What is Sauce Labs?

Sauce Labs is a cloud-based platform for automated testing of desktop and mobile applications. It is designed to be instantly scalable, since it is optimized for continuous integration workflows. (The vendor says that when tests are automated and run in parallel on multiple virtual machines across many different browser, platform and device combinations, testing time is reduced and developer time is freed up from managing infrastructure.) The Sauce Labs testing cloud is intended to be paired with a CI system. According to the vendor, this combination allows developers to easily test desktop and hybrid, native and mobile web applications early on in their development cycles, continuously and affordably.

Sauce Labs provides enterprise-grade security via Sauce Connect™, its secure tunneling protocol for testing behind a firewall while maintaining control of proxy and access policies. Tests are run in the company’s secure data center and VMs are destroyed (not “wiped”) after each run, ensuring customer data is never exposed to future sessions. After tests are completed the Sauce Labs’ dashboard provides a unique build-oriented report with metadata, access to Selenium logs, screenshots, video recordings, and a complete list of commands and responses. Support for SSO lets customers provision new user accounts on the fly with centralized user account management, access control, and usage reporting.

Sauce labs was good until the service became too unreliable to continue using, when we tried to use an device it does not worked, and it made us very sad, but it did a great job when it worked. We used it to verify if our app was functioning correctly.

As part of our development build pipelines, we are using Sauce Labs to perform our Cucumber automation tests on real devices in Sauce Labs. Specifically, we're using the command line tool for running tests both from our local dev machines as well as within our Bitrise CICD. We have a dedicated integration automation testing team who are working using Selenium to build a set of automation tests for both Android and iOS The hands-on QA team also use real devices for ad-hoc testing on specific devices or OS versions

Sauce Labs is used by the entire Information Technology organization for testing applications through web browsers. Use of the multiple browser configurations provides environmental coverage for all our supported operating system / browser platform combinations. Sauce Labs allows USAA to test the configurations in parallel and decreases the overall run-time of test suites.

Sauce Labs helps employees at our company perform automation testing as well as the assistance of having devices available to be used for remote working. It assists greatly in scenarios where testers are not on-site at work and still want to be able to test on mobile hardware. Also, is used as a community and education portal.

During the WFH period, sauce labs adoption rate was increased much more than previous. It allowed many people to use devices to test on and conduct analysis for test strategies way in advance as we dont have to wait to procure devices and have them delivered and have a device farm ready to access

Allows testing across all phases of development by all members of a cross functional team. Easy to access and use by all with little knowledge of Sauce Labs via the UI. Solves: Maintenance costs of devices including upgrades, software updates, malfunctions. Device shortage via use of public devices. Device sharing and collaboration. Access to devices during pandemic.

I am the Salesforce admin I use AQI internally and it's a fantastic tool that I will be recommending at any future company I work for. It allows me to set up pre-established test routines, make changes in our Salesforce instance, and then run those tests (like lead-to-op, or op-to-close) and see where the new validation rules or automation flows fail. Can't live without it now, saves me and my team countless hours.

SauceLabs allows us to rid ourselves of tech debt-heavy Selenium configurations and write quality tests. Additionally, the ability to cross-browser and device test using virtualized browsers and device farms simplifies our configurations and allows us to re-focus resources on what matters. Once upon a time, it was necessary to manage all of this configuration on-site, and SauceLabs has taken on this management which allowed us to move faster. Their Cypress product does need some work but I would not hesitate to use them if you are using WebDriver.io.

We use Sauce Labs for our eCommerce platform, as well as new and emerging mobile apps and products. Using Sauce Labs lets us maintain enterprise-grade test architecture without needing an additional full-time role for features and maintenance. Thanks to Appium integration, we can run the same tests across a dozen mobile devices without much fuss. Documentation and support are top-notch. Real Cloud and Cross-Browser enable us to test real devices and run Safari (through the browser) on Windows machines. Automated tests come with video recordings synchronized to each test step, so we can quickly zero in on issues. Choose Sauce Labs if you're serious about automated testing.
