Information technology. Reports are used to enhance the functionality of our Prophet 21 ERP application. The Prophet 21 application provides some standard reports, but the utilization of Crystal reports to access the SQL data allows us to better hone in on the important data, and customize our various Order and Invoice forms as needed.

While we have a large number of unknowing consumers of Crystal, only those that design the reports interact with it directly. Those that use it unknowingly get PDF copy and don't realize the product. The two that use Crystal Reports directly take business requirements and turn them into fairly robust and sometimes complex reports that are distributed regularly.

Only 2 users are heavy in report creation/editing, but many at our school are able to run reports, and in some cases, make minor edits. Crystal Reports are used for almost all reporting within the organization for fundraising, and educational reports, like transcripts. We also use Crystal to "integrate" various platforms together. We use Blackbaud as our primary database, but use Crystal to create import files to feed other systems we use.

Crystal reports serves as our main reporting function for the organization's database, so it's used for many reasons, e.g., rental of mailing lists, dashboard information for statistical purposes, e.g., how many renewing, how many new, how long certified, also used for exporting data for use with excel for inhouse mailings or outside email blast communications.

All the users in my organization are reporting professionals. We write reports for end users and do most of our work for them via parameters so that they don't have to try to mess with crystal directly. Many people run our reports, but I wouldn't count that as a "user". They simply bring them up in a web viewer and fill in the parameters and hit "go".

I was mainly involved in installing and developing crystal solutions from different customers, so I counted an average of the users who used the product in different companies, usually the type of user who uses it varies according to the company's needs, but usually the departments involved are the commercial departments, the management, the administration and in some cases the IT departments.
