It is currently being used for accounting and finance and will also be used by manufacturing when we get to that stage. Entire organization will use it. SAP consolidates everything onto one platform and will help us manage our inventory and manufacturing processes better than QuickBooks.
  • The user interface is easy to navigate.
  • Reports are easily created in order to analyze data.
  • Inventory is tracked in an efficient manner.
  • SAP doesn't allow for there to be updates to inventory items once they have been created. It would be ideal if updates to items could be made.
SAP Business One is well suited for a small to mid-sized company that has inventory and manufacturing processes.

  • It has allowed us to track inventory efficiently.
Yes
The initial phase included accounting, finance, and inventory modules. The end phase will include the manufacturing module.
The team provided great support and continues to assist with any questions we have with SAP.
SAP business one provided a more complete solution since all modules are included in their package. Other ERP providers charged extra for each module that was implemented. SAP was more economical than other providers.
  • in-person training
We had a couple of classroom style trainings and a couple of one-on-one trainings.
I have not used the online training offered.
We had live training.
When we needed to add additional account determinations in the set up. They walked me through the process over the phone.
No
Timely and accurate support all of the time.
  • Integration of purchase orders to goods receipt to invoices
  • Set up of the account determination. You really need to know what to do here since this set up drives a lot of the transactions in SAP.
It has a nice interface that is easy to use.

We use Stellar One Consulting for any SAP support needs.
  • SAP has a well developed Accounting module
  • We are still waiting to fully implement SAP (Production module). That is the area that we will see how SAP helps our organization.
  • When we have sales, we will see how SAPs service module functions along with warranty tracking on products sold.
We will definitely renew SAP.
Yes
SAP replaces QuickBooks. We needed a more robust software for inventory tracking and production of products.
  • Price
  • Product Features
  • Product Usability
  • Positive Sales Experience with the Vendor
The features available was the single most important factor. We wanted a solution that offered everything in order for us to use these modules as we expand our business.
Wouldn't change it.
No
Don't require it now. Maybe in the future when we open up the production module.

We use SAP Business One in our Management Information Systems and Accounting Information Systems courses at Saint Vincent College. We offer 60 to 80 students hands-on access to SAP Business One every semester. Additionally, we run an independent study course allowing students to train to be SAP Business One consultants upon graduation.
  • SAP Business One is very easy to use and new users can be trained in hours not days or weeks.
  • SAP Business One is a great product for a simple to moderate discrete manufacturer. Additionally, there are a number of add-ons that give continuous manufacturers a strong solution
  • SAP Business One offers strong sales and purchasing functionality.
  • SAP Business One is tightly integrated with Microsoft Office
  • SAP Business One is tightly integrated with Crystal Reports
  • The financial reporting capabilities of SAP Business One are not robust. However, the product is integrated with Crystal Reports and a number of Software Solutions Providers (SSPs) offer financial reporting add-ons.
  • SAP Business One does not have robust manufacturing routing capabilities.
SAP Business One is a strong solution for discrete manufacturers with only a few locations. It is also a strong solution for subsidiaries or joint ventures of companies running SAP ECC. Additionally, there are many Software Solutions Providers (SSPs) who offer strong add-ons that complement SAP Business One.
  • Our institution was using SAP ECC, and our students were struggling with the complex navigation. Now that we are using SAP Business One, students are using the solution in a single class period.
I have personally worked with Oracle, JD Edwards, QuickBooks and Made2Manage. SAP Business One is MUCH easier to use than Oracle and JD Edwards, far more robust than QuickBooks and Made2Manage does not have the support of a company like SAP. I would strongly recommend SAP Business One for a company that is less than $50 million in revenue.
Over the past two years SAP has added a great deal of new SAP Business One on-line training for version 9.0 and 9.1. Most of the training is very strong, but some is difficult to understand and follow. Additionally, SAP still has a few holes in their on-line training around Production, Bill-of-Materials, MRP and Service.
Our institution is a member of the SAP University Alliance. We have chosen to use SAP Business One in our Management Information Systems and Accounting Information Systems classes for seven years, because the students can use the product quickly and come to understand the functionality and integration that an ERP system has to offer.
We recently upgraded SAP Business One from version 8.8 to version 9.1 and had a few issues initially. We have now resolved those issues, with SAP assistance, and SAP Business One seems very stable!
