with every release.
Revit is great software for anything construction related. We use some add-ons that help enhance what we are capable of doing with the software but Revit is where it all starts for our design and coordination work. I use it every day. I also teach apprentices how to use the software at an apprenticeship school. Right now, it is definitely the software to use over any other.

Revit is used at my company to do full BIM modeling of MEPFR systems in buildings for production of construction drawings and for coordination of building design with Architects and Structural Engineers.
  • Revit is great for pointing out clashes between systems in a building.
  • Revit is great at increasing production speed by allowing the integration of third-party tools.
  • Revit is a great visual tool in the industry.
  • Scheduling in Revit can be tricky and frustrating. I'd love to see more tools to make it easier.
  • Revit on servers can spotty and slow down production.
  • Copying from project to project can be improved to be more compatible
Revit is well suited for firms trying to increase production speed in developing well-coordinated building designs. It is best utilized where there are several systems designs going on in a project, and it gets even better with larger size projects. It may not be the best choice for smaller footprint projects or remodels, since project set up may take more time than actual production work.

We use Revit for the design of our architectural projects. It is being used on a project-by-project basis based on what the owner is wanting. Revit's 3D Application allows us to solve problems in design that normally wouldn't be caught until construction. It forces you do design based on how things are actually built instead of just making it look good on construction documents.
  • Sections - The initial design is a fully-drawn building so creating a section is simply slicing the building at the location you want to view.
  • Families - Families are items like a door, window, desk, chair drawn in 3D. Picture a doll house with a bunch of furniture. You select the family you need and place it in the same way you would in a physical doll house.
  • Dimensions - Dimensions in Revit have been very simplified compared to its competitors. It's very logical and intuitive.
  • The text editor has its issues.
  • Creating and managing materials is very complicated.
  • The software is very computer-taxing. You will need a monster gaming computer depending on how detailed your central model is.
If you have projects that are one-offs, it's still faster to draw a building in Revit than it is other CAD software. Where you really save money and time is when you are dealing with projects that work off of a criteria template, or for instance a high rise or apartment complex or manufactured homes where you are creating the same type of building over and over again.

In my current role as a general contractor office, I utilize Revit to view and access the design intent models from architects, and engineers. Our department has about half a dozen people and we also create supplemental models to provide additional useful information for 3D coordination. Previously, I worked for a design consultant where I prepared construction documents for commercial and private businesses, as well as private residences. In my previous job, the drafting/modeling department was just me with two to three other engineers.
  • Unified modeling (actual objects rather than lines)
  • Decent out-of-the-box templates.
  • Basic Rendering
  • The ability for multiple people to work together on one model.
  • Ballooning of file size, and error management
  • Inability to save to the previous version
Revit really is the industry standard for design software, at least for the United States. There are other platforms out there but you run into compatibility issues when trying to work across other software types. It's great for anything like home design, light commercial, large hospitality, or healthcare type buildings.

Check is a software that is used as part of the knowledge of the area in that work. This design tool allows us with professional services. We create a work team to distribute the tasks because of the magnitude of the work we do here. It also allows us to obtain good results in terms of 3D drawings.
  • With Revit the projects that are elaborated have higher quality.
  • The effects in 3D are unique.
  • You can edit, save, and upload old files.
  • It is compatible with other design tools.
  • The design palettes are very complex.
  • The finished product does not allow sharing with other tools.
  • The updates can not be seen.
I merit changing equipment to advance and improve our services with the use of this tool within the organization. The technical support that develops is more advanced than our devices and for some reason the memory is consumed in the use of this tool. Therefore we add extra memory to correct those design details and virtual capacity.

At Korsmo Construction, we use Revit to create fabrication level structural models to validate design and create drawings and models which are used for estimating, constructability review, drawings and layout data for all self -performed scopes of work. The act of modeling closely simulates the act of building; if you cannot model it due to a lack of information, you cannot build it. This often finds errors and omissions from the design team and solves issues before they present themselves in the field. Our VDC department is the currently the only department that models in Revit, however, there are a few in the organization that can utilize it by simply opening up design teams models and analyze for design intent and reference.
  • 3D Models - It's kind of a no brainer, but the key benefit of Revit is its ability to model in 3D. It's a somewhat complex modeling environment, however, it's not impossible to learn and I have seen users from a range of abilities to effectively model content in Revit.
  • Schedules - 3D is great, but the ability to quantify your geometry is contains valuable data if modeled correctly. If you model how you will build it, Revit has the ability to give very accurate schedules which includes quantities, and any data you would like to incorporate into your model.
  • Industry Standard - Revit is the industry standard. With that being said, it really help to use software that is compatible with other agencies for collaborative model review.
  • Versioning - Revit is not backwards compatible. This creates issues if you are working with people who are using older versions as you cannot save to a previous version. I understand why this is and I do not see this ever changing, however, Its very annoying.
  • Autodesk - They are the 800 pound gorilla in the industry. The lack of competition inhibits development and it seems Autodesk has put more effort into its BIM 360 platform and Revit development has suffered because of it. I would like to see better competition so Autodesk would step up its game.
Revit is primarily a 3D modeling/documentation authoring platform. That's what it should be used for. It does have the capability to do multiple model coordination review but it's not stellar. Navisworks Manage is a much better platform when collaborating with outside parties.

We use Revit to build the 3D models and perform the estimates of all the construction projects. Also, we use it to send the isometric models to the project management team so they can build the takeoff with the drawings of AutoCAD and the 3D models of Revit. We use it every day to mark up the changes on every construction model for condos, townhouses and custom lots.
  • For 3D rendering it's just the best option in the market, the library can take your model to the next level.
  • It has a magnificent library of preset objects, you can download families of libraries into a project or save them externally.
  • The auto desk drive gives you the chance to securely store, preview, and share your 2D and 3D design data using data storage designed for individuals and small teams. Turning on your projects into collaborative resource tools all your Revit models will be stored in the and cloud ready for your team.
  • Revit is mainly focused on structural design, this can take it into a way far complex level that will require specialized training.
  • It has an odd & difficult perspective editing because Revit isn’t the easiest software to use if you want to work on building interiors from a different perspective.
  • It's not popular among other Auto Desk tools. Revit fans are going to always choose AutoCAD, since it has a lack of familiarity that means that it doesn’t yet have the same support community built around it that some other software packages have.
  • Its BIM component is not very popular and the companies sometimes get shy about it. This will also have an impact on the total cost of ownership. Revit isn't cheap.
  • If you start using it now, you’ll be ahead of the curve. You may need the proper training tool set to get the most from this great application.
For construction detailed projects where the estimates matter the most, Revit can help you out to set every single complex detail, giving you the chance to obtain better results and the most realistic 3D model, with measures, textures, and precise square feet. Will also allow you to test and preview materials using its vast library.

Revit for Architects

Autodesk Revit is being used by the organization in the construction and project department. It addresses the problems related to quantities and takeoff. We are mainly a construction company, so we recreate the projects plans in great detail to get accurate quantities list that we link to an estimate to get the final budget for the construction projects. For any changes we change the model, which is easy to do, and it will automatically refresh all the final pricing related to the quantities.
  • Easy and friendly to architect, it is software developed specially for architects.
  • Creates very detailed quantities sheet, drawing plans and documentation and everything is linked to the 3d models, so there is no place to make a mistake. If you make a good model everything else will just work fine and detailed.
  • You can develop a entire project from the very beginning starting from scratch with a mass model to develop the design, and then you can take it a step further and add details like walls, windows, doors, roof, floors and materials to set it to a final project for construction.
  • You can also do high quality renderings and you can implement 3rd party renderers like Vray from ChaosGroup.
  • You can collaborate so you can have a complete office working on a same project with the worksharing features.
  • Really there is no missing functionality, but the internal rendering engine can be improved to match something similar like vray without the need to purchase Vray also.
  • There are some functions that make some confusion like the curtain walls always attached to another wall if they are in contact, but once you understand the software you will know that you need to disable the join feature so the curtain wall will not attach to near walls.
  • The parametric features and components that offers a lot of power and creative possibilities are difficult to use, will be great if it possible to make this easy to understand to most people.
revit is well suited for every scenario, when you need speed and accuracy, because the most of the work relies on the 3d model which needs to be done once and can be done in collaboration if you like. You can collaborate on the cloud, and after you have the model completed, making the plans and elevations is just as easy as dragging and dropping to an also easy to create drawing sheet, so you can make a project of any scale at a glance.

Revit is our primary design tool for creating construction documents. It is used on 100% of our projects and all of the departments use it. The main problems Revit addressed was the turn around time for drafting buildings. Since Revit is a design tool and not a drafting tool. The process from idea to finished documents has shortened.
  • Real time collaboration between design teams. With the ability to have multiple users in one file. The coordination between team members is more effective.
  • embedded information about the parts and pieces of a building. With shared parameters associated with every component in a Revit model the team is able to convey the design better.
  • Family Management. Revit organizes the parts and pieces (or families as they are called in Revit) in a logical manner with categories. This allows the users to better control visibility of parts and helps with quality control for the construction documents.
  • Visibility control in views. Between the categories, view ranges, filters, worksets, and detail level you can basically make anything look the way you want it to look.
  • Text. This is the biggest issue Revit has. It handles text boxes horribly. Though release Revit 2017 has made improvements to this issue, the program still has a long way to go to get to good text box.
  • Applying materials to components. This process is a difficult and clunky process.
  • Aligning to a shared coordinate system. Despite all the training and info videos, this is still one the most difficult things to master in Revit.
It is well suited in situations where you have a large team working on a building at once. Or when multiple design teams are collaborating on a design of a space and taking the design all the way through construction. Some areas that Revit is weak in is planning and general schematics. It does not handle any form of schematic by nature design well, the program only works well for literal design. If you are doing a planning only exercise or any form of one line diagrams a different program would be better.

Revit is used by our firm to generate drawings and renderings for a client as they have hired us to design their building. This program allows us to keep all of our drawings in one file while allowing us to link in consultant models so that we can coordinate design issues.
  • Revit's organization abilities are second to none as we are able to organize a set of drawings a particular way.
  • Revit also allows us to work in 3D so we can really analyze problems that originate with in the design community.
  • I think Revit causes the designer to lose some design intent based on the rigid drawings components that don't offer much flexibility.
  • Revit also creates a file size problem, the more detail you add, the more complex your model becomes and thus creating a slower model.
Revit is well suited during the construction document phase as you are generally coordinating with other industries such as mechanical, electrical and plumbing. We are able to link in their models so that we can see where we have clashes. I think it is less appropriate at the beginning programming and layout phases.

Revit is primarily used within the VDC department in our organization. We use it for a variety of different things such as building a model in Revit and taking it into Navisworks to do BIM/MEP coordination, utilizing it for small design projects or, or just utilizing its 3D capabilities to better explain a project to a client or partner on the project.
  • It does a great job of creating a smart model where the plans/elevations/sections are all linked to the 3D model.
  • It has the ability to do rendering straight out of the program.
  • Being able to link to other models as well as there being a library of models out there to import into your own.
  • Sometimes can be hard to do some finishing details and modify your model in custom ways.
  • When making actual details/there is much more work to be done after cutting the section.
  • The renderings turn out good if you know what you're doing but can take a long time to do.
Revit is great for explaining things to someone who has a hard time visualizing 3D. You can build your model using the 2D feature as well as the 3D and in the end, you're able to produce a nice model that can be used for many different things such as putting together construction documents or just showing some isometric views of the model.

As Revit becomes more sophisticated not only in 3D modeling, but materials and project management, the Architect - Engineering communities are becoming more inclined towards working with manufacturers who can comply to their technological demands. If you're seeking to stay ahead of your competition, contractors and manufacturers alike realize they need to invest in new BIM technologies such as Revit to gain an edge.
  • Information Developed Instantly - Imported Materials from Manufacturers populates in schedule which allows for easy planning/ordering.
  • Information Developed Instantly - While you're building a 3D model, elevations and sections are created in parallel making you work efficiently many times over.
  • Sophisticated Building Information - Several Iterations of Building Feasibility Study each in regards to Structure or Environmental areas.
  • General Excellence in Data Categories and Building Features. For example, adding more compliance features for environmental construction demand. Changes in compliance should be built into new versions.
  • Adding more plugins for products. Autodesk Seek is OK but really need a plugin built into the system which updates itself when the database changes. The database should be a cloud database. Such a sophisticated software should have something more than just a link to a page to download products manually.
  • At times, it's difficult to model with some strange snaps being pre-selected or simple drawing features limiting you.
Construction Companies, Contractors, Engineers, Architects, Product Manufacturers, and anyone involved with the construction community should have some level of working knowledge with Revit. The best advice I can share is for leaders in any of the above businesses to become involved in training and implementing Revit into standard work. Those who already have integrated Revit can always learn new ways to optimize their processes by attending seminars, webinars, or contacting Autodesk (whom is a fantastic resource).
