SAP Sustainability Footprint Management is excellent tools to manage the total carbon footprint. It calculates a company's total carbon footprint and attributes emissions to products and corporate overhead, aiming to achieve a balanced emission level through all production stages. the main problem in current business was there was no particular tool to calculate how to measure and calculate the total carbon footprint through production and emission of different effluents from the company, through it it gives the holistic approach through the analytical data to measure and look forward to take measure to reduce the carbon footprint which leads to more sustainable approach towards business.

I am a consultant for SAP EHS and sustainability solutions. I implement projects of this type, in addition to carrying out pre-sales as well.
  • Carbon footprint in the oil industry & energy
  • Carbon footprint in the chemical industry
  • Carbon footprint in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Improve Input Data Integration with SAP EHS-EM
  • Improve emission factors database
  • Improved output (reports and graphs)
Currently, with the issue of carbon evolving, the demand for carbon and its life cycle has been important, especially in the energy and chemical industries. The tool has the potential to be implemented in South America, however it would be essential to also expand GHG emission inventories through SAP EHS-EM.

We are starting to use this tool because of the importance that sustainability and the calculation of the carbon footprint is gaining, but above all because the EU in 2024 has made it compulsory for companies to present this information at the same level as the financial information and we think that there is a market opportunity in it.
  • Is very intuitive
  • The breakdown of the carbon footprint by product
  • The option to add transport is very interesting
  • An easier connection with SCT
  • A simpler connection with S4/Hana
It is an intuitive tool with which you can calculate your carbon footprint and see the impact of each area of your company on your carbon footprint.

As a SAP product consultant, we promote the use of SAP Sustainability Footprint Management for businesses to manage and monitor their carbon emission (particularly scope 3 emissions). We also promote the use of SAP EHSM Environment Management module to capture scope 1 and 2 emission, and SAP SCT as a reporting platform for businesses' carbon emission.
  • Carbon emission at product level
  • Scope 3 emission capture (although this is WIP)
  • Emission factor management
  • Emission calculation
  • Scope 1 and 2 emission capture
  • Additional categories for Scope 3 emission
  • Integration with SAP EHSM Environment Management
  • Ability to calculate emission not only at product level but also corporate level
SAP Sustainability Footprint Management is well suited for businesses that want to manage and monitor their carbon emission at product level. However, it is not well suited if businesses want to manage and monitor their carbon emissions from site to corporate level. SAP EHSM Environment Management is better suited for the latter; however, it cannot manage and monitor Scope 3 emission without enhancements or being creative with location master data structure. In addition, SAP EHSM Environment Management does not have 'if' scenario capability - which is requested by many businesses

As we are a supplier to the automotive industry it was required get a comprehensive overview of our carbon footprint. It should be easy to use and should use all data which is already in our systems especially our ERP system.
  • The reporting functionality is quite good
  • It is easy to connect external system or extract data in the SAP ERP system
  • We think the API connectivity could be improved. To connect other systems could be easier
Calculation and monitoring of footprints in a graphical format was required and this works well. As well as modelling the energy flow in our production plant Management of stock levels and transport footprints was required and this worked well.
