SAP Datasphere best suited us with the reusability of the views and models. Data flows came in very handy to be used. Python scripting in dataflows is a plus point where we sometimes use python functions to modify our data which SAP Datasphere is not able to. The Row level security is the area we are still trying to explore and make sure how we can leverage.

Faster turnaround time in building data fabric with good federation and replication possibilities. Data flows need improvement with conditional loading, error handling, etc.

We can integrate SAP ECC and Oracle. We combined data easily. Also, we would like to implement all plants.

Less appropriate for existing BW customers. Greenfield it is far easier to convince customers. SAP Datasphere with HANA cloud is extremely expensive.

Future of data platform in SAP

We have been working on ecommerce company and we have several data servers and point-of-sale systems. We wanted to collect and integrate all this data to create a unified view of its customers, orders and inventory. And we also desired to use this data to power its BI dashboards and reports. Additionally, we wanted to predict the futuristic demand for the goods. Hence, we utilized SAP Datasphere for data catalogue and data governance policies; and created semantic models of the data, then we created the Power BI dashboards and reports to share the insight of data.

One of the best use cases for SAP data sphere is ecommerce and retail business where a lot of locations are constantly generating a lot of data and we need to make important business decisions based on that data. SAP data sphere can help wit integrating multiple data sources and help with analytics, data processing, modeling and making business predictions.

SAP is best suited for large global corporations. It is a very complex software and is difficult to come by individuals who have sufficient enough knowledge to master the product. Globally our company only has 1 person to support us in IT for SAP. It is great if you use a more complex web host such as SFCC as you can make connections to SAP for returns, inventory, price updates, etc.

SAP Datasphere is well suited for various situations and use cases across different establishments. However, they are particularly fitted in large enterprises with multitude and complex data routines as the software solution allows integration from variety of sources. It is also a go-to for operations that extract and load (ETL) data from multiple systems.

SAP is quite good at combining data from several sources. It has the ability to connect to a range of databases, cloud services, and on-premises systems. Before transferring data to other systems for analytics or reporting, we can utilize it to transform and clean the data.
SAP Datasphere is good for large volumes of data; small datasets get the stuff overcomplicated.

The sites and platforms that we implemented already were using SAP BTP and SAP Ariba, and hence were well suited and habituated to the SAP ecosystem. Hence making the switch to SAP Datasphere along with SAP Cloud Analytics wasn't that difficult for our team and organisation. Just our team has more than 200 sites contained in 6 different platforms. Tracking, modeling, and analyzing data across all these different platforms was very cumbersome for us sometimes. But SAP Datasphere, with its Data Discovery, was able to centralize all those data which we were easily able to model and analyze.

It is not built for super complex tasks but for the daily operations it is perfect. Data intergrity checks would definitely need some attention as we've been having difficulties with them. Current visuals are enough but there always can be more. Not every user in my team was able to jump on the tool without a proper walkthrough.
