Scale Computing Platform is excellent for building a virtual environment at a remote location. The ability to have 2TB of storage and 32GB of memory in a single node is effective for most sites. It is less appropriate for environments that rely heavily on virtual desktop. The support for Windows PC OS is not quite where it needs to be for that kind of implementation.

Getting a leg up with SCALE.

Scale is best suited to environments that do not have excessive external or proprietary peripherals. Integrating with tape drive backups or robot tape libraries can be problematic. The most effective use of Scale systems is for companies running multiple instances of the same operating system. The hypervisor's code/file-sharing nature does an excellent job managing new instances while keeping the increase in storage to a minimum.

Honestly, I can't imagine a scenario in which I would not want to continue using a hyperconverged environment like this. It's scalable, so it could work for a larger environment than mine. I guess if your environment is too small to justify the cost of a small cluster then this would not be the solution for you.

Scale Computing Platform for the small enterprise is fast and easy to use.

I believe Scale Computing Platform shines in the small enterprise environment and it would work well in a medium/edge environment enterprise environment. Based on my experience with VMWare, I believe Scale Computing Platform's solution would struggle to meet the needs of a larger enterprise that relies on more robust, industry standardized system integrations for automation and management. The Acronis backup solution is robust, but Veeam is the industry standard for a reason.
