Sage Timeslips Review

Our law firm uses Sage Timeslips for our firm's billing and to keep track of payments we have received. The staff uses Timeslips to enter clients' information for new matters, running reports, entering payments and sending out bills. The paralegals and attorneys use Sage Timeslips to enter their billing for cases. Timeslips allows us to determine how much has been billed for our cases for affidavits we have to file for our cases.
  • Timeslips makes it easy to open new matters.
  • It is easy to enter firm billing and expenses into Timeslips.
  • It is easy to determine how much has been billed for specific cases.
  • It is easy to run pre-bills and to finalize billing.
  • Timeslips has good customer service for when there are specific questions or issues.
  • Timeslips needs a "select all" button for transferring time over from eCenter so each entry does not have to be individually checked off to transfer time to Timeslips.
  • The reports feature is confusing and we sometimes have issues running specific reports.
  • eCenter should allow staff and attorneys to review their prior billing even after the time and expenses have been transferred over to Timeslips.
Sage Timeslips is well suited for law firms that do their own billing, need to run reports on their billing, and help keep track of clients. I believe Timeslips could be used by any professional company. I cannot think of any scenarios where Sage Timeslips would be less appropriate to use.
  • It's easy to open new matters.
  • It is easy to run pre-bills and to finalize bills.
  • It is easy to enter payments.
  • It allows us to run reports.
  • It helps us keep track of how much clients have paid.
  • It helps us determine how much money clients still owe us.
  • It allows us to do our own firm's billing.
A law firm I previously worked at used ProLaw to enter our firm's billing, sending out bills and doing reports. I only entered time using ProLaw, so I cannot go into much detail about it. However, Sage Timeslips can do a lot more than ProLaw, and it is a lot easier to enter new cases, enter time and expenses and run reports compared to ProLaw.

Sage Timeslips is being used across the board by our law firm. We enter time for both attorneys and staff, create and send invoices, and send reports to the insurance companies we work for. Timeslips is a convenient tool for reports, billing, record keeping, etc. for our firm. I personally enter time for the 3 attorneys in our firm and 2 staff members.
  • Ease of entering time information. You can create nicknames or shortcuts so you don't have to reenter the same info over and over.
  • You can assign a number to each of your employees and each number can have a separate billing rate.
  • Reports are easy to create with any information you specify.
  • It could be a bit more "user-friendly" by having a tips or help area to click on.
  • It is a bit costly on start up and you still have to pay for upgrades.
If your organization needs to report to clients or other departments on a regular basis, then Sage Timeslips will help you create those reports. It contains all the client data you want it to, time spent for that client and every invoice ever created for that client. You can easily open a new client, close or suspend that client, and then open it again if necessary just with one click.
  • The most positive effect it has had on our firm is that when we need to report to our insurance companies what work we've done for their clients, it's an easy few clicks to get the information we need to fulfill their request.
Neither Chrome River or QuickBooks have the same functionality as Timeslips. I have used both programs and Timeslips is by far the better choice.
I have not had to use Timeslips support, but I know our Office Manager has had to use them from time to time. She reports that they are quite helpful, but are always suggesting we purchase an upgrade to our current program.

Our law firm uses Sage Timeslips to keep track of our billable hours and invoice our clients. It has been a great tool to ease the billing process and track our Accounts Receivable. We also chose this system as it provided a way for all our associates, in various offices, to log in and input their time without the software installed on their computers.
  • Ability to track time easily across the firm.
  • Ability to create codes enabling consistent descriptions of services and less painful data entry.
  • Ability to design invoices per the clients request and export the billing data into systems such as CounselLink for our clients.
  • The extraction of data to load into another data base is not as easy as one would like and requires quite a bit of setup.
  • We have run into a few issues with importing slips from the cloud based system into the physical system to generate bills.
The system has streamlined our billing process and made tracking our accounts receivable and billable time easy.
  • Sage Timeslips has enabled our firm to manage a variety of users across various offices to streamline our billing process.
  • The ability to customize the system to meet our clients billing guidelines and various billing systems is a huge benefit for us.
  • Sage Timeslips allows our firm to have consistency and easy tracking of billable time to ensure we are meeting our quotas.

The attorneys in the firm use Sage Timeslips to track all billable time and expenses for all clients. It is also used to send monthly bills, tack payments, monitor receivables and provide collection statistics for the firm.
  • TimeSlips doesn't crash, doesn't lose data, backs-up easily; facilitates accurate reports showing funds received, accounts receivable, trust fund balances and billing/collection statistics.
  • I would like to see web access so that I am not limited to access only via my primary computer.
  • I would like the program to be more intuitive with self-correcting verbiage.
  • When inputting multiple data for one client, I'd like the program to be more intuitive by self filling or having the option to self fill the biller's name, the service and the client fields.
Easy program to learn, easy to set up, easy to enter data, never crashes, easy to send invoices by email, easy to track receipts, easy to apply payments, and easy to send updated and accurate invoices. It took the fear and worry out of setting up and running a solo practice.
  • Over the years it has been worth its weight in gold - huge return over cost
  • The biggest negative occurred within the past year in that one was required to acquire an annual license raising the annual cost, but not to the point where it becomes cost ineffective.
Timeslips has won the day due to its consistency, reliability, and ease of use. The others are cloud-based - a feature I'd like, but the learning curve has proven to be too time-consuming to justify the switch.
