Rockset has provided companies with a reliable solution to their database and analytics needs, leading to an increase in productivity and work efficiency. Particularly, users have found that Rockset's implementation process is straightforward, even for those who are not experienced in this field. From experimental apps built for in-store operations to logging and accessing data about the abiotic environment, users have been able to carry out their work without any technical hassles.

The ability to conduct advanced analytics reporting around geospatial data and generate real-time analytics and data views through operational and sales dashboards has also been a significant benefit for users. Those who have outgrown their previous databases like Mongo have found scalability and profitability using Rockset. Users can utilize fast reads and writes with Mongo while conducting more complicated queries with Rockset concurrently. Overall, Rockset's SQL-style queries have eased the user experience in terms of generating faster reports and analytics during complex data set analysis, as mentioned by reviewers, customers, and users.

Real-time analytics: Users have praised Rockset for its real-time analytics, which enables fast queries and structured as well as semi-structured database data building in real-time. Many reviewers found this feature helpful and efficient for processing and storing data in the cloud.

Automatic shard distribution: Several users have appreciated the automatic shard distribution feature of Rockset that allows teams to scale without any manual intervention. This makes it easy to query without defining data schema in the early stages of product development.

Excellent customer support: Reviewers have commended Rockset's customer support team for being responsive and helpful, even for minor paid plans. They appreciated that the team was available to set up calls, give advice on integration, and reply to all their queries promptly.

Lack of psql shell: Some users have expressed dissatisfaction with Rockset due to the lack of a shell like psql in the product, as they found it inconvenient to not have access to such a feature.

Complicated query lambda process: Several users have reported that creating a query lambda and separately adding it in Retool is a bit of a pain, suggesting that this could be improved for better user experience.

Dedicated instances only: A few users have noted that Rockset's approach of only having dedicated instances seems old-fashioned compared to auto-scaling up and down to meet requirements, leaving room for improvement.

It is actually at the core of our product billing. Since ours is a usage based product, it is easy to ingest data from a CDP, write queries to get the required numbers, and build a workflow around those queries to bill our customers.
Additionally, the same workflows are used to expose the same data to our customers' dashboard for transparency.
  • Fast ingest and real-time indexing
  • Complex SQL queries run really fast
  • Lower cost in terms of deployment.
  • User interface
  • AI in queries, auto-generated queries
  • Graphing tools
1. Usage based billing - helpful in creating query lambdas and workflow around them.
2. Fast data refresh and scheduled running of queries is required.
3. Wherever real-time data is in play in terms of visibility.
  • Faster query and search
  • Query lambdas and workflow building
  • Helpful in bringing together multiple datasets from different sources
