Business One is used daily at our facility. We use it to manage our inventory and others that we have at other locations. It handles all internal orders and billing as well as streamlining our processes.
  • Relationship Maps - showing us the process from start to finish in one screen is helpful
  • Holding people accountable as their name is attached to each process they do
  • Easy to Bill and Pay our customers and vendors
  • Reporting is very clearly designed for maximum clarity
  • Not easy enough to customize other reports that come up as being needed
  • Training myself and my staff at time of implementation
  • Setting up macros automatically would be nice
  • Having more included instead of having all the extra pieces being extra money especially for upgrades
Overall I love the program and it is an imperative program for us to use daily now. I would strongly recommend that if you get this program that you have someone that can be fully trained in every way and every program that this program uses so that you can utilize it to the fullest extent.

SAP B1 is used extensively across the organization so all functions including accounting, logistics, sales, purchasing, etc
  • Single pane of glass to entire business
  • Highly flexible and customizable
  • Strong API for integration with other systems
  • CRM needs improvement
  • Web based portals are lacking
  • Built in reporting could be better

Best suited for smaller customers (under a few hundred users) in distribution or light manufacturing.

SAP B1 is being used across the whole organization managing orders, shipments, financials, inventory, sales, purchasing, etc. Almost all aspects of the business.
  • Highly customizable with Boyoum usability package.
  • SAP B1 crashes when using query manager or creating queries from scratch. It runs out of memory.
  • Approval process for sales orders has glitches and does not work properly.
  • UI configuration tool does not work how it is intended for creating templates. It looks like it has a conflict with Boyum.
  • There should be more reports that come out of the box.
  • Lacking the ability to connect more documents in one network that can be viewed through the relationship map (for example, you can't link one order to another, or return to a sales order, etc.).
It does simple tasks well, like orders, shipping, etc. However, the return module is extremely weak (at least on the version 9.2 we are using). There should be more CRM capabilities as well.

Implementation of SAP is purely dependent on the SAP partner you are working with and there's no way of knowing who is good and who is bad until you try and at that time it might be too late and you have a lot of headaches to get out and switch a partner. It was not easy to find a good and local partner.

We use the product for our complete sales and purchase process, meanwhile, it is fully connected with the finance module and it creates automatically a journal entry for every transaction that affects the general ledger. The reporting module has many options and is really customizable, and you can create your own reports once you get familiar with the structures of tables and fields in the database.
  • All the modules are connected. A document you post on the sales or purchase modules gets an immediate journal entry on the finance module.
  • The system is very customizable. You can add extra fields to almost every document in the system.
  • The reporting is very good. You can create your own report via the Query Manager and then even add some layouts to the reports.
  • The Software Development Kit (SDK) has some errors that haven't been solved from previous versions of the system.
  • The Print Layout Designer (PLD) is somewhat tricky to work with.
  • The cost of each user license could be pretty expensive for some companies.
The license cost per user is a little expensive, and then annually you have to pay approximately 20% of the total cost of your licenses for the support from SAP, but what you get in return is totally worth it. You get a world class ERP for your company and the support is really good. The main benefit of the system is that you have all the departments in your company connected in real time.

  • SAP Business One dramatically reduces the time of communication between the departments in the company.
  • The possibilities for the users to make their own reports (at least the simple ones), reduces the cost of the consulting you will need, although some consulting will always be needed at the start of the project if you don't have an in-house team.
  • All the processes in sales and purchase departments are greatly improved in our company, so users can spend more time analyzing information and scenarios, and less time doing routinary work and data input.
Yes
The implementation was performed using the SAP's methodology called ASAP (Accelerated SAP). The methodology is broken into 5 phases: Project Preparation, Business Blueprint, Realization, Final Preparation and Go Live & Support. Each phase of execution focuses on documentation, recommendations, and implementations of SAP systems. After each and every phase executed successfully quality check is carried out that will help the monitor to deliverables and also focus on vital factors which are crucial for success.
  • The licenses are usable on multi companies by the same users as long as the DB is on the same server.
  • The project could perform some delay if there is no 100% dedication from the users.
  • It's important to have a very well defined business blueprint.
It is very important that the internal team that will participate in the project, can have dedicated time to spent on the project. Usually most of the delays on the projects occurs because the assigned personnel don't have enough dedicated time to the project, and are always focused on their daily tasks.
SAP Business One is one of the best ERPs for a medium or small business in the market today. It has a wide variety of modules and it is really easy to use and set up. You can trace every transaction and know what user performs it, at what time, and in which date, for all your audit needs. When comparing SAP to its competition, SAP provides the best overall solution for the price you are paying. If your business grows, you'll always have the possibility to upgrade to a much complete version from the same manufacturer.

As SAP Business One is an ERP System, all the processes of the company are integrated onto it, so most of all of the staff have access to SAP B1. The areas that currently work within the system in our company are finance, sales, purchasing, marketing, inventory and IT.

To support the SAP Business One software we have an in house team that perform the centralized support from one country to all the countries the company has operations on. They are usually systems or computer engineers, are very high skilled with ERP systems and are certified on the SAP products.
  • The whole accountability is registered on the system.
  • All the item tracking is performed on the system.
  • All the reports are generated directly from the information stored on the system.
  • We have interfaced SAP B1 with our logistic software.
  • We used SAP B1 on more than 30 companies in 15 different countries.
  • We connected the system with most of the local tax authorities that requires to send online information.
  • We could use SAP B1 on every company of the group.
  • We might be able to connect SAP B1 to our WMS System.
  • We could configure and use some modules of the tool that are not currently in use.
SAP Business One is the core of our financial an operations team, and they rely 100% on the system to perform their daily tasks. We are sure that are going to keep continue the system for many years to come, as the manufacturer always improve the product with new functions and tools.

SAP is the software leader for the ERP industry according to the gartner magic quadrant for ERP vendors. The usability of it's products is well known in the industry and the scalability of their products and its ease to connect with other programs let us to decide for SAP Business One as our system of choice.
If we had to the selection process all over again, I think it will be exactly the same. As the time has gone by, and even though other softwares can certainly be very well rated as well, we are pretty sure we made the right choice by selecting SAP Business One as our ERP software.
  • Implemented in-house
Change management was minimal
When implementing a system like SAP Business One, it is very important to let people in the organization know that they are not going to be replaced by the new system, but they will perform better at their jobs and have a new tool they can rely on for performing the job a lot better and more efficient.
  • In-person training
The training I get was a consultant level training, so it's basically a 6 weeks training covering every aspect and every module of the system. It covered most common use cases and exercise training so you can get along with the software, as well as examples so there culd be a better understanding.
No
When we were implementing the SAP Business One software, we perform most of the implementation with our in-house team, but then we ran into a few questions that we do not know how to answer, so we requested some help from our partner software support and it was very helpful for finishing the implementation without any extra troubles.
Even though the price of the support for SAP products in general is a little expensive, you really get what you are paying for. The support team is really well trained and mostly they will get to the root of the issue really fast and will always try their best to resolve your issue ASAP.
  • The reports are easy to generate.
  • The system in general is very user friendly.
  • the document traceability is really helpful.
  • Some modules could have better reports.
  • The MRP process could be improved.
  • The exchange rate window doesn't have a modification log.
Yes, but I don't use it
SAP Business One is one of the best ERPs for a medium or small business in the market today.
SAP Business One lets you connect to other systems and you can also create your own applications inside the main program, which lets you create anything the standard software doesn't do. The vendor is constantly releasing new updates based on user requests and making better certain modules and processes.
The SAP Business One software is up and running every time you need it as it was planned. In more than 6 years that we have been using the product, it has never been unavailable and if it ever was, it was because of a planned maintenance window scheduled in the company.
SAP Business One performance depends mostly on the speed of your internal servers, should you have the solution on premise as we do. Sometimes the system tends to be a little slower for some users when others are executing really big reports of performing some batch loads, but generally, the performance is acceptable to all the users.
  • Several connections to local tax authorities.
  • Logistics Systems.
  • WMS Systems.
SAP Business One provides a SDK so you can do your own programming and you can extract the information directly from the database.
  • None at the moment.

  • File import/export
  • API (e.g. SOAP or REST)
We perform most of our integrations of SAP Business One with the local tax authorities via a XML file exported directly from the database and then sent to the tax authorities via a FTP or SFTP. We can also configure the selected method to be a web service if the other end requires it.
SAP Business One offers a lot op options to integrate, but it's important to know that if you are importing data to the system, you have to use the provided SDK (Software Development Kit) or use an application that it is based on the mentioned SDK, so the system can recognize the objects being added.
If you are planning to integrate SAP Business One with another software or application, keep always in mind that you cannot perform modifications directly to the database, In other words, you cannot perform UPDATs or DELETEs statements directly onto the DB, because SAP's warranty can be voided if the DB gets corrupted.
We performed the implementation of SAP Business One with an in house team of consultants, we only rely on the partner for the purchase of the licenses and the yearly maintenance. Our partner has been really helpful with all the inquiries we've had regarding to the license aspects of the implementation.

When we were on the negotiation process for acquiring the licenses for SAP Business One, as we have operations across multiple countries, our partner recommended us to acquire all of the licenses only in one country, because of the bigger volume we could get a bigger discount and still be able to use them across all our locations.

The use of the tool allows to have an ERP which is implemented, in general, in all areas of the company, integrates in a coordinated manner in the areas of Marketing, Production, Marketing Channels, Inventories, Administration, Accounting, Finance, Portfolio Management of Customers, Accounts Payable and Charged. Allowing the control of all these functions in a single integrated application.

It is ideal for small and medium businesses, since it is a complete application, with a good technical service, and with accessible costs for the benefits received.
  • It allows making a real follow-up of the state of the company, without the need to wait for periodic reports. This provides a corrective tool for situations that deviate from the standard.
  • It prevents the business areas from working separately so the information is not duplicated and is managed effectively by all involved. thus avoiding conflicts and optimizing resources.
  • It allows the proper management of the client portfolio, accurately projecting the inputs and outputs of resources, products, orders, and invoices. Therefore, the inventory and cash flow are properly managed.
  • By correctly managing cash inflows and customer requirements, a real plan of goals can be established that is adjusted to the company's capabilities.
  • It is a standardized program in its use, with a parent company with decades in the market and renowned, which provides adequate user support to the tool.
  • The learning curve is greater than other programs of its type. You need staff who previously worked with the tool. The learning time is going to be high. Being a more developed tool, the user requirements are high compared to other similar ones.
  • Visually, it is a sober program. I believe that the presentation could be improved by adjusting it to the user level with which it is worked. In order to make it more user-friendly, we must not forget that a tool such as an ERP will be used by all areas of the company, which includes inexperienced personnel up to senior levels.
  • They should improve the integration with other tools that do not belong to the SAP family. In today's world, emphasis should be placed on emails, social networks, mobile applications, applications of calls and messaging, as well as providing adequate storage access on the cloud.
  • The implementation of the tool is in accordance with the type of program, however, for people who have not worked with programs of the SAP family, it will require more implementation time, as well as intensive user training courses.
As we have already described, it is an ideal tool for small and medium companies, with a well designed ERP system and adjusted to the reality of the business. It is a sober, reliable tool with extensive experience in the development of administrative tools. The cost-benefit ratio is appropriate for companies of this size. The points of improvement are the integration with other platforms and the visual interface for average users.

  • The first impact we measured in the implementation of this tool was saving paper for printing, invoices and security paper, and savings in the issuance of reports that have allowed the reduction in 10% of administrative expenses.
  • In the second chronological order, we have reduced the storage and transportation expenses by 8% because we can monitor the behavior of the client portfolio in an adequate manner, making an adequate use of the inventory, largely due to the sales forecasts made by the billing team.
  • Reduction of 15% in accounts receivable, since a collection task has been carried out adjusted to each client, in the same way, we have reduced the banking leverage by improving our cash flow as we will only use the banks for investment in assets.
Conduct interviews with the administrative and accounting areas, ask about the experience with the tool, make free test modules to detect the possibilities of use, as well as, validate the necessary investment for the implementation of the program with the system area, to determine if it is the most viable option
This tool is ideal for companies that are dedicated to the management of wholesale sales, marketing and distribution of retail products, the way it integrates inventory management tools, marketing, sales, as well as the management and projection of client portfolio is ideal for this type of company. For companies of services and factoring, more friendly applications are recommended. I would choose SAP for its reputation, tradition, and seriousness.
The ability to develop modules that adapt to new fiscal, monetary, and tax policies to avoid problems of this nature for the company. In a fluctuating economy, with changing policies at the monetary, fiscal, and tax levels. With a legal framework that requires changes periodically, it is important to have experts who know this reality and adjust quickly.

It is a tool developed by a parent company with extensive experience in the sector, has specialists in each area, as well as a long career. It guarantees the technical quality based on the practice of years of attention to the user requirements, which makes them very competitive in this aspect.
  • It is a tool that gives you all the necessary information, the data you need to make the right decisions.
  • The design is elegant and sober, offers a corporate image.
  • It is a reliable and safe tool, giving guarantee of data integrity, also manages a good accessibility scheme by user profiles.
  • The user level learning curve is slow, especially if you have not worked with the tool before. It is a complete program, which can generate the feeling that it is not friendly, the interface is serious. Since there are many options and modules, it can generate confusion in the average users.
  • User profiles, if they are not well designed, do not allow the handling of unauthorized parameters. Therefore, the Work Flow and all those involved in it must be handled very well, along with their functions. To avoid accessibility problems.
  • The reports must be well defined, otherwise there is a risk of not presenting the desired data, since many reporting options are available.
No

Being a high profile tool, a user level with specific experience and skills is required to use the program. Which deserves special attention in the junior staff, requires a good management of the administrative part to develop all the benefits of the program. For young and inexperienced people the interface is not flashy. Although it is a very complete program.

It allows to perform all the necessary follow-up to the management, the accounting and administrative processes of the company can be simplified.

. They must be highly qualified professionals, with extensive technical experience and proper management of the tool, with a minimum of 2 years as technical support, it is important that they have an administrative and accounting base, which allows them to understand the requirements of the users and be able to detect them in time. solutions and improvements in the application of the program.
  • The inventory management, purchasing requirements, as well as the sales projection, allows for an adequate attention of the clients and needs.
  • The accounting management, the tool is very robust in this aspect, allowing in real time to determine business needs. Provides data that allows designing sales plans, reducing costs, strengthening profitability strategy.
  • Administratively it is a very strong program, it contemplates all the scenarios and administrative needs of the company. It is very well developed in this aspect.
  • Inventory management, markenting needs and planning promotion strategies for seasons and product lines.
  • Appropriate accounting management of the company, as well as, adaptation to tax policies that may change, to avoid penalties or fines.
  • Reports, graphs and tools for monitoring business management.
  • Integration of markenting tools, social networks and promotion.
  • Integration with other sales force tracking tools, and mobile apps.
  • Management of editable reports in real time by those involved, facilitating decision making
As I said before, it is a first level tool, well developed, and with very strong development support, although the learning curve, its implementation, the cost-benefit ratio, the price and the user experience is not the most suitable for small and medium-sized companies. It is a company with extensive experience, market positioning, technical support and expanded use.

SAP is a company with more than 3 decades of experience in the market, they are developers of accounting and administrative tools of first level. They have experience, reputation and market positioning, they are well developed products.

Therefore, their programs are reflections of all the experience accumulated over the years, which allows us to improve previously presented errors, in addition to adapting to the new needs of our clients.

Investigate in the written reviews of the program, make free tests of other similar programs, in order to determine which is the one that adapts to the size of the company.

Involve the end users in system tests, evaluating their reaction, as well as, a survey to poll their impressions with the program if they have worked previously.
