SAP Digital Manufacturing Review

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

As a standard MES system. This means that the core functionalities it offers include a work order queue, confirmation of work completion, and intraday control.Currently, SAP DM is still integrated with an R/3 system and is being rolled out to other plants (currently implemented in only one plant)

Pros

  • Standard Interface
  • POD 2.0 will be a great benefit

Cons

  • Not the whole ERP Data Model is supportes (Configruation, OrderNet, Text postition in BOM etc.)

Return on Investment

  • Positive one cause we had no MES System before so we get ROI trough transperency

Usability

Driving Digital Manufacturing with SAP Digital Manufacturing

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

With SAP Digital Manufacturing (SAP DM), we are replacing our old, custom-built MES solution. We are standardizing both our system landscape and our processes. Since we have already implemented SAP S/4HANA, we are optimizing the integration between SAP S/4HANA and SAP Digital Manufacturing as the MES solution within our company. This approach paves the way for the digitalization of our production through a Cloud-First and SAP Suite-First strategy.

Pros

  • SAP S/4HANA integration
  • digitalization of production
  • rapid deployment, and cost-efficient operation

Cons

  • performance
  • functional coverage
  • broader support for communication protocols for machine connectivity

Return on Investment

  • reduction of production downtime
  • reduction of scrap through improved data quality and insights
  • reduction of ready-for-production time through standardization
