Pretty good, but could use some help with user experience
I was not involved in selecting ion interactive, but would like to see other tools with an easier user interface.
I haven't had a lot of experience with templated CMS systems and was not involved in the original selection, though I was part of the renewal discussions. Most of the templates I've used have been html and created in house on an as-needed bases.

Interacting with Ions
- Unbounce and Optimizely
It works well for A/B testing and data collection. Additionally, our Salesforce integration is critical for our team. With Ion Interactive, we are able to reliably retain all lead information, and pass it into Salesforce. This includes UTM information as well as proprietary ID information for paid search bid optimization tools. For us, it comes down to reliably getting the data into our system so our representatives can contact our leads.

Great content marketing tool
There are endless ways to make your content interactive and personalized in Ion Interactive. My organization switched from another content creation tool to Ion and although the learning curve is quite high, we've all been enjoying the experience and execution on Ion more than its main competitor.

When I chose ion, my alternative was to have developers build what I was envisioning. Just two tools I wanted were going to cost me $50k to build. With ion I was able to create those, plus dozens of other tools.
Early on when I started using ion, another division had just started using another interactive tool. A year later they had scrapped that arrangement and transitioned over to ion. They found that ion just offered more breadth of features.

Tool for interactive digital publications
I was not involved in selecting the product.
Honestly these are different products. Other web platforms, are built to create a website. However this is meant for rapid content creation of landing pages. A user lands on the page, does a desired action (fills out a form, clicks a button, etc) and then they are done. Also A/B testing is built into ion where other platforms, it is an after thought and usually something that has to be carefully constructed.

Ion Gets It Done.
SnapApp was a decent platform, but it was a bit limited in what we could do with it and it was challenging from an Eloqua-integration perspective regarding accessing our customers' answers.
One of the things that drew us to Ion versus SnapApp was the advanced metrics and higher-level capability with Eloqua.

Ion is a Great Value Product
Compared to Adobe's products, I prefer ion. However, Optimizely is slightly more intuitive to use than ion, but the value comes in big savings over Optimizely's prices.

Great tool for media landing pages
ion is in a different league than other well-known landing page providers. They deal with many large organizations and their landing pages feel more professional than competitors. The key piece in my decision to move forward with them was their customer support and tool knowledge. We could hop on the phone with someone on the technical team and get outstanding questions answered. They were willing to work with us and get us training access ahead of time. Overall, a great experience.

Easy to learn - lots of functionality
There are obviously other platforms out there that do more or less in different capacities. Platforms like Marketo are more user-friendly in places and have more marketing automation functionality, but fewer features and functionality for landing page creation. Whereas platforms like Sitecore allow for the creation of more robust, larger, commercial websites, but are more complex and often require the assistance of developers and specialists.

The ion interactive just offers so many more options for customization. You can make the pages you create truly beautiful. Act-On has worked well for simple, straightforward pages and emails, but it ultimately just cannot accomplish the same results as ion without the use of an experienced, hard-core coding wizard (and even then, the Act-On program isn't built necessarily for code...). Plus, the customer experience between Act-On and Ion was night and day--from the training materials to the technical help to the onboarding representatives and other staff--it felt like almost everything with Act-On was a headache. And things with Ion have gone much much more smoothly.
