What is ScienceLogic SL1?

The ScienceLogic SL1 platform aims to enable companies to digitally transform themselves by removing the difficulty of managing complex, distributed IT services. SL1 uses patented discovery techniques to find everything in a network, so users get visibility across all technologies and vendors running anywhere in data centers or clouds. The vendor states the advantage of SL1 is that it collects and analyzes millions of data points across an IT universe (made up of infrastructure, network, applications, and business services), to help users make sense of it all, share data, and automate IT processes.

With SL1, the user can:

 • See everything across cloud and distributed architectures. Discover all IT components—–across physical, virtual, and cloud. Collect, merge, and store a variety of data in a clean, normalized data lake.
 • Contextualize data through relationship mapping and machine learning (ML) for actionable insights. Use this context to understand the impact of infrastructure and applications on business service health and risk, accelerate root cause analysis, and execute recommended actions.
 • Act on data that is shared across technologies and IT ecosystem in real time. Apply multi-directional integrations to automate workflows at cloud scale.

We are using ScienceLogic SL1 for existing customers, new customers, and also are moving forward to enhance our essential services to clients looking for oversight from a monitoring standpoint. SL1 now will be used across our Managed Services and we are in the planning stage to use it company-wide.

We are using ScienceLogic SL1 to support growth of both our managed services and managed hosting businesses. When we onboard new customers onto our platform, one of the pieces of our product offering is monitoring. Depending on their business needs, we can utilize several different tools but nearly every customer receives network and server monitoring via ScienceLogic SL1.

These are the main products where we are using ScienceLogic to monitor our services: Cisco Hosted Collaboration Solution, Unified Communications (UC) Management Solutions (VOSS4UC), VMware vRealize Orchestrator, Ansible and Layer X platform.
In most of the cases works quite good. Nowadays, for new products which are using public Cloud, we vaguely using.

Every new product that we add to our managed service portfolio requires that we have monitoring support in place. This means that we are constantly looking at new devices or solutions to monitor using SL1. This is allowing us to more effectively grow our service offering to our customers.

Yes, increase in technology growth expecting ScienceLogic SL1 to support more device types. Helps the organization to identify the key areas in reducing the efforts on fixing the issue and more focus on developing the solution.

We are barely using ScienceLogic SL1 to support new products or business growth. It is being used mostly as a monitoring software solution with capabilities of quick data validation, reports, and dashboards. Given that we can only indicate the tool is being used as a base software, required to keep the system up and running as expected.

We are using ScienceLogic SL1 to support our Service Portfolio of managed services (Enterprise networks, Collaboration, Datacentre & Cloud and Security). We have reached a level of expertise where we are also able to offer a ScienceLogic service as well (Monitoring as a Service).
The ability that ScienceLogic provides us enables us to provide more value to our customers by understanding and providing them with a view into the services they run across the infrastructure we support for them. We are seeing that customers, having seen what we do for one service have asked us to provide monitoring for other areas that we don't provide managed services for, so that they have greater visibility across the whole estate.
ScienceLogic has supported our ability to integrate with AppDynamics before they really have support for it. ScienceLogic is helping ensure that their Cisco ACI support matches as various engineering groups continue to rev it. ScienceLogic is helping us support and monitor our multi-cloud strategy even as we struggle to comply with InfoSec, CASPR and other compliance processes governing what can / should be allowed to be hosted external to the corporate network.

Capacity management on BW and port utilization are the key items. We are able to focus on some of the requirement such as ports capacity measurement on a 5 min interval. The overall exercise of SL1 is to allow us to see the bottleneck at various locations of data traffic.

Our growth with ScienceLogic is limited to new devices for the most part. We sometimes try new processes or features but typically continue with our baseline. There is an ability to utilize new feature and support that comes down from ScienceLogic, we just tend to stick to what we have that is proven in our environment.

Yes we are using various reports from ScienceLogic to represent the network performance which thus helps in business growth. Immediate visibility in the network performance and device availability helps us to keep the service SLA to a good value which thus results in a good reputation of network services. Several access levels give us the privilege to hand over the dashboard to the end users for their visibility in the network performance thus gaining the trust of the customer.

Yes, every new offering will be entirely on ScienceLogic and ServiceNow. Our sales and marketing teams have been trained and provided insight about ScienceLogic and its benefits to be presented to our new potential customers. All our new managed customer onboarding has been implemented in ScienceLogic, as well as any new core infrastructure devices have also been added to ScienceLogic.
